2/12/2010 7:00 AM T T T T T Fri am 29º (WC=23º), WS mild breezes, cloudy w/o even a hint of a sunrise, H = 85%, AP 30.01". Thurs Temps = 35/18º, never a sign of the sun, SE mild breezes, H fell into low 60's, AP down to 30.0-". The mud & mire's getting thicker & "gooier". The grassed areas aren't giving up the remains of the "Snow Dunes". Light sporadic flurries in am.
2/13/2010 7:00 AM T T T T T Sat. am 30º (WC = 22º), S breezes near 10mph, H = 93%, AP @ 29.98". Light Snow Flurries still falling. Under Freezing Fog Advisory until 10am - they're right, can't see much of anything but White. Fri Temps = 39/27º, varying W breezes not over 10mph, hazy & cloudy all day w/never a sign of sun, H fell into lower 70's & AP W 30.04". Well, all of the Continental U.S. had measurable Snow today - but not us, again, light & sporadic flurries all day & night but nothing more than a trace of Snow - not convertible to measurable water (i.e. not .01"). They say it is a 1st in U.S. history since they starting keeping records.
2/14/2010 7:00 AM T T T T T Sun. 7am 33º, thick clouds, NW gusting winds fr hi teens into mid-20mph, H=83%m AP @ 30.01. Sat. Sun tried, a couple of times, to make an appearance but never succeeded. Ice Fog not as bad as the last time (trees not covered in Ice) & never totally lifted - left a haze. What a day, trying to get cows w/newborn calves in for tagging, tattooing & moving to different pasture - ground split between frozen & deep mud, not to mention broken up due to tractor (when giving hay) & cows' feet digging into ground.
2/15/2010 6:45 AM 0.02 0.3 0.02 0.3 0.02 Mon 6:45am 17º, (WC=4º) NW gusting winds from mid-teens, light Snow Crystals, H=80%, AP 29.98". Fiercely blowing winds make measuring accum. difficult but have a little over 1/4" which melted to .02" water. Please note that we have had Snow flurries every day for at least a week;, mostly, however, it has been negligible. Sun. Temps = 36/19º, thick clouds w/sun trying to make appearances about 3 to 4 pm, but replaced w/light Snow showers, strong & gusting NW into about 30mph, H fell into low 40's & AP 30.11". Snow "flakes" were extremely small, more like Ice crystals & blowing all over the place. Winter Weather Advisory issued @ 11pm thru Mon. 9am & into late am for Snow & gusting NW winds @ 35mph +.
2/16/2010 7:00 AM T T T T T Tues am 17% (WC=5º), NW winds in low teens, H=69%, AP 29.68". A lovely sunrise mixed w/clouds. Needless to say, everything iced over & well out again - just what one needs w/over 80 head of cattle & cows calving. At least if we had a quantity of Snow on the ground, they would be guaranteed a little to drink. Mon Temps = 29/15º, NW gusting winds from mid 20mph, H fell into low 50% range & AP in low 30.--". Never saw the sun for the Snow flurries. Well went out in late afternoon & was able to get it back up. Just what one needs when ponds frozen.
2/17/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Wed am 19º (WC=10º), winds W in low teens mph, looks like it will be sunny,H=80%, AP@30.16". Supposed to be in low 40's & sunny today, maybe some of the ice will melt. Right now everything still frosty & frozen. Tues Temps = 32/17º, mostly cloudy, H fell into mid-50% & AP = 30.24". No Snow flurries - sort of missed them. Hopefully well fixed & calving continues. It is very nice when the dams allow you to pet their newborns & check them over - wouldn't have a dam on the place who didn't allow that.

Light rain showers started about 5pm & by 9 were pretty steady continuing thru the night.
2/22/2010 7:00 AM 0.28 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Mon am 27º (WC=17º), NW winds in low teens mph, H=88%, AP @ 29.93". A frosty morn - puddles have from solid ice to slush, grass crusty. Sun. Temps = 50/30º, icy rain most of day, H in 80's & 80's, NW winds in hi teens & gusting. Periods of heavy Fog in afternoon - never lasting long, but all encompassing. A very depressing, muddy day - not only the weather, but that we were loading up excess bulls for sale on Monday. Hate to sell them at the market - no personal contact w/buyer. But, even hate when we sell them to people we know, we miss our cattle - each & every one is a member of the family.

Much drier @ end of day than @ beginning.
2/28/2010 7:15 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Sun. 7:15am a frosty 18º (no WC), winds calm, sunny, winds calm, H=77%, AP 30.12". Sat. Temps = 43/21º, sunny w/minimal clouds, N & NW winds varying from single digits to mid-teens, H down to low 40's, AP 30.05". No precip whatsoever & everything drying out nicely & quickly (that's the type of land we have). What's better yet is that it was a beautiful, uneventful day for weaning & everything went smoothly - except for the 1 calf that likes to face backwards when going thru the chute, but even that was uneventful as he turned when guided. This was only the 4th time in almost 10 years we worked cattle & the weather didn't "act up".
3/1/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Mon am 30º (AP=22%), icy & cutting NE winds in single digits, no sign of sun or sunrise, H=77%%, AP 30.13". Sun. Everything drying out rather nicely & leaving hi mounds & deep ruts (to 28") from the tractor & pick-up when feeding livestock. A lot of extra work to be done after the lower ground dries out & before the real dry period sets in, otherwise it will be virtually impossible to cut the hay.
3/3/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Wed am 21º, WN virtually nil breeze, sunny, H=95%, AP 30.11". Tues Temps = 43/25º, thick clouds until about 3pm when sun started to break thru, H down into 40's, AP 30.06". A dampish feel to air, but ground is still drying out.

Again, everything with light covering of frost. Wed Temps = 48/21º, sunny, N & NA winds into mid-teens mph, H fell to 30%, AP @ 30.18". Not a bad day, esp. since could take pick-up out of 4-wheel drive when doing chores, as it has dried out so much.

Fri Temps = 62/31º, SE & ES winds into mid-teens mph, sun broke thru clouds shortly after noon & stayed strong rest of day, H fell into hi 20's, AP 30.18". Drying out of ground continues, but so wet it is slow going. You walk on what looks & feels dry to the touch, but underneath is wet, which you find out as your feet sink down - don't ask about vehicles, it's a "no brainer".

Winds so fierce last night that very little additional water remains in the puddles. Wed Temps = 75/38º, sunny until clouds started moving in about 2pm, 1st Thunder w/some Precip. about 4:20pm, next @ 6pm & T-storms moved in about 6:30 whipping with a fury - winds gusting from mid-20's into hi 30's, rains almost vertical. It was all over a little after 9pm - of course, just as we were finishing up feeding the livestock & we were thoroughly soaked & mud coated.

Just not too nice a day, esp. w/the increasing mud, muck & mire. This weather doesn't bode well for this weekend when working cattle (was hoping it would be the 5th time in almost 10 yrs that the weather cooperated & didn't rain, snow....), & it is the beginning of Spring.

Mon Temps = 52/30º, varying W winds mostly in single digits, strong sun (melting was quick & so was flooding of fields & run-offs), H in 40's & 50's, AP 29.-- from low 30.'s. Several of youngest calves had to be helped out of the mud as they stopped running in the worst of it & couldn't get out. We must spoil our cows as they just bellowed for us to come & "save" their babies instead of pushing them out.

Sat. Temps = 66/41º, varying S winds in mid 20's & gusting. Wind Advisory issued about 9am for SE sustained 30 to 35mph winds gusting to 45+mph thru 5pm today. Mixed clouds & sun, w/clouds predominate. About 4:15pm loud Thunder & then rain squalls began. About 5:30pm Hail dumped (about size of coarsely ground Sea Salt), covering everything in a 1/2" layer. More tree limbs down.
3/29/2010 6:45 AM 0.03 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Mon 6:45am 31º, virtually no SW breeze, can see a pink sunrise thru the Fog, everything crispy, H=97%, AP 30.03". Sun. Temps = 52/40º, N & NW gusty winds from mid-20's but diminishing thru day, sun sort of out by 9:15am but gone by 11am, winds drying out ground in spite of light drizzle sporadically thru day. Not the nicest of days, but at least can look forward to a dry & very warm/sunny week - if forecasters are right.
3/30/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Tues am 47º (WC 42º), S & SE winds in the low teens, sunny w/thick clouds behind sun, H=56%, AP 29.88". Under Fire Weather Watch all day Wed. & into night. Mon Temps = 63/31º, H fell into mid-hi 30's, AP 30.05". A nice strong sun w/varying W breezes accomplished a lot of drying, but those mud/mire holes still abound & run-offs still pretty full.
3/31/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Wed am 58º, SW strong & gusting winds from low 20's to hi 20's (& getting stronger), sunny, H 57%, AP 29.66". Tues Temps = 77/41º, a very nice warm sun, S winds from 27mph & gusting, H fell into low 20's. Everything is drying out & leaving very uneven ground which, coupled w/the strong gusting (& sometimes whipping) winds, makes walking interesting - if you want to stay upright. Tree's still losing limbs & small branches (probably weakened by storms earlier this year).
4/1/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Thurs am 60º. SW gusty winds in hi teens, sunny & Spring-like, H = 68%, AP 29.79". Only scattered areas of wet ground as most has dried up to a very hard, rock-like consistency. The wet areas, however, can still be like quicksand.

Fri Temps = 70/53º, rain started about 10:45am (vs 2pm forecast) & progressed to T-storms lasting until about 4pm (gauge = .54") when sky lightened & some sun could be seen. Heavy "all-obscuring" mists during heaviest of downpours. Tho loud, booming Thunder, no lightening. Light showers later - about 10pm. During rain storms WN winds in hi teens, after 4pm switched to S & SE diminishing into low teens.

Forecast still calls for T-storms today & the air has a "calm before the storm" feeling & a haze (but we didn't work cattle yesterday nor are we going to today - tomorrow night, however, is another story. It will probably rain, esp. as we have to load some up on the trailer). Sun. Temps = 81/52º mostly a nice strong sun, S & SW gusting winds from low 30's, H about 45% & increasing, AP 29.84".
4/6/2010 6:30 AM T 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Tues 6:30am 63º, SW winds from 20mph gusting to mid-hi 20's, looks like w/b sunny, H=74%, AP 29.69. Under Wind Advisory fr. 9am until 7pm = sustained S & SW winds fr. 30 mph gusting to 45+. Going out to vote this am was an interesting experience - the winds wanted to force the car to go to the E - when I was driving N. T-storrms forecasted for after 3pm today (we're loading cattle this evening - best chance for inclement weather). Mon Temps = 78/59º, mostly sunny (except when T-storms threatened - but never materialized), S & SW gusting & storm-like winds in hi teens & low 20's, H in low 60's-low 70's, AP 29.93". About 7:15pm a quick spray of water (could have been a flock of birds flying over).
4/7/2010 7:00 AM 0.20 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Wed am 56º, H=93%, AP 29.62", looks cloudy, W & WS winds in low teens. T-storm w/Hail hit @ 2am & rushed thru the area on its march East. More T-storms forecast for later today. At least it didn't storm during the time we worked cattle last night (the 5th time in 10 yrs). Tues Temps = 79/60º, mixed clouds & sun, H fell into mid-40's during day, AP 29.63". SW & S strongly gusting winds fr 30mph & up. Several times looked & felt like storms imminent, but nothing materialized. About 8:30pm could see lightening to E & NE as T-storms "slowly" made their way here, but nary a drop before midnight.
4/8/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Thurs am 35º (WC = 29º - thought WC figures were finished for the year), H=89%, AP 29.97. Everything has a thin coating of ice! Our wild pear tree had beautiful blossoms - hope the frost last pm & this won't kill the fruit, as it has for the past 2 yrs. Wed Temps = 70/43º, W & SW gusting winds fr mid-teens to mid-20mph. Sunny except for short periods of threatening overcast.

Tho grass wet, only 1 vehicle has any Frost on it - & that appeared after 6:15am. Thurs Temps = 61/35º, mostly sunny (some periods of "threatening" clouds), cutting NW winds fr hi teens to mid-20mph, H down into hi 20's, AP 30.07".

Fri Temps = 70/35º, sunny w/fluffy white scattered clouds, SW winds reaching hi teens, H fell into low 20's, AP 30.12". A lovely, if windy day - everything's drying out & ground is turning to rock. "Landscaping" crew on duty "mowing, watering, edging, fertilizing" lawn - silly to use a mower when the livestock need grass & the Lawn came in best so far & needs mowing. The Pear Tree seems to have overcome the frosts & maybe we'll have some of those delicious pears this year (haven't had any in 3 yrs). Maybe the cherries, plums & mulberries will also return.
4/11/2010 7:15 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Sun. 7:15am 49º (WC 45º), SE winds in low teens, strong sun, H=69, AP 30.22". Sat. Temps = 75/45º, a nice & strong sun w/a few light clouds, mostly SW winds in hi teens (w/come variations to S & SE), H fell into low 20's, AP 30.16". Another lovely day.

Another .02" rain fell after emptied gauge & before the next round of T-storms w/Tornado warnings came in evening thru night. About 9pm winds got really ugly as T-storms (without a lot of rain) moved in w/Tornado watches & warnings. This was a little nerve-wracking as they were mentioning our roads/towns as in the direct path of anything that actually formed.
5/12/2010 7:00 AM 0.03 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Wed am 70º, S & SE winds in low teens, cloudy but lighter to N & E, H=89%, DP 66º, 29.84". T-storms due back early afternoon & under Flash Flood Watch from late tonight the late tomorrow night - last week was dry (6th time) when we started AI process, but guess not tonight. Gauge emptied @ .03", giving us 1.11" from the 9th thru this am. Puddles just about disappeared as ground so dry, but waterways & draining areas loaded & the mud is back. Tues Temps = 79/58º, mixed sun/clouds, mild WS & EN breezes, H=69%, DP 61º, AP 29.91". Rains & strong winds moved back in about 9pm w/heavy Lightening all around, but no Thunder & continued thru the night. Electric out from 10:12pm for 2 hrs.
5/13/2010 6:45 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 As no Precip. until 5:30am, gauge was empty all day yesterday & will give accumulation from 5:30 this am in tomorrows report. Thurs 6:45am 62º, mixed EN & SE winds about 10mph, H=92%, DP 60º, AP 92.29". T-storms moved in, w/heavy, consistent rain (so heavy @ periods that it looks like Fog about 300 yds away), about 5:30am, quickly flooding everything & bringing back large puddles. Guess that the grass will continue to get greener & taller - but why do the weeds get even greener, grow faster & taller than the grass! Under Flash Flood Watch thru tonight & Severe T-storm Warning until 8am today. Wed Temps = 83/69º, mostly cloudy w/strong S winds in the low 20mph range, H=64%, DP 66º, AP 29.82". T-storms moving into area stalled & didn't reach us by 9pm as forecasted.
5/14/2010 6:45 AM 1.42 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Fri 6:45am 53º, NE & EN mild breezes, H=96%, DP 54º, AP 30.23". Hiatus in rain shows gauge accum. addit'l. 1.04" since T-storms began @ 12:30am = 1.42" from Thurs afternoon thru this am. By time filing this report @ 7am, T-storms back again. Under (1) 2 Flash Flood Warnings (1 thru 9am & the other thru noon today) & Flash Flood Watch thru tonight. This weather is insane, but if we go 10 days to 2 weeks will be solidly dried out & praying for more rain. Ground thoroughly saturated & water running rampant. Thurs Temps = 57/75º (Temps fell steadily thru day until about 1:30 when short period went up & then down again), WN & SW winds in mid-teens & hi single digits, H=90%, DP 57º, AP 60.08". Between 5:30-7:20am gauge accum. 1.07" rain, &, from 2:40-3:60pm = .38 (a short-lived T-,storm), giving a total of 1.45".
5/15/2010 6:45 AM 1.18 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Sat. 6:45am 56º, ES winds approaching teens mph, thick clouds & misting, H=99%, DP 57º, AP 30.11". Gauge from Fri (1.10") + earlier this am (.08") = 1.18". Total accum since start of these Storms on May 9th = 4.78".Under both Flood Warning (until 10am) & Flash Flood Watch (until 1pm). Place looks like a pig's sty - muddy, puddly, water running everywhere - just not deep on the Homestead. More T-storms & Showers due in a little while. Fri Temps = 63/53º, varying E winds from hi single digits into mid-teens mph, H=93%, DP 54º, AP 30.28". Rains/T-Storms (some quite violent) ended between 1 & 2 pm w/gauge accum = 1.10". Lightening strikes caused only momentarily electric disruptions.
5/16/2010 7:00 AM 0.46 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Sun. 7am 63º, raining, S & ES mild breezes, H=100%, DP 63º, AP 30.03" & the Fog (which started late yest. afternoon is even thicker). As still raining (T-storms approaching) didn't empty gauge, just read it - coupled w/what rec'd in Sat's wee hours (.08) + what started when we began AI'g, add additional .46" to the total from the start of these storms on 5/9. Flash Flood Watch still in effect until 7pm. Sat. Temps = 67/56º, E & ES breezes/winds from hi single digits into mid-teens mph, H=94%, DP 61º, AP 30.21". Light rain started to fall just as we were headed to the Barn @ 10am to start AI'g & cont'd pretty much thru day. Why aren't we surprised?! Late this am Flash Flood Watch extended thru Sunday evening.
5/17/2010 6:45 AM 1.04 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Mon 6:45am 57º, NW mild breeze, cloudy (but w/signs of sun breaking thru), H=99%, DP 57º, AP 30.02". Flood Warning extended to 10pm tonight. Sun. Temps = 73/57º, varying mild N breezes, H=93, DP 63º%, AP 30.04". Actually had periods of sun & clouds mixed w/sun - all appearance of sun followed by sudden short spurts of rain (some rather heavy). T-storm moved in about 9:15pm.
5/18/2010 6:45 AM T 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Tues 6:45am 48º, N-NE minimal breeze, H=100%, DP 48º, AP 30.06". Heavy Fog w/O visibility, & under Dense Fog Advisory until 9am. Mon Temps = 68/55º, mostly cloudy but when sun out it was nice, H=68%, DP 56º, AP 30.08". Puddles & thick mud everywhere - air to wet, ground too saturated & not enough sun for water to evaporate or sink down (actually it seemed that the earth was pushing excess water to the top), but the weed are jumping up quicker than they can be destroyed & the grasses are growing quickly.
5/19/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Wed am 56º, sunny but can see clouds moving in, ES mild breezes, H=84%, DP 51º, AP 29.95". About 1/2 of the water on top of ground either evaporated or seeped back down.
5/20/2010 6:45 AM 1.56 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Thurs 6:45am 58º, ES & SE whipping/gusting winds from low teens to hi teens, sun breaking thru clouds & making a lovely balmy morning (as long as one doesn't walk out without muck boots), H=98%, DP 57º, 29.75". Gauge emptied = 1.56" (includes yesterday thru earlier this am). Last night the T-storms were violently fierce - sky was bright w/lightening hitting all around the Homestead, rain fell like it couldn't get here fast enough, winds whipping - now to wait for the ponds (old & newly formed w/these rains) to subside somewhat so can check the rest of the livestock & see if any more trees were damaged or killed. Warnings newly issued or ongoing: Flood Warning until 1pm, Flash Flood thru Fri. afternoon. More T-storms expected this afternoon thru tonight. Wed Temps = 64/52º, by 9am the sun quickly faded behind the clouds & rain took over, continuing throughout the day w/very few breaks. T-storms moved in during afternoon thru night. By 6pm had .39" in gauge. Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Watch for both Lawrence Cty (us in upper NW sector) & Dade Cty (less than 3 mi No. of us) from 7pm til Fri afternoon. Plus, for Dade, a Flood Advisory until 9pm & Flood Warning until 11am Thurs. A "great" night & couple of days in the making, esp. since the previous waters haven't subsided yet. Animals nervous - even the puppy (usually calm in a storm) is barking & running back & forth.
5/21/2010 6:00 AM 0.03 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Fri 6:00am 56º, mildish WS breezes, looks pretty cloudy but supposed t/b sunny today, H=99%, DP 59º, AP 29.89". Thurs Temps = 71/57º, H=76%, varying S winds gusting into hi teens, mixed clouds & sun (but more clouds), DP 60º, AP 29.78". A "funny" day - sometimes beautiful but then (mostly) ominous clouds & fascintating formations. Suddenly about 8:30pm a quick shower leaving another .03" in gauge. Guess forecasted day of T-storms jumped over us again - not complaining as too much of a good thing is just that - too much & farmers' plantings are drowning.
5/22/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Sat. am 67º, strong & gusting SE winds from mid-teens, H=80% DP 61º, 29.93". All Watches & Warnings lapsed. Temps t/b in hi 80ams & 60's pms for balance of week. This month have accum. 8.45" of rain! No Precip. until mid-week. Maybe fields will dry out enough so plantings can be tended to &, hopefully, saved or the Corn, etc. crops will be a loss. Who said farming/ranching is easy? Fri Temps = 75/54º, mostly cloudy w/varying W winds chilly & gusting from mid-teens, H=63%, DP 56º, AP 30.00". Winds blew some of above ground water off the land, some seeped down, but still mucky & muddy.

Thankfully there was a lot of drying out yesterday, bec. the "reprieve" we thought we had until Wed. or so has been amended to "chance of isolated T-storms fr. 9pm tonight thru 2am Monday. Sat. Temps = 87/55º, varying S gusting warm winds from mid-teens into mid-20's mph, H=62%, DP 69º, AP 29.87". Started out pretty sunny, but clouds continually thickened until it was a "fight" for control of the sky, with neither winning out.
5/24/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Mon 7am 70º, SE mild breezes, pretty sunny w/clouds in background, H=88%, DP 66º, AP 30.00". Sun. Temps = 87/69º, H=60ì%, DP 68º, AP 29.98". Varying S winds gusting from hi-teens into the mid/hi-20's. A good mix of sun & clouds. Everything's drying out quickly - what w/the strong/gusting winds added to the strong sun & hi temps. T-storms for tonight deleted from forecast.
5/25/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Tues am 66º, sunny, mild varying SE breezes, H=82, DP 66º, AP 29.99". More T-storms due this afternoon. Tues Temps = 86/65º, H=66%, DP 68º, AP 30.04", gusting winds from all over raning from mid-teens to 20mph+. Thunder sporadic from early afternoon & clouds/trees had that "storm-look". T-storms (no Lightening) swept in a little after 4pm & were gone within the hour. A hot, heavy day - thankfully we had the breezes otherwise working the fence-lines would have been absolutely unbearable.
6/7/2010 6:30 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Mon am 6:30am 64º. S-SE mild breezes, cloudy & bright but darkening quickly as T-storms moving closer, H=82%, DP 59º, AP 30.02". Can feel the underlying stillness as T-storms moving closer. Leaves on trees have that "stormy" look. Big question - are they going to jump over us again, when we need the rain? Sun. Temps = 84/64º. N-NE winds in mid-teens, mostly sunny w/some light white clouds, H=44º, DP 57º, AP 30.06". Light rains never materialized. Winds kept it on the cool side. Thunder could be heard as T-storms moved closer (& light drew darker) shortly before 8am, light rain about 8:15am & by the time the "storm" was over (about noon), we had .14". Seems everyone else had more rain than our gauge recorded. It was more like rain w/some Thunder than a T-storm. Sun out by 2pm but air cool (possibly due to moisture in it & fact that a lot of it was from East in some form).
6/9/2010 6:30 AM 0.34 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Wed 6:30am 72 16º. WS winds in low-mid teens w/some gusting, raining pretty steadily since 4am (w/some Thunder & Lightening), H=92%, DP 67º, AP 30.00". T-storms could be heard approaching by 11pm but didn't start until 11:30pm & cont'd sporadically overnight - sometimes w/extremely fierce winds. However, rains never super heavy. We need it - just a bad time as too many have their hay cut & waiting to bale (hopefully they haven't raked it yet).
6/10/2010 6:30 AM 0.14 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Thurs 6:30am 70%, hazy sun, S winds approaching double digits (think we are going to be very thankful for active breezes/winds today as air has that oppressive feeling already), H=93%, DP 68º, AP 29.92". A nice heavy Dew. Wed Temps = 84/38º, mixed sun/clouds (after rains stopped), H=76 %, DP 65º, AP 30.02. Winds from all over the place & reaching into mid-teens mph. Definitely looks, sounds & feels like rains imminent. Thurs Temps = 90/69º, H=65%, DP 69º, AP 29.91, gusty S winds (sometimes fr. SW) from 20mph; clouds w/several break-thru's of sun, but never for long as more often everything turned "stormy", but nothing fell from the sky - just false alarms.

Heavy rains (sounds like the shower's running) about 5:55 - looked like fog in the fields. Emptied gauge in heavy rain @ .74". Already run-offs flowing fast & large puddles forming. Flash Flood Watch extended to noon today. Sun. Temps = 91/72º, H=59%, DP 72º, AP 30.05", SW gusting winds to low 20mph (made it almost bearable as were completing re-tinning of barn door that winds took off) . About 12:30pm a sudden, quick shower that dried as it hit the ground = only a faint Trace. At 12noon a Flash Flood Watch was issued for several counties, including Dade & Lawrence, from 10pm thru Monday am. At 9pm a Severe Thunderstorm Watch including Dade Cty (3 mi N of us) until 3am.

Mon Temps = 87/66º, H=73º, DP 66º, AP 29.97", mostly cloudy but bright & WS winds low to mid teens. Heavy morning rains over by 10am & just some short spurts until 3:30pm, when gauge had additional .08". Wed Temps = 89/57º, SE & SW breezes very gentle (until just before & thru T-storm), H=57%, DP 70º, AP 30.10". At 3:30pm it was still sunny, hot & heavily humid. By 4pm the "world" clouded over & Thunder could be heard in the distance as strong, violently gusting & whipping S & SW winds came up. A little after 4pm the Nat'l. Change of T-storms today & it feels like it. In spite of the winds, a strange stillness in the air. Howling winds from early am hours. If any Dew, winds blew it off everything. Fri Temps = 91/72º, sunny, strong & gusting SW & S winds from 20mph, H=57%, DP 72º, AP 30.01".

The heavy driving (fr. the N) rains began about 4:45pm but w/o Thunder & very little Lightening. Had some sun out during the heaviest of the rains which slowed considerably by 5:10 & was over by 5:20 - then Thunder in the distance. Mon Temps = 93/74, SW/S winds from mid to hi teens, H=58%, DP 74º, AP 30.04". Mostly a blazing hot sun, with some periods of threatening cloud-over. If this is 2010's Summer, we're all in trouble - too hot, too humid, too early, but at least Spring calving season is over now to get the hay in.

About 3:30 pm sky started to turn & could hear Thunder approaching & until about 6pm a lot of Thunder & Lightening, then finally a little moisture fell - much less than to both our North & South. About 6pm Temps dropped fr. 95 to mid-70's & the winds cooled as started having a N & NE source. Didn't get nearly as much precip. as needed, but every drop helps.

Threatened rain several times but nothing until about 5:20 when drops started to fall - far apart & "singles" - which cont'd for about 20 minutes. The gauge only had a Trace of moisture. If this continues we will be in a bad drought. Already the winds are whipping up the dust, grasses drying out & cattle getting Pinkeye. This is a result of the dryness, but the intensity may be due to the spraying done on the genetically modified corn - killing & repelling flying insects which then move over to the cattle & settle on their heads - mainly their eyes.
7/7/2010 7:00 AM 0.66 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Wed am 7am 70º, light SE breezes, heavy Dew, had a nice mix of clouds/sun earlier but skies darkening quickly as takes over from sun, H=97%, DP 69º, AP 30.01". By the time the 2 waves of rains had ended (by 10:30) we had .09". After another short wave there was nothing until about 3:20 when the skies opened & the downpour began in earnest ending about 5pm, then sun made its appearance. Just North of us had +1.0", yet just South had virtually nothing - one could say these rains are very scattered.

Small puddles, no run-off as ground taking up water as fast as it fall. Rains coming in waves, but not getting nearly 1/2 of what we need - &, unfortunately just when people of the land are trying to cut hay & bring in crops. Ground is soggy - most of water has been absorbed by the parched earth. Flash Flood Watch expires @ 7am. More T-storms forecasted for later today. Thurs Temps = 82/71º, breezes from S, SE, W, NW but never higher than in the low teens mph, H=96%, DP 72º, AP 30.09", the sun sporadically appeared among the clouds. Rains returned about 8 w/a vengeance & cont'd until shortly after 11am (.98") - blinding downpours, flooded drainage ditches, wet weather creeks, run-offs, fields, etc. By 1pm waters had soaked into ground & only puddles, small amts in run-offs & in fields remained above ground & weeds, especially noxious ones, grew like crazy. Emptied gauge about 2pm a looking like another session moving in.

Unfortunately, spilled some of water in gauge when transferring it for measurement - using actual final measurement. More T-storms forecasted for this afternoon & overpm. Under Flood Warning until later this afternoon & Flash Flood Watch fr. 1pm today thru Tues. afternoon. Place looks like a mess due to the winds over pm. Sun. About 10:15am a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 4pm was issued by the Nat'l Weather Service & @ 3.38pm extended to 11pm. 1st wave of rain moved in @ 12:58pm @ a nice, rather heavy rate - w/o warning unless you count several periods of increasing winds & clouds - moved in for about 15 min = .02". Nasty looking Storm clouds w/stronger winds began about 6pm & Thunder @ 7.28pm. Actual T-storms hit about 9:30pm & contd thru night. This was some scary storm - esp. as Tornado Watches/Warnings for after dark + noise of Thunder & winds obscured any other sounds. Lightening fierce.
7/13/2010 6:45 AM 0.09 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Tues 6:45am 70º, mild S breezes, mostly cloudy but bright, H=95%, DP 69º, AP 29.83". Few puddles as ground is quickly absorbing whatever rains fell around here as was so dry before Sunday. A very comfortable a.m. - there is air to breathe. Not a lot of Precip for the amt. & severity of the T & L. Now for the clean-up & bracing ourselves to work w/the other group of Pink-I infected cattle tonight. Mon Temps = 85/72º, H=79%, DP 74º, AP 29.80". Sunny w/W & WS winds in low-mid teens during day, but about 7:30 booming Thunder & Lightening started to move closer. As we were, again, working w/the cattle, this made them extremely nervous - much worse than rain - esp. since these have Pink-I (a very bad year for it). Rains held off until 9:20pm, just as we finished working w/them, & they were "ripe". Clean-up from overnight storms took a few hours (& we only got to the homestead) - i.e. moving hay feeders that had been picked up by the winds & moved 25-50 ft., etc.
7/14/2010 6:45 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Wed 6:45am 78º, SW mild breezes, hazy sun, a nice Dew, H=98%, DP 78º, AP 29.97". Under Heat Advisory from Noon today thru 7pm Thurs. Tues Temps = 91/67º, partly to mostly cloudy, S & SW mild breezes, H=72%, DP 76º, AP 29.88". It was nice to finish working w/our cattle w/o the "booming cannons" & "super fireworks" going off - they were so much calmer & more agreeable, even if there was "no" oxygen for breathing.

Fri Temps = 93/71º, mostly sunny w/nice white clouds. Under Heat Advisory until 7pm. At 4:45pm the sky started getting dark w/storm-like clouds & violently gusting winds accompanied by a sudden drop of 8º. At 5:24, just as the forecaster was saying the storms would be well East of us Thunder & driving rain began, lasting about an hour & then becoming sporadic until finally ending by 8pm. A lovely sunset w/interesting storm clouds to the West.
7/18/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Sun. 7am 76º, heavy Dew, S mild breezes, H=83%. A lot of clouds, but sun breaking thru. Under Heat Advisory until 8pm Mon. Working cattle again for Pink Eye - with this heat/humidity can only work small groups. No signs of rain from. Sat. Temps = 93/69º, blazing sun w/no noticeable breezes, humidity was killing. Definitely not a time to have to work cattle - but, Pink Eye knows no weather.

Excessive Heat Warning extended until Friday @ 8pm. Tues Temps = 93/75º another day just like Mon., but areas around here actually got some water from the skies - just a drop, but better than nothing. Getting tired of these heat indicies going over 100. Some very light rains fell within a few miles of us - in the 100th's of an inch.
7/22/2010 6:45 AM T 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Thurs 6:45am 75º, SW mild breezes, hazy sun, AP extremely heavy. A nice Dew. Wed Temps = 92/75º, hot, humid & SW breezes. Still in the "dog days of summer". Just a few drops fell in the evening - barely enough to make a Trace.

Getting tired of DP being in the mid-70º's. Again, T-storms forecasted for later today - maybe it will be real as even ponds drying out. Fri Temps = 93/74º, sunny, humid, SW winds. Another oppressive day.
7/25/2010 7:00 AM 0.41 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Sun. 6:20am 68º; H, AP & DP way down (we can breathe), NE minimal air movement. More T-storms for later today. Some small puddles, but parched ground & grasses (weeds included, unfortunately) quickly soaking up the water. Fog moving in just as sun trying to break thru clouds. Sat. Temps = 93/70º, sunny & oppressively hot but for the strong SW winds giving us some air. A nice strong rain started about 9:50pm preceded by a sudden drop in Temp, followed by explosive Thunder @ 10:10 & sharp lightening about 10 min. later. These T-storms cont'd thru the night into early Sun. am.
7/26/2010 6:45 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Mon 6:30am hazy sun w/a lot of clouds, 72º, Humid, what little air movement is from the East. T-storms again forecasted for this afternoon & night. Heavy Dew. All signs of the Sat into Sun. am rains gone - not a puddle in sight.. Sun. Temps = 88/69º, a hot sun but strong winds after the heavy, wet rolling Fog lifted. Hi Humidity & AP returned as the afternoon progressed & the forecasted T-storms went elsewhere. Amazing how a few degrees in Temp can make all the difference in comfort.
7/27/2010 7:00 AM 0.03 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Tues 7am 72º, mostly cloudy but brightness of sun is evident, S mild air movement, Humid. T-storms due later today - but where? Mon Temps = 91/72º, sun diffused most of day by white & gray fluffy clouds. About 2pm rains moved in S of us (heavy) but nothing here until about 6pm when Thunder & Lightening started & cont'd. until about 9 when light rain moved in. Just a few spits prior to that - more like heavy Humidity.
7/28/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Wed 7am 72º, hazy sun thru lots of clouds, minimal SW air movement, comfortable right now but can feel the pressure & humidity building. A heavy Dew this am. Maybe the states to the north will send some our way before we're in a real deep drought. Thurs Temps = 92/73º, another hot, humid day burning the grasses as the morning Dews aren't enough to support them. Very light (in the hundredths of an inch) about 5-7 mi. SE of us.
7/31/2010 8:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Sat. 8am 84º but feels much warmer due to Humidity & AP, WS mild breeze. Looks like another obnoxious day. Fri Temps = 94/69º, strong sun, hot & Humid. Some light rain to N & SE of us, but nothing here. Looks like we are at the beginning of a drought.
8/1/2010 7:45 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Sun. 7:45am 75º, SE virtually nil air movement, mostly cloudy, muggy w/heavy Dew. Sat. Temps = 94/73º, diffused sun due to white cloud cover, extremely Humid w/DP in hi 70's & AP making breathing hard, E breezes as day progressed made it almost livable.
8/2/2010 6:45 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Mon 6:45am 77º (feels like 81º), cloudy, very Humid, SE nice cooling breezes SE nice cooling breezes w/mph in the low teens (unfortunately changing over to S) & a nice Dew. A Special Weather Statement has been issued that due to the combination of hot Temps + hi Humidity, heat indices will range from 100-109º on an afternoon basis thru the wk. Also, the Heat Advisory has been extended to Wed @ 8pm. Sun. Temps = 93/72º, hot. humid, very light SE breezes & mostly diffused sun - making the day mostly livable. But still too hot for the comfort & well-being of the cattle & other wildlife. This afternoon, the Natl Weather Service issued a Heat Advisory from 11am Mon the 9pm Tues.
8/3/2010 6:45 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Tues 6:45am 78º, mild @ breezes, hazy sun, very little Dew. Mon Temps = 104/75º, SE nice breezes (w/the excessive Temps, kept us from "passing out") , enough clouds to keep sun from hitting full force. Well, the Temps did it - 104º here about 2pm (in a shaded area) & forget about the THI it was ridiculous. Greenery isn't so green anymore & ponds, rivers, etc. are down - w/some ponds being dry. Doesn't bode well when you think of Drought.
8/4/2010 6:45 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Wed 6:45am 75º, SW mild breezes, no Dew, sunny. Possibility of T-storms tomorrow. Tues Temps = 105/76º (THI = 115º), strong sun, nice S breezes somewhat mitigating the heat/humidity combo. Fast drying out of ground & ponds/creeks/etc. continues.
8/5/2010 6:45 AM 0.54 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Thurs 6:45am 72º, EN gusty winds in low teens, T-storming, H & AP hi. Lightening started about 4:30, strong Thunder 5:20 & med-heavy rains @ 6am - finally. Emptied gauge @ .54", but still raining. Wed Temps = 102/74º, strong sun w/light breezes - but enough to slightly mitigate the hi heat/Humidity/AP.
8/6/2010 7:00 AM 0.14 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Fri 7am 71º, hazy sun, very mild EN breeze, Muggy w/a heavy Dew & some ground Mist. Very little puddling as ground gobbled up what precip. fell yesterday. Special Weather Statement that Heat Indices like to exceed 100º each afternoon starting Sun & to cont, thru next wk - back to the "Hot Box". Thurs Temps = 83/72º, a pretty nice day w/decent breezes, but could feel Humidity rising. Wonderful not to see any #'s w/a "9" or more in it. Another .14" of rain fell bet. 7am-3pm - as droplets fell sporadically during the day. Total rain = .68". More Precip. to the N than S of us.
8/7/2010 7:30 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Sat. 7:30am 74º, sunny w/clouds in background, Humid, SE gusting winds from low to hi teens & a nice heavy Dew. Fri Temps = 90/71º, sunny, Humid w/nice breezes mostly from ES. Interesting skies as pale white clouds blended into light blue sky.
8/8/2010 7:30 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Sun. 7:30am 76º, Dewy, Humid, S breezes near double digits. Heat Advisory starts @ noon today thru Wed 10pm. Sat. Temps = 92/69º, another hot Humid but nice varying S winds. Many times thought it would rain as clouds took over, but no such luck - all to the far S & N of us.
8/9/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Mon 7am 83º, hazy sun, Humidity way up there, light SW winds. Sun. Temps = 97/74º, nil to mild S varying breeze, blazing hot sun, hi Humidity, no breathable air. What one could call "passing out" weather as Heat Indices over 100º, not the kind of day to have to work cattle - but Pink Eye doesn't care about the Temps.
8/10/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Tues 7am 84º (thought I live in MO, not Florida), hazy sun, muggy, barely discernable Dew, mild SE breeze. Excessive Heat Warning extended until Thurs 9pm. Mon Temps = 96/78º, THI = 100º, strong sun w/beautiful white fluffy clouds, humid & mild SW breezes.
8/11/2010 6:30 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Wed 6:30am 80º, virtual no S air movement, very light Dew hazy sun & muggy. Excessive Heat Warning extended until Fri @9pm. Tues Temps = 99/75º, THI 105º, strong sun mitigated somewhat by nice S & SW breezes (but not enough to make being outside livable), muggy.
8/12/2010 6:30 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Thurs 6:30am 77º, "nice" out w/hazy sun but still somewhat muggy, SW virtually nil breeze. Thankfully, the Excessive Heat Warning ends tom. night & we should get some relief by the end of the weekend. Wed Temps = 100/76º, THI 104º, another hot, extremely muggy/humid day, but w/mild SW breezes bringing some air.
8/13/2010 6:30 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Fri 6:30am 78º but feels like low-mid 80's, S mild breezes, very humid & muggy, no Dew to speak of, hazy sun due to clouds. Excessive Heat Warning extended until 9pm Sat. Thurs Temps = 102/76º, THI 103º, strong sun w/little cloud cover except for short periods where clouds overtook sun, S-SW breezes. If we don't get projected rains Sat-Sun, we're in deep trouble. Just after 2pm, about 20 mi East of us, cold strong rain squalls for about 15 minutes, but nothing here.
8/14/2010 7:45 AM 0.30 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Sat. 7:45am 74º, hazy sun, S & SE breezes in mid-teens, humidity way down, air fresh. About 2am Rains & cooler Temps/Humidity moved in. Gauge emptied @ .30", ground already soaked up what fell & weeds sprouting profusely & grasses much greener than yesterday. What a beautiful morning. Excessive Heat Warning still in effect until tonight. Fri Temps = 102/76º, THI = 105º, blazing sun w/little minimal clouds, S & SW mild breezes. Rains forecasted for tonight - hopefully it will come to pass.
8/15/2010 8:00 AM 1.02 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Sun. 8am 75º, SW air movement, totally overcast. Emptied gauge @ 1.02" & droplets still falling. No real puddling as ground soaking it up almost as fast as it falls. Rains started about 2am & severe T-storms moved in about 2:30 - w/several lightening hits that knocked out electric for moments @ a time. Thunder was booming to say the least. More rains expected today-tonight. Sat. Temps = 100/70º, THI 102º, blazing sun offset somewhat by strong S-SW winds & humidity falling somewhat. No further Precip. than that which fell in the early am hours.
8/16/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Mon 7am 67º, sunny, virtually no NE air movement, a very heavy Dew & Humidity way down. Never had any more forecasted Precip. & only puddles visible are those in depressions in the roads. Sun. Temps = 90/70º (a much more comfortable day), sunny w/a few periods of cloud-over as if rains coming in - but nothing, nice NE winds & much lower Humidity.
8/17/2010 6:45 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Tues 6:45am 71º, SE minimal air movement, sun trying to break thru clouds, light Dew & very comfortable. Mon Temps = 89/63º, sunny, NE nice winds. It's nice to have seasonal weather w/Humidity down somewhat especially since Fall Calving Season started here today (14 days early for both AI's & pasture service dams) - much easier on dams & newborns.
8/18/2010 6:45 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Wed 6:45am 70º, no sign of sun for the clouds, virtually no SE air movement, a nice Dew & comfortable. Tues Temps = 82/67º, light SE breezes, Humidity rising again & rains sometimes threatening - but nada. After the brief period of sun in the morning the balance of the day was totally overcast, but bright & rather muggy.
8/19/2010 6:30 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Thurs 6:30am 65º, no air movement, ground Fog & a nice Dew. Humidity low enough so a very pleasant am. Wed Temps = 89/68º, Humidity hi as was DP. Sun strong w/a bright blue sky & bright fluffy, white clouds.
8/20/2010 6:30 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Fri 6:30am 79º (feels like mid-80's), brightness but no sun thru clouds, S winds in low teens. Nice Dew & light scattered ground Mist. Under Heat Advisory from 1pm thru this evening. T-storms expected to move in later today. Thurs Temps = 98/64º, strong sun w/nice white clouds & mild breezes. Humidity, AP & DP rose steadily thru day. Ground holding last rainwater & not drying out fast - can easily pull weeds by hand, which can't do when hot as ground dries out too fast.
8/21/2010 8:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Sat. 8am 81º but feels warmer, SW & WS breezes approaching the teens, sunny, no Dew or rains last night or this am. Fri Temps = 102/77º (THI = 105º), with S-SW breezes. Mostly diffused sun during am & early afternoon due to clouds & threatening T-storms, than about 2pm sun appeared in full force & the strong S-SW winds had several "shear force" gusts. Afternoon T-storms blew over area & Temps cont'd. their upward climb.
8/22/2010 7:30 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Sun. 7:30am 74º & feels nice & cool, EN mild breezes, a very nice Dew (dripping from the roofs) & a hazy sun w/the palest of blue skies. Sat. Temps = 95/73º (THI 100º), blazing sun but nice NE breezes. Grasses burning up - need more than Dew.
8/23/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Mon 7am 71º, hazy sun, SE breezes approaching double digits, minimal Dew. No Precip. in immediate forecast. Sun. Temps = 95/71º, THI 100º, N & NE winds in mid-teens - which kept it from being oppressive. Even the weeds are starting to wilt, Sunflowers are small & drooping - not good.
8/25/2010 6:45 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Wed 6:30am a cloudy 61º w/very mild N breezes & no Dew. A brisk, fresh day. Tues Temps = 90/63º, sunny, breezy & comfortable tho warm. About 3:45pm it suddenly clouded over & N-NE winds became very strong & gusty - you could "feel/sense" rain in the air (or it was wishful thinking), but no Precip. & this cont'd. thru the evening.
8/26/2010 6:30 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Thurs 6:30am 53º, a nice Dew - a crisp, clear morning w/no air movement, just a nice late Aug. early morning stillness. Wed Temps = 83/60º, NE strong winds, sunny & quite comfortable. At least with the cooler temps the grasses aren't drying out as fast - they're too dry as it is..
8/27/2010 6:30 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Fri 6:30am 58º, mixed sun/clouds, little SE air movement, minimal Dew. A little chilly, but the air sure is fresh & crisp. Thurs Temps = 87/52º, sunny w/light breezes. Still no signs of that badly needed rain.
8/28/2010 7:15 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Sat. 7:15am 62º, very sunny, SE cool breezes approaching double digits, Dew virtually non-existent. Fri Temps = 91/56º, another sunny, breezy, dry day. But, the calves keep coming & they are all early.
8/29/2010 8:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Sun. 8am 75º, sunny, very low Humidity & SE breezes (a little gusty) approaching double digits. No Dew. Sat. Temps = 95/59º, hot, Humidity way down, sunny w/light S & SE breezes.
8/30/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Mon 6:15am 72º, mostly cloudy, SE breezes & no Dew. Sun. Temps = 95/73º, very sunny & strong gusting ES winds. In latter afternoon thick white clouds moved in - too late to stop the drying out of the grasses. Hopefully this mini-drought will end quickly while some of the greenery is still salvageable..
8/31/2010 6:20 AM 0.04 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Tues 6:20am 75º, cloudy, SE winds in low teens, humid. Scattered T-storms forecasted for later today. Mon Temps = 97/70º, strong gusting SE winds & Humid. Thick white puffy clouds periodically covered the sun as it became hotter & AP rose. It suddenly started to pour @ 2:40pm (coming in from the SW) & slowed after 7 min., stopping by 2:55 w/the gauge reading .04". Within 1/2 hour everything was dry again, the sun was out & it was hot, humid & clammy w/"saving" SE winds..
9/1/2010 6:25 AM T 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Wed 6:25am 72º, E winds in low teens. RAIN started a minute ago - after a night (starting 5pm Tues) of sporadic Thunder & Lightening). Tues Temps = 98/74º (THI 103º), ES gusty winds & tho a lot of clouding the sun prevailed most of the time. Just about 5pm the sky started to thickly cloud over & Thunder could be heard from the East where Rains were falling as they moved EN. No rain - it stopped 1/4 mi S (as the Crow flies) of us.
9/2/2010 6:20 AM 3.45 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 The "Drought" is broken, by 4:20pm gauge meas. 2.82" & still coming down. Thurs 6:20am 70º, SE breezes approaching double digits, mostly thick clouds but can see hints of sunrise to the East, humid. Ground sopped up all that water - only puddles in depressions, ponds, etc. still down & no run-off in waterways or wet weather creeks. More storms forecasted for later this am thru day & night. Flood Warning extended until 11am today & Flash Flood Watch issued from 1pm today thru Fri. am. Wed Temps = 83/68º, rains cont'd thru most of day (very short & few breaks in Precip), ending by 7pm. Both a Flash Flood Warning & Flood Warning was issued this afternoon until 8pm tonight.
9/3/2010 6:20 AM 0.55 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Fri 6:20am 57º, NW breezes near double digits, looks like w/b a sunny day as clouds moving out, Humidity/AP/DP down. Thurs Temps = 93/64º, hot, Humid & sunny w/gusty SE winds. In late afternoon clouds started taking over, Thunder could be heard from West as T-storms moved in & winds changed to varying North. Just moments after 6pm sporadic squalls moved in w/increasing vicious whipping winds - a lot of Thunder, not so much Lightening (but enough before 10pm to knock out electric for moments at a time). Temps fell to 64º as Storms moved in. Rains were mostly horizontal - not quite sure .55" in gauge is accurate as a lot of puddling, tho dry weather creeks & run-offs don't have accumulation (ground still soaking up the water almost as quickly as it fell). Grasses already much greener since Wed's rains.
9/4/2010 7:15 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Sat. 7:15am 51º, light NE breezes, sunny & a great Dew w/low Humidity/AP. Fri Temps = 78/56º, sunny, NW breezes, very livable. Ground soaked up almost all puddles & grasses regained a lot of their color - weeds abounding. Funny what a "little" rain can do.
9/5/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Sun. 7am 57º, SE mild breezes, no Dew, very nice & breathable. Sat. Temps = 86/50º, sunny, light NE to ES breezes. Spent most of day cleaning up trees debris (& having to cut down some badly damaged huge Hedge Trees that were over 75 yrs old) from the winds that the Storms earlier in the week caused. Not good!
9/6/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Mon 7am 64º, sunny, gusty S winds in low-mid teens, low Humidity/AP/DP. Sun. Temps = 87/53º, sunny, S winds gusting into 20mph range & a very nice day - except that were finishing cutting the limbs/branches & finishing pulling trees @ the East End that had been destroyed by the Storms.
9/7/2010 6:20 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Tues 6:20am clouds moved in but can see sunrise to the East, mild N breezes, Humidity/AP up & no Dew. All in all, it was a beautiful Labor Day week-end. Mon Temps = 91/63º, sunny w/ferocious varying winds. The wind gusts were strong enough to knock a person off their feet & you never knew what direction they were coming from - just that the chances they were from the East were the least. Got the boundary fence back up, tight & the electric working. Hopefully the storms coming in Tuesday won't do more damage.
9/8/2010 6:15 AM T 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Wed 6:15am 64º, a very dark & cloudy am, very mild ES breeze & very light Dew. Scattered rains forecasted to start early afternoon. Flash Flood Watch from tonight thru Thurs pm. Tues Temps = 81/65º, sunny w/a lot of clouds, sporadic spurts of water falling - from countable droplets to wetting the walkways = no more than a Trace.
9/9/2010 7:00 AM 1.12 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Thurs 6:30am 66º, raining - constant & varying in intensity but not light, ES gusting winds mph from hi teens to mid-30's. As we are forecasted to get up to a poss. 8", would gladly lend the area around Boulder, CO some/most of it - would put out some/most of the fires & keep us from being inundated & the "floods" from happening here. Mature cattle aren't happy but their calves are frolicing in the waters. Wed Temps = 80/64º, layers of white, "dirty" white & gray clouds overtook the sun all day, sporadic light spates of Precip. By 10pm had .36" as heavier rains started by 8pm - but didn't empty gauge & will add into tom. am's report. Finally heard from family in hills of Boulder, CO -1 had been evacuated (she's up in the mtns on an old mine) & they are all waiting for the evacuation order for their area.
9/10/2010 6:30 AM 0.57 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Fri 6:30am 72º, SE mild breeze, very heavy Dew. Dense Fog Advisory until 9am. Gauge emptied @ .57 fr. Yest. am thru 6pm. Giving a total of 1.69" for the 2 days. Almost all water has been absorbed by the ground - very little to no flooding, just depressions have water. Thurs Temps = 72/66º, never saw the sun for the clouds, whipping & gusty winds while it was raining (mph @low-mid teens). Rains ended about 2pm, then just extremely light mist/drizzle fell until shortly before I read the gauge @ 6pm.
9/11/2010 7:00 AM 0.22 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Sat. 7am 66º, thick cloud cover, misty, WN very light breeze & muggy. Chance of T-storms/showers later today. Emptied gauge w/.22" from this am's downpour. Ground starting to become saturated. What does one expect when we're weaning today. Fri Temps = 93/70º, sunny w/nice light breezes. This afternoon, @ 3pm, a Flash Flood Watch was issued thru 10am Sat due to heavy T-storms due tonight.
9/12/2010 8:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Sun. 8am 63º, sunny, a very nice Dew, S mild winds but seem to be gusty upwards. Ground still soft & muddy. Sat. Temps = 82/64º, NE winds, sunny, warm & comfortable after am misty drizzle overcome by sun. Boy was it muddy & slippery working those calves.
9/13/2010 6:25 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Mon 6:25am 59º, can see sunrise to E, mild S breeze, no clouds & very low Humidity/AP, light Dew. Sun. Temps = 85/52º. Sunny, SE breezes, low Humidity/AP. A lovely day, in spite of mud.
9/14/2010 6:20 AM 0.04 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Tues 6:15am 65º, gentle EN-ES breezes, light rains began about 3:30am & now Thunder can be heard as it comes closer. As was reading gauge (= .04") Lightening started. T-storms this am & tomorrow. Mon Temps = 82/55º, sunny, light mixed breezes, Humidity low in the am but slowly rising thru day. Ground drying out nicely (if you ignore the ruts) & gasses coming back (unfortunately, the weeds, too). But that's life.
9/15/2010 6:30 AM 0.63 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Wed 6:30am 64º, mostly cloudy but can see the sunrise thru the clouds, SE breezes, a very heavy Dew (started @ sundown yesterday) & getting more Humid. More T-storms poss. tonight. Tues Temps = 80/64º, T-storms over by 10am & mist cleared out by sun & varying gusty winds - ground still pretty saturated by last week's rains & run-off/drainage ditches holding water. Emptied gauge @ .67" (including yesterday's am report). Balance of day sunny, warm & breezy.
9/16/2010 6:20 AM 0.67 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Thurs 6:20am 65º, cloudy, virtually no S breeze, Humidity/AP down. Flood Warning & Flash Flood Warnings extended to 10am. Wed Temps = 84/64º, sun didn't "rule the skies" until after the noon hour & Thunder started about 11am to the West, breezes varying, cool & muggy. Storms jumped over us on their way NE about 12:30pm & the sun took over & air warmed up, breezes died down. A few minutes after 3pm, sky clouded over & darkened. 3:15 a strong NE winds came up & temps. dropped & Thundering began again. Seems T-storms to far N of us came "down S", again jumped E of us & the sun re-appeared, but a lot more twigs are off the trees & light things have moved - some quite a distance (debris clean-up resumes). Weather Service issued Flash Flood Watch @ 7pm effective until 7am Thurs & @ 8:39pm a Severe T-storm Warning until 3am. The Thunder could be heard from 8pm as it approached from the NW, dropping down in a SE direction. Lightening showed about 9:50 & the violent winds (over 60mph) @ 10pm followed in minutes by the horizontal rains.
9/17/2010 6:25 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Fri 6:25am 59º, mixed sun/clouds, SE mild breezes, Dew so heavy one would think we had rain but not even a trace in gauge. A little on the cool/crisp side - but beautiful. Thurs Temps = 78/62º, sunny, light breezes, everything muddy w/some water in drainage ditches & puddles abound.
9/18/2010 6:45 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Sat. 6:45am 66º, mostly cloudy, S breezes in hi single digits, a heavy Dew, light ground mist, Humidity/AP/DP in mid-70's. Fri Temps = 89/58º, sunny, light SE breezes, H/AP/DP hi, little oxygen in the air - well, it is still Summer. Ground drying out, but weeds still rather easy to pull out, roots & all.
9/19/2010 7:15 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Sun. 7:15am 69º, mild S breeze, hazy sun, a nice heavy Dew & light ground mist/fog. Humidity/AP/DP down a little - maybe today will be more liveable. Sat. Temps = 89/65º, blazing hot sun, hazy, Humid, AP & DP way up in mid-70's. Guess it is still Summer - but it didn't have to remind us about the worst heat/humidity of Summer. Drying everything out real fast.
9/20/2010 6:20 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Mon 6:20am 68º, SE light breezes, heavy Dew, cloudy but can see sunrise to East. A comfortable am. Sun. Temps = 89/68º, sunny w/gentle to almost no Breezes, heat/Humidity/AP/DP oppressive. Tho on the way out, Summer isn't giving it up.
9/21/2010 6:15 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Tues 6:15am 68º, S breezes near 10mph, clouds predominate w/a hint of pink, no real Dew just a slight dampness. Mon Temps = 91/67º, typical hot/Humid Summer weather w/light winds. It seems. Summer doesn't want to leave.
9/22/2010 6:15 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Wed 6:15am 70º, cloudy, SW breezes in hi single digits, Humid. No Dew, but air on dampish side. Tues Temps = 91/58º. What a "funny" day - 1st we had the sun, about 12:20pm suddenly storm-like clouds took over & the warm gusting, strong, swirling winds (fr. all directions - even WN & EN) took over. But no rains. Then, about 4:30 the sun returned.
