7/19/2010 8:00 AM M 0.0 M M M
7/20/2010 8:15 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M No rain here at our new location in Oldsmar. The temperature is 82F and rising quickly at 8:15 this morning. The barometer is 30.05 in. Hg and slowly rising and winds are calm except for occasional ground attached 6 mph packets our of the West. Yesterday saw a record temperature of 96F at the Tampa International Airport but our temperature maxed out at 93F.
7/21/2010 8:15 AM 0.38 M M M M We had 0.38 inches of rain in a short time yesterday afternoon. The temperature is starting again at 82F but will skyrocket well into the 90’s before the day is over. The wind is out of the E at 4 mph and the barometer is at 30.08 in, Hg.
7/22/2010 8:15 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M We’ve had no precipitation and it is slightly cooler at 78F but again rising quickly. Today’s prediction is for 94F. Winds are calm and the barometer is rising slowly at 30.06 in. Hg. Rain is in the forecast for tomorrow evening. We’re keeping an eye on tropical depression three presently in the Bahamas. Once in the Gulf these storms have to hit somewhere on the coast.
7/23/2010 8:15 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M No rain as yet. The temperature is 80F at 8:15 a.m. and there are NE winds at 5 mph. The NE component is likely to be because of tropical storm Bonnie with it’s CCW rotation. The barometer is at 29.92 in. Hg and somewhat unsteady. There are always concerns in the Tampa Bay area because of the potential for Gulf storms to blow water into the bay and cause very high tides. Storms that move east of us can blow the water out but that’s probably not going to happen this time.
7/24/2010 8:15 AM 0.23 M M M M An afternoon shower gave us 0.23 inches of rain. With the cloud cover and shifting winds we had a much cooler afternoon and the temperature dropped from 89F to 79F. Tropical storm Bonnie decreased to a tropical depression and was far enough west that the rain shield didn’t have a substantial impact here.
7/25/2010 8:15 AM 0.78 M M M M A rather strong thunderstorm late in the afternoon gave us 0.78 inches of rain. I wanted to get an idea of the rainfall rate but near-by lightning, about 1000 feet away, kept me inside. As the clouds built the temperature started at 92F and dropped below 80F as the rain started.
7/26/2010 8:15 AM 0.29 M M M M Another brief shower after 6 p.m. gave us 0.29 inches of rain. These are pop-up storms as they seem to appear out of nowhere. This particular one showed some signs of rotation but didn’t have much wind, 6 mph WSW, at this location
7/27/2010 8:15 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M No rain to report. This morning was slightly cooler at 78F, winds are calm and the barometer is rising slowly at 30.26 in. Hg. Again the heat index is predicted to be above 105, a dangerous number.
7/30/2010 8:15 AM 1.38 M M M M With a dangerously high heat index, ~106, we had a cooling one hour storm that gave us 1.38 inches of rain. Every storm indicated rotation and was displayed as a mesocyclone on radar.
7/31/2010 8:15 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M No rain and continued heat index advisories. Some clouds but any precipitation is offshore so far.
8/1/2010 8:15 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M
8/2/2010 8:15 AM 0.27 M M M M The fringes of a strong thunderstorm at 10 p.m. last night gave us 0.27 inches of rain. This type of storm erupts quite suddenly although we are more used them at the waters edge where the first blast of cool air means to seek cover!
8/3/2010 8:15 AM 0.39 M M M M
8/5/2010 8:15 AM 1.29 M M M M An early evening storm moved on by and left 1.29 inches of rain and loads of lightning. This seems to be the recent norm as opposed to earlier p.m storms.
8/6/2010 8:15 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M
8/7/2010 8:00 AM 0.17 M M M M We're getting much earlier showers, something that may indicate some Gulf development. Hopefully not!
8/8/2010 8:15 AM 0.42 M M M M
8/9/2010 8:15 AM 0.37 M M M M This was no local storm, it covered quite a large area although we didn't get hit as hard as some nearby areas. The lawn is growing fast by the day!
