Strong winds began about 1:00pm yesterday and a brief light rain about 4:50pm. Then the winds picked up even more with strong gusts rearranging everything in the yard and on decks throughout the night. Light, misty rain started about 3:20am and continues at this time. The plants which were stripped of all their moisture by the winds are soaking it up! We really cannot call this -- so far -- the heavy rains we were told to expect but are extremely grateful for what we have gotten. |

Our rain came through the night in torrential bursts of a minute or less between light rains or nothing at all. On one occasion there was a downpour happening at one end of our home and nothing at all 65 feet away at the other end. Our little microclimate continues to fascinate me. Our "low" this morning was 10 degrees above predictions, our rainfall surprisingly high and none of the predicted snow at all. But, we are so very very grateful for the much needed moisture. |
