Observation Date Observation Time Precipitation Snowfall Snowfall SWE Snow Depth Snow SWE Notes
2/3/2010 8:15 AM 0.26 M M M M We have a 50F morning with 5 mph NE winds, a few clouds and a rising barometer at 30.06 in Hg. This is our first report from this location overlooking North Tampa Bay and an adjacent county park. There are no strong fronts in the area and the isobars are widespread. We’re watching a significant amount of precipitation over much of Texas and wondering if it’s headed this way. For an interesting report near our home base please see MI-ME-2.
2/4/2010 8:15 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M We have a slightly warmer morning at 52 F and a rising barometer at 30.11 in Hg. Skies are overcast with high haze and some stratus. Winds are light, 5 mph, out of the ENE. The large system that was in Texas yesterday has worked its way along the Gulf coast and now extends from Mexico through Texas and is in Alabama just above the western tip of Florida’s panhandle. It should affect us sometime Friday. The ground here is fairly saturated so that any significant precipitation will leave standing water.
2/5/2010 8:15 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M We’ve had a significant weather change overnight. It’s overcast and at 65 F, it’s much warmer than yesterday. The barometer is 29.80 in. Hg and is unsteady. Winds are 12 mph out of the SSE and with some packets causing gusts as high as 18 mph. The system mentioned over the previous two days is moving across the Gulf and may bring us significant precipitation later today.
2/6/2010 8:15 AM 0.51 M M M M With scattered to broken clouds we have 62 F, a rising barometer at 29.68 in. Hg and 9 MPH winds gusting to 16 mph. Yesterday was very interesting as a front moved swiftly across the Gulf and came onshore bringing gusty winds, some embedded cells moving at 66 NMH (75 MPH), and finally displaying enough activity that we were placed under a tornado warning after 2:30 pm. The storms split on either side of us and we missed the heavy precipitation and winds that were seen north and south of us. From 1:15 pm until 5:00 pm we had 0.51 in of rain leaving even more standing water on the saturated soil.
2/7/2010 8:30 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M There is no precipitation to report and no dew. We have overcast skies with rather chilly 8 MPH NNW winds, a 50F temperature and a rising barometer at 29.95 in. Hg. It was actually warmer at 4 a.m. when I went out to watch the shuttle launch which was scrubbed, probably due to cloud cover, at 3:36 a.m. Next time I’ll check the launch status before I wander outside. It's always a thrill to watch a night launch so I'll try again tomorrow and hope for clear skies and the planned launch at 4:14 a.m. Monday.
2/8/2010 8:15 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M We have a chilly morning with 41 F, calm winds and a rising barometer at 29.98 in Hg. The sky is relatively clear with some haze and cumulous. It was a good weather morning across the state for the shuttle launch, which could be seen from here just after 4 a.m. as the main engines and SRB’s lifted the craft. It was a wonderful sight. We’re grateful for and amazed at the technology that the space program has provided to monitor and predict the weather.
2/9/2010 8:15 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Skies are overcast and the barometer, at 29.82 in Hg, is falling. It is warmer this morning at 56 F and there are very light winds of 3 mph out of the SSE. This time of year’s cycle of warming, precipitation and then cooling again is in full swing. We expect rain this morning but so far it is dry.
2/10/2010 8:15 AM 0.24 M M M M Skies are severe clear, yesterday’s cold front has cleared the state and the temperature is 46 F. The barometer is rising and is at 29.93 in Hg and there are 11 mph gusty winds out of the NNW. Yesterday’s rain started at 12:30 p.m. and was over by 5:15. We had a total of 0.24 in of precipitation.
2/11/2010 8:15 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M We’ve had no precipitation in the last 24 hours. It was a chilly night with the temperature dipping into the high 30’s but warming now to 41 F. The winds are 4 MPH out of the NW and the barometer is unsteady at 29.97 in Hg. High clouds are blowing in from the west and we expect rain tomorrow.
2/12/2010 8:15 AM T M M M M The day started with a bright overcast, which is now getting darker as the rain approaches. There was just a trace of precipitation overnight and the barometer fell and is now 29.97 in Hg and still falling. It feels cooler than 48 F but perhaps we associate that with gloomy skies, a 6 mph NNE breeze and a 45 F wind chill. It is definitely not water skiing weather.
2/13/2010 8:15 AM 0.58 M M M M The anticipated precipitation arrived and in the space of three hours, between 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. yesterday, we had 0.51 inches of rain which gave us a 24 hour total of 0.58 inches. This morning brings us a bright overcast, a 45 F temperature and 11 mph winds out of the NW. The barometer is rising at 29.86 in Hg. We’re promised some sun later today and once more the warmer, rain, cooler cycle begins.
2/14/2010 8:15 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M It is a beautiful morning with clear skies, a 37 F temperature, calm winds and a slightly rising barometer at 30.02 in Hg. There was no precipitation and little is predicted for tomorrow, as temperatures will rise a bit. Florida skies are always interesting with just a slight amount of haze almost always present.
2/15/2010 8:15 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M We have another beautiful cloudless morning. Last night’s temperature dipped well into the lower thirty’s and is 36 F at 8:15 a.m. Winds are calm and the barometer, at 29.92 in Hg, is falling slowly. There are a few showers over the panhandle and into the Gulf so we have a small chance of precipitation over the next 24 hours. It’s Florida at it’s chilly, sunny best.
2/16/2010 8:15 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M We’ve had no precipitation but do have something different to report. We are under a wind chill advisory until 10 a.m. this morning. Our temperature is 46 F and the winds are 11 mph out of the NNW. That gives, according to the HuhMac Meteorological calculation tool, a wind chill of 41 F! There are a few clouds and the barometer is rising and is at 29.98 in Hg. Happy Mardi Gras New Orleans!
2/17/2010 8:15 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Dry weather continues with almost clear, hazy skies. The temperature is 45 F, winds are 3 mph out of the NW and the barometer is at 30.01 in. Hg. No precipitation is forecast but a warming trend may start later in the week.
2/18/2010 8:15 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Another beautiful clear sky day with no precipitation, a 45 F temperature and 4 mph NW winds. The barometer is rising at 30.08 in Hg and more clear weather is forecast. There were freeze warnings north of us but at least as far north as Citrus county the freeze didn’t materialize. This continues to be a very cool winter in central Florida.
2/19/2010 8:15 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M We have a bright sky with high clouds today. The temperature is rising but still is a chilly 45 F. The barometer is a little unsteady at 30.08 in Hg and rising. There has been no precipitation and a much warmer day is forecast.
2/20/2010 8:15 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M We’ve had no precipitation yet although radar shows a group of showers heading this way out in the Gulf. So far they are dissipating off shore. The warming trend continues and the temperature 49 F and rising. The barometer is still a little unsteady at 30.06 in Hg. Skies are cloudy bright with just a few breaks and the winds, at 3 mph have shifted to the NNE and are variable. The next 24 hours should bring some precipitation
2/21/2010 8:15 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M We have another bright dawn with some stratus. The predicted rain didn’t show—yet. The temperature is rising and is 50 F and the barometer is at 29.90 in Hg. Winds are 4 mph and are variable. They seem to be shifting back to the WNW. There is a chance of rain for the next two days.
2/22/2010 8:15 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M No rain yet although it remains in the forecast with thunderstorms predicted. The temperature is 59 F, the barometer has fallen to 29.71 in Hg and winds are calm.
2/23/2010 8:15 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M There has been no rain but once again some is in the forecast for tomorrow. We have a warm, 61 F, morning with a bit of residual fog from last night. The barometer is rising at 29.67 in. Hg and the winds are 4 mph out of the NNW. It feel very much like Florida with a few clouds and a sunny day in the forecast.
2/24/2010 8:15 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Still no rain but it’s not far off as a cold front arrives. The temperature is 57 F and the barometer is a little unsteady at 29.71 in Hg. Winds are out of the NNW at 5 mph and should pick up later in the day.

3/20/2010 8:15 AM 0.10 0.6 0.01 0.6 0.01 There is a light covering of snow on the lawn and weather deck but the driveway is clear with the temperature of the pavement around 40 F. The barometer is rising at 30.1 in Hg , the temperature is 28 F and winds are calm. We are on the northern tip of this weather system that extends down to southern Texas. There was significantly more snow in the cylinder than on the snow table. I assume that the wind blew it in the cylinder. The end result is that the melted snow from the cylinder has 10 times the amount of melted snow from the snow table. While MI-ME-2 is in Detroit this station will be the reference for our area as we are only 2.2 miles apart.

4/26/2010 8:15 AM 2.58 M M M M We’re back in Tampa for a little while and last night we enjoyed a group of very heavy storms. The heaviest precipitation was for about an hour when we had 2.47 inches of rain. Overnight the rain total was 2.58 inches. Winds peaked above 40 mph and visibility was zero from 7 until 7:30 p.m. Lightning was virtually continuous and one of the local weather channels had equipment that counted 547 strikes in 15 minutes. We were also under a tornado watch. Evidently north of us there was some hail. All in all it was an exciting evening. Tampa Bay lived up to its reputation for having very large numbers of thunderstorms.
4/27/2010 8:15 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M A very pleasant 67F morning with no precipitation in the immediate area. Winds are calm and the barometer is rising slightly at 29.72 in. Hg.
4/28/2010 8:15 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M We’ve had no precipitation. This morning is very pleasant with a 61F temperature. The barometer is rising at 29.88 in. Hg. Around one this morning there were a few 26 mph gusts out of the north but winds are calm at our measurement time of 8:15 a.m..
4/29/2010 8:15 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M We have no precipitation to report on a clear 56F morning with dead calm winds and a slightly unsteady barometer at 29.53 in. Hg.
4/30/2010 8:15 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M No precipitation yet but at 8:15 a.m. we have a somewhat muggy 73F morning with 3 mph SSE winds and a 29.86 In. Hg barometer. Skies are hazy as moisture builds and rain is predicted but there is none in our region at this time. According to our friend and expert observer, MI-ME-2, it is almost as warm in Michigan as it is here.
5/1/2010 8:15 AM T M M M M We’ve had a trace of precipitation over the last 24 hours. This morning is quite muggy; the temperature is 74F and is rising quickly. Winds are out of the SE at 6 mph. The barometer is 28.98 In. Hg. Rain is in the forecast for next week.
5/2/2010 8:15 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M We’ve had no precipitation on another warm morning with a 76F temperature. We were up at three a.m. to check on what sounded like distant thunder (it wasn’t) and the temperature was 78F. SE winds are 3 mph with a few 10 mph gusts. The barometer is steady at 28.98 In. Hg.
5/4/2010 8:15 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Again it’s dry and we have a slight, 3 mph S breeze on a 76F morning. The barometer is at 28.93 In. Hg and, for the moment, is steady. Rain is in the forecast--maybe it will happen!
5/5/2010 8:15 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Still no precipitation and we sit with a little front trying to either give us some rain or some fog or maybe even drier weather. Not a very explicit forecast but it’s all we have. There is a steady barometer at 29.83 In. Hg and calm, for the moment, winds. Perhaps this rather dull weather is typical of the Cinco de Mayo.
5/6/2010 8:15 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M No precipitation but the temperature, 76F, and dew point, 75.6F are butting heads so there is a hint of fog at 8:15 a.m. We see some small showers in the region but none have shown yet. Winds are calm and the barometer is 29.83 In. Hg.
5/7/2010 8:15 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M No rain so far on this 76F morning. The barometer is 29.92 In Hg. and winds are dead calm. This is starting to look like an extended central Florida dry spell.
5/8/2010 8:15 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M No rain at this location but some great looking cumulonimbus clouds off in the distance yesterday afternoon. It’s 76F again and the barometer seems stuck around 29.93 In Hg. There were a few packets of wind out of the NW that felt a little cooler and drier but perhaps that is wishful thinking.
