Winds are out of the East-NEast, about 5-10 and created some drifts early this am, but no more snow falling now. Snow started about 10 pm last night, and ended at 11:30 am this day. Digging out the drive is the job before us now, as we did get some drifts during the night.
2/23/2010 8:00 AM 1.10 M M M M Heavy rains and storm rumbled through the area during late evening and early morning hours, leaving downed trees and power outages in a large area. Sun came out following all this and made humidity sky-rocket to high % numbers. Current temp is 78 degrees. Have a safe and wonderful day!
2/25/2010 8:00 AM 0.30 5.5 0.30 6.0 M Two days of lake effect snow, total snow amount over 5", with melted total of .30" Shoveled out the drive and decks after getting home at 3pm yesterday, and after attending services at church in evening, had to shovel again. 2/27/2010 6:00 PM 0.28 5.0 0.28 8.2 M After a busy day and night of lake effect snow compounded with the remains of the storm that hit the NE Coast, we have SNOW!I have over 8" of snow accumalated on my snowboard, and have .23" of melted snow in the guage. Interesting that by evening of the 27th, the snowboard was measuring only 4" of snow after a warming trend came in and some rain late last night. We now are showing even more melting with temps in the low 30's and looks like we will lose more on Sunday.
2/28/2010 9:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M 3.5 M Received just a trace of moisture over-night, nothing measureable. Temps are already in the melting mode, 33 degrees at 08:00. Where paths are shoveled in the yard, green grass is showing and thawing is occurring.
3/11/2010 9:00 PM 0.28 0.0 M 0.0 M Just got back from the sunny shores of Gulf Shores AL, had a great time warming up from cold winter. The past 24 hours here have given us .28 inches of rain, and snow is all but gone, only shaded areas are snow covered, but rain will soon cause that to go away.
3/13/2010 7:00 AM 0.26 0.0 M M M Overcast and windy as this Saturday morning begins. Have recorded moisture in the guage, and have lost all of our snow. Temp at 7am was 48.3 degrees, chilly with the Easterly wind, approx 10 mph. Forecast is for more rain and drizzle all day, and of course we lose an hour of sleep tonight, as we "Spring ahead" still in the winter season.
3/17/2010 9:00 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M We have been blessed with clear warm skies, during the day and cool nights this week.Weather is supposed to change to cold and wet this weekend, waiting to see. No recorded precipitation the past three days, currently 47 degrees here in Barry Co.

3/31/2010 4:00 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M We are very dry here right now! A warning was issued this afternoon concerning a "WEATHER FIRE WARNING". I have never heard this before, but I do know that when I applied for a burn permit yesterday, it was denied and on account of the dry windy weather we have had. Temp is currently 73 degrees, with a SSE wind, upwards to 20 mph. Very nice day for sun and working outside.
4/3/2010 12:00 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M "Currently", we are awaiting the first measureable rain this spring. It is coming, radar shows it is just off shore over Lake Michigan, moving slowly NE. Weather cooperated with all out door activities for all. Temp hit a high of 70, no moisture received, and humidity is moderate.Looks like rain is on its way for overnight, will report tomorrow.

4/6/2010 8:00 AM 0.50 M M M M Had a great light show late last night, while the DUKE Bluedevils beat the Dogs of Butler. Total measurement this am was .5 inches of rain, a total of 1.06 inches this week so far. The radar is showing a huge accumalation of moisture over Lake Michigan, heading our way. Will report tomorrow.
4/7/2010 9:00 AM 0.26 M M M M Received a lot of rain in a short period of time yesterday. .26 inches in less than an hour, and then sunshine! There was considerable damage south of us during the day and night, lots of travel trailors flipped over, hail and water, siding blown off the sides of really nice homes, also agricultural damage to barns, silos, and sprinkling towers. Currently today, we are receiving hit and miss sessions of rain. I have driven from Hastings, Kalamazoo, Holland, and presently in Grand Rapids, and it is raining lightly. More expected this afternoon and evening, then a cold front moving in with possible snow flurries due. BRRRRRRR! Have a great day, it is currently 65 degrees in Grand Rapids.
4/8/2010 5:00 PM 0.53 M M M M Just over a half inch of moisture from yesterday morning to this am. Had a very wet and dreary day Wednesday, and now it is windy and cool. No moisture since 7 am, but wind is extremely stiff and cool. Looking at possible snow flurries late tonight, come on! It would not be April in Michigan without some inclement weather. Temp is currently 48 degrees and overcast, no rain.
4/12/2010 12:00 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M Even though rain was in the forecast for the weekend, we received 0-nada, rain. Rain gauge was bone dry, and we enjoyed sunny warm weather outdoors Sat and Sunday. Rain is forecast today for our area, nothing showing as yet. Warm air has moved in from the SW, we may have moisture late tonight. Have a great day, be a blessing to someone!
4/15/2010 6:00 PM 0.03 M M M M The past three days have been relatively dry as far a rain and accumalted moisture is concerned. Total amount of precipitation during the three day period is a scant .03 inches. We enjoyed a wonderful warm and sunny day today, temps are looking to plunge in te next 36 hours, and moisture is included in the forecast. Have a great day, be a blessing to someone tomorrow!
4/24/2010 2:00 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M We have not had any recordable amounts of moisture for over a week, supposed to have received some last night but gauge was dry this am. Storms raging in the deep south, pushing warmer air our way may bring some showers late tonight and early Sunday, we will see. Looks like a warmer week is approaching, hopefully some rain will come with it, garden is drying out and the chemicals on the yards are not getting washed into the soil like they should. Have a great day, be a blessing to someone today!
4/25/2010 8:00 AM 0.15 M M M M The projected rain and thunderstorm activity failed to produce any significant amounts of moisture last night. We received .15 inches of accumalated moisture, and no lightening or severe weather. To the north, Traverse City and the Straits area, severe wind, rain and thunderstorms were recorded late in the afternoon and early evening yesterday, but nothing here in SW Michigan. Our hearts go out to those in the South, who lost loved ones and homes and material possessions, what a day they had yesterday! Anyway, .15 inches of rain here, no severe wind or lightening, currently overcastand 53 degrees, wind out of the East, barely turning the wind gauge. Have a safe and great day!
4/26/2010 6:00 AM 0.60 M M M M We had a delightful soaking this weekend, recorded .6 of an inch of moisture Sunday, bringing the weekend total to .9 tenths of an inch. this will help all of us who worked hard last week preparig our lawns for the summer. Temp at 6 am is 52 degrees, clearing skies currently, and no wind this am. Have a great day, think of those who had a not-so nice weekend in the South, who are picking up their belongings and preparing to bury their dead.
5/3/2010 6:00 AM 0.65 M M M M Received considerable amount of precip Sat-Sun am,Approx 3Am was hArdest amount. One mile south of us received hail the size of a quarter. 5/8/2010 6:00 PM 0.93 M M M M Where did all the rain come from? When I left on early Friday morning to travel to southern Ohio, and then head East to Toronto, and get back to southern MI, we collected .93 inches of water. The wind has been sending temps to cooler ranges, and friends in WI told me they had a 3 inch snowfall yesterday! So much forglobal warming! Anyway, cooler temps are the experience today, wind chill is taking almost 10 degrees off the air temp. Cloudy skies have been prevailing all weekend, with a chance of more showers late tonight. Sunday, Mothers Day, is supposed to clear up and end the rain until late Tuesday evening. Enjoy the day tomorrow with loved ones.
5/12/2010 9:00 AM 0.80 M M M M The past 24 hours has given us a .80 reading in the rain guage, most of which fell in the early hours of Tuesday morning. While driving yesterday to Indy, down I-69, I drove through the storm cells that eventually created the Tornado that hit near Bowling Green, Ohio. That is fun in a semi-tractor truck! Anyway, no measureable amount of moisture overnite, temps are in the high 40"s, and humidity near 95%. We are forecasted for more storm activity this afternoon early evening and more measureable rain through the night. Current temp under cloudy skies, 48 degrees. Have a great day!
5/14/2010 6:00 AM 0.93 M M M M Received monsoon like rains here early morning thru the day and ended late in the evening. This report is posted late due to being away from home on business. The fields around us were holding enough water to float aa boat, a big boat! Hope the crops were not in yet!
5/18/2010 6:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M No measureable amount of rainfall in the past 72 hours, some south of us and more north of Grand Rapids, currently. Temps down a bit today due to cloud cover, but clear skies forecast for tomorrow.Started out with northerly winds early this am, changed over to SE winds and presently easterly, dying off.Warm weather is a coming, lets hope!
5/21/2010 10:00 AM 0.30 M M M M Started to receive rain early in the am hours, a real good soaker! With gardens in and lawns growing like there is no tomorrow, this will help out greatly! Currently we have received .30 inches of measureable rain, temp is 60 degrees and we have light winds out of the NE. Rains should stop in about an hour, according to the radar. Hope everyone has a great weekend, will report total rainfall later.
5/23/2010 6:00 PM 0.67 M M M M What a glorious day today was, still cooking out there! Started out yesterday like it was going to be a nasty wet and overcast day, but the clouds cleared out and the sun made the day very rewarding for garden and yard work. Today started at 68 degrees, and high humidity, but after church and dinner, finished the mowing I could not get done yesterday. We had a record of precipitation at .67 inches from Friday am- Sat am, sorry about being a day behind. Have a great evening and a wonderful week, summer is a coming!
5/26/2010 4:00 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M What a wonderful summer "like" day! While driving about our beautiful State today, no rain or moisture was encountered. We are supposed to receive some rain this evening and into the night, we shall see. Currently, no moisture to report for the past three days, and weekend is looking to be dry as well, means we have sprinklers to move about if we have gardens in! Hope you get some heaven senr rain where ever you are! We are going to be Lighthouse Keepers the next two weeks, at Big Sable Point Light, near Ludington, come on up and see us if you have time!Currently, we are at 87 degrees, 82% humidity, feels like HOT!:-) Have a safe and memorable Memorial Day!
5/31/2010 6:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M A wonderful Memorial Day to you all, hope you have a memorable day and safe day, as we honor those who have paid the price for our freedom! Currently, no recordable moisture at our station, hear rumblings in the distance, radar showing a band of thunderstorms stretching out into lake Michigan near Grand Haven and south to South Haven. We are currently positioned at the Ludington Big Sable Light House, for the next two weeks where we serve as Keepers. Presently we have 71% humidity, fog and no wind. As I said, rumblings of thunder all around, showers north at Manistee, and south at Grand Haven. Have a blessed day, be a blessing to someone today!
6/16/2010 6:00 AM 1.09 M M M M Woke up this am and found we had received a goodly amount of rain. Bad grammar but you get the idea! No storms so we had a good soaker, and the garden needed it, even after the five(5) inches we got last week. Humidity is at 88% and falling a bit, supposed to be warmer and clearing, but the weather outside is damp and gloomy. Hope you all have a blessed day!
6/17/2010 8:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Woke up to a beautiful sunrise, no rain on the agenda for today, just a great cool day and more to come! Hummidity is high, 88%, and temp is currently 70 degrees. 6/19/2010 9:00 AM 0.40 M M M M After what we thought was going to be a big storm last night, we only received .4 inches of rain. A lot of wind and tree damage was realized by both county residents and we ourselves , but no fatalities like that in MN. We lost the top out of an apple tree behind the housr, but nothing else. Thank goodness the hay is all up! Drove through southern Indiana on Thursday, what a mess! Flooded fields, beans under water, corn up four feet with a foot of water covering the roots, not good for Indiana farmers. Anyway, here is the weather here in s/c MI, partley cloudy, temp is 73 degrees, humidity at 88 %, expected highs in the low 90's, with a chance of rain showers later today. Have a great week end, and Happy Fathers Day!
6/20/2010 8:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Good Fathers Day to all of you fathers out there! Currently it is 66 degrees in SC Michigan, sun is shining and a cool breeze is blowing out of the SW. The humidity has dropped a few percentage points and has made it a rather comfortable morning. Rain gauge is empty, and only a few showers are showing up on extended radar, SW of Chicago at this time. Indiana, does not need any more rain, but we all know who controls that issue.Have a great day, be safe and enjoy the family!

7/9/2010 8:00 AM 1.03 M M M M Rain gauge was full and spilling into large catch jar, measured 1.03 inches the past 24 hours. Had heavy rains through our area Thursday late morning and early afternoon, good for the yards and gardens. Some minor field flooding due to run off, but nothing significant. I drove through a lot of the storms coming from Canada, yesterday afternoon. Lots of standing water on highways, and all the construction zones were slow going. Have a great weekend, currently it is 70 degrees and overcast, high humidity.
7/12/2010 8:00 AM 0.35 M M M M The past 24 hours has produced .35 inches of precipitation here in SW MI. 7/17/2010 8:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M The heat is on and the moisture is non-existant, currently! This past week,Wednesday, we recorded .30 inches in an hour, but cleared up shortly after that. I was on the road, but experienced the wrath of nature in Eau Claire, WI. Was relaxing in the motel pool when I heard a rattling noise and wondered what was happening. All of a sudden, golf ball size hail started hitting us in the pool, and we quick headed for the room. Within moments, the weather alert sirens started to sound and we were asked to go to the safe room in the motel. I went outside and watched the sky, and a tornado was in the neighborhood, not on the ground but rolling above us. We had a total of three recorded tornado cells, and some tree damage along the I-94 corridor east of Eau Claire. No injuries, but soon was all clear and we went out to eat. Currently here in SW MI, it is sunny, humid, and breezy, expecting some moisture later today and tomorrow. have a blessed day!

7/23/2010 7:00 PM 0.47 M M M M This has been some exciting weather we have been having! Yesterday, as I was returning from a delivery to Canada, the skies turned black and all of a sudden we were under a tornado warning and across the field from the warehouse where I was, was a tornado, touching down at the WK Kellogg Air Field. No serious damage was to be found, but loss of power to the air field was still evident this afternoon. But, lo and behold, upon my return from another trip today from Ohio, we had another "pop-corn" storm and we had well over an inch of rain in less than an hour. And again, the tornado warnings were issued andwe all headed for some kind of cover. No tornado was produced, but we did take a hit of lightening on our warehouse, too close for comfort! Back to weather observations, we had .47 inches of rain in our gauge at home, fell after 2 pm and ended before 6 pm. Humidity is 87%, temp is a heavy-muggy 82 degrees. Have a great weekend, keep your eyes open!

8/9/2010 6:00 PM 0.40 M M M M A late morning rain and all afternoon rain brought some relief to the yards and gardens in our area. It is not enough to really help long range, but more is on its way, in a day or two. Very humid currently, temps are still in the 80's, and no wind. Going to be sticky if one does not have an A/C. Have a great day!
