Observation Date Observation Time Precipitation Snowfall Snowfall SWE Snow Depth Snow SWE Notes
10/1/2009 5:30 PM 0.24 M M M M October 2009 starts our rather dark and damp and breezy as 2009 rain fall totals stay ahead of 2008's total by about 3 1/2 inches to date....September 2009 had almost 3x's the rain fall accumulation as September 2008 along with more sunshine hours as well. For today it was fall like conditions with rain starting in the morning and pretty much continuing without a break most of the day....Most of the rain being light drizzle to almost mist with a few times coming down a bit harder....Still it all added up to a significant total to start the month out. It did take several hours from the first rain drops to accumulate .01 inches. As of now the sky is getting much lighter off to the west as the last drops dry up telling me we are in for a break at least for the time being. Temps today were rather mild and moderate as far as range of highs to lows go...High being 53.8 and low 50.6 degrees. Currently it's 53.1 degrees out under a light mist and thin overcast skies with average temp for the day so far of 52.3 degrees. Winds were breezy to blutery and mostly from the SE with high gust of 22.4 mph occuring just before eight this morning with high one minute average wind speed of 17.9 mph happening at 8:20 AM. High gust during last hour was 11.4 mph as winds ease slightly and current ten minute average wind speed of 8.7 mph is comming out of the ESE. Average wind speed for the day so far is 9.2 mph. Barometer stayed pretty steady from yesterday's update until about 3:30 AM when it started to ease downward which it still is....Perhaps falling just slightly faster as of late. Current pressure is 30.175 or 1021.8mb. Forecasts call for more of this until the weekend with party to mostly sunny skies predicted now...However we're now entering the time of year when longer range forecasts become less and less reliable.
10/2/2009 5:30 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M No rain today as skies were broken clouds to partly sunny with this site getting over 5 hours of sunshine for the day. Temps were rather moderate and mild again with low 51.0 and high 56.3. Currently it's 54.2 degrees under partly sunny skies with an average temp so far for the day of 53.1 degrees. Winds were breezy overnight and throughout the morning wiht them easing gradually through the afternoon hours. High gust was 23.5 mph with high one minute average wind speed of 18.4 mph...Both occuring about 7;15 AM. High gust during last hour was 7.1 mph with current ten minute average wind speed of 4.1 mph from the WSW....Westerly being the prevailing winds for most of the last 24 hours. Average wind speed so far for the day is 9.6 mph. Barometer eased down and then back up and now back down again with total range over the last 24 hours of about 3mb. Current pressure is 30.090 or 1019.0mb. Forecasts call for a slight chance of showers overnight with clearing througout the rest of the weekend and now predicted to stay that way well into next week.
10/3/2009 5:30 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M No rain today as skies were mostly clear and sunny most of the last 24 hours....A few clouds sliding through around the noon hours and some light haze since then. There was also some light fog during the very early morning hours as temps got very chilly over night. So far for the day we've got over 9 1/2 hours of sunshine for the day taking our monthly total to close to 16 hours so far. Overnight low temp was 41.2 degrees and daytime high got up to 55.7. Currently it's 55.0 degrees under partly sunny skies with some clouds to the west. Average temp for the day so far is a rather cool 46.7 degrees. Winds last evening eased to very light and calm....Then gradually freshening just before midnight....Winds continued to pick up becoming breezy during the early and mid morning hours from the NE and then switching directions and becoming quite blustery just before the noon hour. High gust for the day was 26.5 mph occuring about 1:30 AM with high one minute average wind speed of 21.1 mph happening just a couple minutes later. High gust during last hour was 24.5 mph with current ten minute average wind speed of 13.6 mph from the NW. Average wind speed is 11.1 mph so far. Barometer has continued to trend downward over the last 24 hours plus...Easing down some...Then falling faster....Followed by a steady state...And now falling again since about 10:00 AM. Current pressure is 29.964 or 1014.7 as barometer recently has been moving quite a bit more. Forecasts call for clear and cool temps especially overnight for the next 5-7 days with breezy winds gradually easing through next week as day time temps warm some as well....
10/4/2009 5:30 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M No rain today as there was hardly a cloud in the sky with this site getting over 10 1/2 hours of sunshine for the day. Temps were very warm compared to lately with high a balmy 67.7 degrees and low 46.9 degrees with range over 20 degrees. Currently it's 57.2 degrees out under clear skies right about sunset. Average temp so far for the day is a comfortable 57.3 degrees. Winds were quite breezy to downright windy as winds freshened through the overnight and early morning hours peaking about 11:00 AM with a high gust of 41.6 mph and high one minute average wind speed of 34.3 mph. Wind direction was mostly from the North or NNE which is an atypical direction especially for a windy day....Direction switching to the NW and winds subsequently easing about 4:45 PM. High gust during last hour was 14.3 mph with current ten minute average wind speed of 8.2 mph from the NW....Ten minute average wind speed peaking before noon at over 27 mph. Average wind speed for the day is 13.9 mph. With all the barometer really didn't do much....Trended down slightly for about 12 hours.....Then upwards for about 8 hours and now trending down and slightly back up. Total barometric pressure range was less than 2mb for the last 24 hours plus with current pressure of 29.958 or 1014.5mb. Forecasts call for clear weather for the next 7 days plus with breezy conditions overnight and then winds easing even more with warm temps gradually cooling to more normal ranges.
10/5/2009 5:30 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M No rain again today although this afternoon some thin high clouds moved in....Not thick enough to keep this site from getting almost 10 3/4 hours of sunshine for the day. Temps were warm again but slightly cooler than yesterday as winds were mostly from the west. High was 57.6 and low 42.4. Currently it's 52.3 degrees under partly cloudy skies right around sunset. Average temp for the day so far is 52.6. Winds were lighter but not 'light' until later on in the day. High gust was 27.0 mph occuring early in the morning with high one minute average wind speed of 23.0 mph happening about an hour after high gust. High gust during last hour was 9.2 mph with current ten minute average wind speed of just 3.7 mph as winds ease around sunset. Average wind speed for the day so far is 7.9 mph. Barometer rose most of the day topping out and flattening out a few hours ago. Current pressure is 30.162 or 1021.4mb. Forecasts call for basically clear for the rest of the week save a small chance of drizzle tomorrow night.....Wednesday day and night are supposed to be breezy to windy again with temps gradually cooling down as well.
10/6/2009 5:30 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M No rain today although a layer of clouds moved in right around mid day keeping our sunshine total to 4 1/4 hours for the day. Temps were cooler and winds were light with clearing and moderate temps returning tomorrow.
10/7/2009 5:30 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M No rain today. Skies were a mixture of clear and cloudy....This ranging from fog to marine layers to thin high clouds to haze....These not enough to keep this site from getting over 9 1/4 hours of sunshine for the day and over 51 hours one week into the month. Temps were cooler....Especially overnight with low being a chilly & damp 38.9 and high a rather mild 56.9. Current temp is 53.1 degrees under partly to mostly cloud skies about 10 minutes before sunset. Average temp so far for the day is just 49.8 degrees. Winds were light and varible from the NE overnight shifting to the NW about 9:30 AM (moving in a fog bank over this site). Breeze freshened then and continued to be somewhat breezy until update time with high gust of 17.4 mph occuring about 1:30 PM with high one minute average wind speed for the day so far of 13.7 mph occuring just a couple minutes before high daily gust. High gust over last hour was 13.3 mph with current ten mintue average wind speed of 8.4 mph from the WNW. Average wind speed for the day so far is just 5.1 mph due to light to calm overnight winds. Barometer didn't move all that much trending up and then back down in a more 'summer' like patten. Total barometric pressure range for last 24 hours plus is just 3mb. Current pressure is 30.104 or 1019.4mb. Forecasts call for clear weather with cool temps and light winds until early next week when some showers are predicted but that's a long way off for this area at this time of the year.
10/8/2009 5:30 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M No rain today as just a few high clouds moved in around mid day to keep max sunshine hours down to under 10 1/4 hours. Temps were cooler to downright colder than normal with high of just 55.5 degrees and low of 38.7 degrees. Currently it's 46.2 degrees about an hour after sunset with an average temp so far of 46.9 degrees which is already cooler than min average temp for the month of 48.1 degrees. Winds were lighter as well with average wind speed so far of 2.9 mph an current ten minute average wind speed of just 0.5 mph....High gust for last hour or 5.1 mph and high one minute average wind speed of 9.6 mph and high gust for the day of 11.2 mph occuring about 3:00 PM. Barometer has been pretty steady with less than 3mb of movement over last 24 hours plus. Current pressure is 30.131 or 1020.4mb. Forecasts call for more of the same over the next 7 days plus with my wife and my dogs and myself heading out tomrrow afternoon for a well earned 2+ week vacation.....These updates to continue although perhaps sporatically.
10/9/2009 5:30 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M No rain today as there was a signifant marine layer which along with some high clouds kept the sunshine total to just over 6 1/4 hours. Temps were warmer today with a warm high of 61.1 and temparate low of 40.6. Current temp two plus hours after sunset is 52.1 degrees. Average temp so far for the day is 51.2 degrees. Winds were light to breey with high gust of 31.2 mph occuring about 9:20 AM with high one minute average wind speed of 24.4 mph happening the same time as high daily gust. High gust during last hour was just 13.5 mph as current ten minute average wind speed is 8.3 mph for the NNE which has been the prevailing wind today. Average wind speed for the day so far is 10.1 mph. Barometer rose and then fell since yesterday's update with current pressure of 30.211 oer 1023.1mb. Forecasts call for continued clearing through the long weekend with breezy conditions and rain returing early next week.
10/10/2009 5:30 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M No rain today as it was a mixture of partly sunny to mostly cloud skies with this site getting almost 7 1/2 hours of sunshine for the day with about 30 minutes of daylight left. This total is just under the 7 1/2 hours of sunshine per day average so far which makes this a fairly sunny start to October 2009. Temps today were rather mild to warm for this time of the year with a balmy high of 59.2 degrees and a very mild low of 48.1. Currently it's 52.9 degrees under mostly sunny skies with an average temp so far for the day of 51.9 degrees vrs average for the month of 50.7 degrees. Winds were...Well windy today and mostly from the NE with high gust of 43.7 mph occuring about 9:15 AM with high one minute average wind speed of 33.2 mph happening the same time as high gust. High gust during last hour was 16.6 mph with current ten minute average wind speed of just 6.4 mph from the NE as winds started to ease significantly over the last 3 hours plus. Average wind speed for the day is a breezy 15.7 mph. Barometer has pretty much been falling slowly for the last 24 hours plus with current pressure of 30.057 or 1017.9mb and falling at a rate of just over .01 inches per hour. Forecasts call for continued clear weather through Columbus day with a special weather statement issued by the NWS forecasting of near record low temps overnight tonight and tomorrow night as well. By Tuesday breezy and cloudy and wet conditions will arrive and predicted to remain this way well into next weekend....As my wife and our two dogs and I head out with our travel trailer hitched to my Tundra for a 2 week road trip first thing tomorrow.
10/11/2009 5:30 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M No rain today as it was pretty sunny and cool overnight and fairly breezy and that's all I have to say.
10/12/2009 5:30 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M No rain again with about 4 1/2 hours of sunshine and light winds with cool temps.
10/13/2009 5:30 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M No rain on this day as I'm doing this update from over 1000 miles away but have calibrated my Davis Vantage Pro2 Plus rain gauge to be very accurate in regards to my COCORAHS rain gauge. High temp for this day was 55.1 and low was 44.4 and average temp was 49.6. It was very windy with a total wind run of 463 miles which is an average of 19.3 mph and a high gust of 41.4 mph. Average barometer was 29.323 which is really a low average with a montly low pressure reading occuring on this day of 29.19.
10/14/2009 5:30 PM 0.15 M M M M Rain started early in the morning and continued off and on throughout the day with totals being somewhat significant for this time of the year. It was mostly cloudy all day with about 1 3/4 hours of sunshine for the day...About equal to yesterday's total. Wind run was 386.5 miles or an average wind speed of 16.1 mph making this the second windy day in a row with a high gust of 39.1mph. Average temp was 53.8 with a very warm high of 61.7 degrees and low of 48.1. Average barometer was 29.501 as it rose almost all of the 24 hour period.
10/15/2009 5:30 PM 0.06 M M M M Rain was light and very intermittent as weather was very fall like in appearance although not quite as windy with an average wind speed of 12.1 mph and high gust of 28.8 mph. Average temp was 54.6 degrees with a very warm high of 63.2 and a low of 50.0.
10/16/2009 5:30 PM 0.46 M M M M Very rainy day with rain continuing from yesterday's update right through to the next day's. Rain really came down hard between about 2:00 PM and 2:20 PM. Winds were lighter but still breezy with an average wind speed of 10.4 mph and high gust of 29.0 mph and high one minute average wind speed of 23.1 mph. Temps were rather warm again with average temp of 56.0 mph and high of 59.7 and low of 52.5 degrees.
10/17/2009 5:30 PM 1.52 M M M M From satellite and doplar and friends accounts it was a very rainy day...However my Weather-Display software crashed just after midnight on the 17th and since I was at Grand Canyon National Park on vacation at the time it took until about 5:15 PM for me to get a friend over to my house to restart the computer and get the software going. The data logger than messed up so some 17 hours of data was lost on the software making it impossible for me to know exactly how much rain fell on that day compared to the rest of them when I was gone. However I did have the aggregate total of rain in the CoCoRaHS rain gauge which added up almost exactly to what the two independent but calibrated Davis Vantage Pro2 Plus rain gauges had for an aggregate total as well so I'm reasonably confident with doing some remedial math that the daily totals while I was gone are accurate with the minor rounding error assigned to this day since there's no back up data. I do know it was wet and that it started raining 3 hours before the midnight crash and continued through update time but don't have a clue as to when the heaviest rain occured but have data from the previous calender day's update as to what the heaviest rain was then so I'm using that for lack of a better solution.
10/18/2009 5:30 PM 0.02 M M M M Some carry over rain from yesterday's update accounted for this minimal total as rain turned to showers and then light drizzle. Winds were light breezy wiht average wind speed of 6.0 mph. High gust was 20.7 mph. Average temp was 53.1 with high temp a warm 58.3 and low 48.0. We did get over 4 hours of sunshine for the day however.
10/19/2009 5:30 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M No rain for the day with there being less than 1/2 hour of sunshine as well with an average temp of 49.9 and high of 52.6 and low of 45.2. Winds were fairly light with an average wind speed of 4.7 mph and high gust of 16.1 mph.
10/20/2009 5:30 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M Cloudy day but no rain as this site got almost no sunshine. Winds were extremely light with average wind speed of just 2.3 mph and high gust of 11.5 mph. Temps were rather cool with average temp of 48.7 and high of 50.8 and low of 45.1.
10/21/2009 5:30 PM 0.39 M M M M Pretty moist day today with rain starting in the early morning hours and continuing off and on right up to just before update time with the hardest rain falling later in the afternoon. High temp for the day was a rather mild 57.5 and low 47.4 and average temp of 51.6. Winds were rather breezy with average wind speed of 8.6 mph and high gust of 24.2 mph. We ended up with about 2 1/2 hours of sunshine for the day as well.
10/22/2009 5:30 PM 0.01 M M M M Cloudy most of the day but just some light drizzle fell about dawn. Winds were light with average wind speed of just 4.9 mph with a high gust of 15.0 mph. High temp was 53.2 and low was 47.4 with average temp of 50.3.
10/23/2009 5:30 PM 0.99 M M M M Very wet and windy day today with rain starting about 11:00 PM and continuing right up until just before update. Some street and yard and marsh flooding occured as average temp for the day was 50.7 degrees with a high of 53.7 and low of 48.5. Average wind speed was 11.7 mph with a high gust of 31.1 mph. Average barometer was 29.946 as it fell until about noon and then started rising about 5:00 PM.
10/24/2009 5:30 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M After a wet day yesterday today was mostly clear and sunny with this site getting some 9 1/2 hours of sunshine for the day taking our monthly total to over 111 1/4 hours and yearly total to almost 1951 hours. Temps were rather cool today with a high of 54.7 and low of 43.9. Currently it's 51.6 degrees under clear and sunny skies about 30 minutes before sunset. Average temp for the day so far is 49.5 degrees compared to a montly average temp of 50.8 degrees. After a blustery day yesterday...Today winds were light to very light with a high gust of 27.0 mph occuring just after midnight and high one minute average wind speed of 23.0 mph happening about 1:00 AM. High gust during last hour was just 4.1 mph with current ten minute average wind speed of 0.0mph. Average wind speed for the day so far is 5.9 mph compared to a monthly average wind speed of 9.0 mph. Barometer rose until about 10:00 AM leveling out then with a current pressure of 30.288 or 1025.7mb. Forecasts call for increasing clouds overnight with a chance of rain tomorrow followed by more blustery and wet conditions early into next week.
10/25/2009 5:30 PM 0.05 M M M M Rain started as light drizzle just before 1:00 PM and continued light and steady right until before update when it picked up just enough to be accounted for as a 'heaviest precipitation' period....Thus it's still raining right through update time with the last 16 or so hours skies having been cloudy to downright overcast. Thus we ended up with virtually no sunshine hours for the day. Temps were rather cool and felt even colder by a light but steady NE wind shich has been blowing now for most of the day. High was just 47.0 degrees and low a chilly 37.5. Currently it's 47.0 degrees with a light rain falling under thick overcast skies about 30 minutes before sunset. Average temp for the day so far is a chilly 41.6 degrees which is sure to go up as NE winds are predicted to switch to the SE warming things up overnight. Light to moderate NE winds averaged 7.4 mph so far for the day with high gust during last hour of 21.9 mph. High gust for the day was 22.9 mph occuring about 4:15 PM with high one minute average wind speed of 19.1 mph happening just a few minutes after the high daily gust. Current ten minute average wind speed is 11.0 mph from the ENE. Barometer has been falling since about 11:00 PM last night with current pressure of 30.040 or 1017.3mb. Forecasts call for breezy and wet for most of the upcomming week. Snow levels are supposed to go up tonight (it feels down here like it's snowing up there...) but then fall again to the 2000-3000 range by tomorrow night and stay at that level into next weekend possibly foretelling of an early start to mountain snow fun this year around here...!
10/26/2009 5:30 PM 0.91 M M M M Quite the rain event today as October is becomming a very wet one....Rain continued rather steady from yesterday's update picking up before midnight and contuning this way until about 9:00 AM. It then stopped and dried out and by about noon the sun came out giving us almost 4 hours of sunshine for the day. However by about 4:00 PM more clouds rolled in this time from the NW accounting for .02 of the total before stopping once again after about raining for 30 or so minutes. The sun came out again although briefly as by 5:00 PM it clouded up again....This time thick dark clouds as the heaviest showers fell during this period as bands of showers continue to roll down the Straights of Georgia from the NW. Showers continued right through update time as a breezy day became quite windy with the onset of these late showers with high gust occuring at 5:15 PM of 35.7 mph along with a high one minute average wind speed of 31.3 mph. Current ten minute average wind speed is 20.4 mph from the WNW as average wind speed for the day is 13.5 mph. High temp was 52.8 and low was 45.9. Currently it's 45.8 degrees under cloudy skies with rain still falling with an average temp for the day of 49.2 degrees. Barometer fell until just before noon and now is slowly rising with current pressure of 29.870 or 1011.5mb.
10/27/2009 5:30 PM 0.10 M M M M Rain continued from yesterday's update rather hard to just past six when it came to a quick end....There were still clouds and showers in the area but none fell on this site with dawn breaking clear overhead with this site getting almost 8 3/4 hours of sunshine today with less than an hour to go until sunset. Clouds pretty much surrounded this area but very few obscured the sun and then for a very limited amount of time with the monthly sunshine total approaching 124 hours....And the monthly rain fall total the second highest for a October for this site since 2003. It also stayed breezy to windy with yesterday's average wind speed of 15.0 mph. Today's average wind speed so far is 15.8 mph as winds gradually ease pretty much since just after sunrise...Winds being from the West and then NW. High gust for last hour was 17.3 mph with high gust for the day of 30.6 mph occuring just after six this morning. High one minute average wind speed of 26.4 mph happened about the same time wiht current ten minute average wind speed of 12.7 mph coming from the West. Temp range was small today and somewhat cool with average temp so far of 46.8 degrees. Currently it's 48.5 degrees under mostly clear and sunny skies with the high being just 50.1 and low 44.7. Barometer has been rising for the entire update period although very slowy now. Current pressure is 30.194 or 1022.5mb. Forecasts call for a lull tomorrow with cool temps....Dry and with light winds followed by quite the blustery system which is supposed to bring the mountain snow levels up to almost 10,000 feet melting what snow has fallen up there so far and depending on lowland rain totals...Possibly bringing some flooding to the area.
10/28/2009 5:30 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M No rain this day and not much sunshine as well as we got just over 1 hour of sunshine to go along with persistent cloud cover. It was rather cool out with average temp of 44.0 degrees with a high of just 47.1 and low 38.8. Winds were light as well with a high gust of 19.6 mph but just 5.4 mph being the average wind speed. Average barometer was 30.237 as barometer rose and then steadied out and then very slowly started to trend downward. Forecasts call for incoming storm to be less of a impact but still breezy and damp but not the hard rain nor the heavy winds which had been forecasted earlier.
10/29/2009 5:30 PM 0.55 M M M M Light rain started light not too long after yesterday's update and pretty much continued both light and steady right until just short of update time with it still perhaps 'misting out' but not strong enough to add any more accumulations as doplar radar shows no impending moisture around this site. Even though this was not as wet nor not nearly as windy as predicted it still was very damp and dark and dreary and a bit breezy for this time of the year as well. We got exactly zero sunshine today as overcast was thick and low and persistent. Winds were from the East and SE today with average wind speed so far of 10.7 mph and current ten minute average wind speed of 10.4 mph from the SE. High gust during last hour was 17.3 mph with high gust for the day of 21.4 mph occuring just before 1:00 AM. High one minute average wind speed was 17.6 mph happening about 6:45 AM. Temp range was small with high of 46.2 and low of 40.5 and average temp of 42.5 degrees so far. Current temp is 46.2 degrees under thick overcast skies with mist and breezy conditions. Barometer has been falling although kind of choppy like with current pressure of 29.916 or 1013.1mb. Forecasts call for rain at time overnight and then a new a vigorous front moving in with very windy and wet conditions by tomorrow night followed by more clouds and rain through the weekend.
10/30/2009 5:30 PM 0.05 M M M M Rain fall was very scattered time wise this update day as time wise precipitation started just after the previous day's update and didn't end until right before this day's update. However rain never was anything but a light drizzle at most with showers very intermittent. Skies were mostly cloudy for most of the 24 hour period and fairly windy as well. High gust for the day was 44.9 mph with high one minute average wind speed of 33.5 mph. Average wind speed for the day was 15.5 mph. Temps were seasonably mild with high of 57.1 and low of 44.9 and average temp for the day of 54.0 degrees. Barometer eased up until about 10:00 AM topping out just short of 1016mb before falling for most of the rest of the day bottoming out about 1007mb. Forecasts call for showers overnight followed by breezy but drier conditions tomorrow to finsh out October 2009 which is by the way the wettest month of 2009 so far and much wetter than October 2008's total of 2.07 inches.
10/31/2009 5:30 PM 0.07 M M M M More showers came through off and on from mid evening hours through just before dawn this morning adding up to a less than impressive total of rain compared to what was predicted. Still this total adds to the rainest month of 2009 so far bringing the year total over 26 inches which is 6 inches + more than this time of 2008. November and December 2008 were very wet months though so it will take just an average amount of rain to finish off 2009 to better 2008's total. Cloudy skies started to break up about mid morning with the sun peaking through off and on until about 2:30 PM when it cleared up for good. Thus we finish off the month with about 4 1/2 hours of sunshine taking our monthly total to just short of 130 hours....6 1/2 hours short of October 2008's sunshine total breaking a string of 9 months in 2009 beating 2008's subsequent montly totals. Yearly total of just short of 1970 hours is more than 400 hours to date more than 2008 though. Today remained breezy to windy for most of the day with high gust of 36.7 mph occuring about 8:20 AM. High one minute average wind speed of 31.9 mph occured just after 9:00 AM with high gust during last hour of 23.5 mph. Current ten minute average wind speed is 13.6 mph from the SSW....As wind switched to this direction gradually throughout the day from SE and now is easing just before sunset. Average wind speed so far for the day is 17.0 mph. Temps were mild once again. High was 54.7 occuring just after midnight with low of 50.7 just before dawn. Current temp is 51.5 degrees under clear skies with average temp for the day so far of 52.5. Barometer trended down until just after midnight bottoming out at 29.731. It's been rising since then with current pressure of 30.151 or 1021.0mb. Forecasts call for continued clearing and easing winds now.
11/1/2009 5:30 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M November 2009 started out with no rain and hardly a cloud in the sky save some high ones moving in from the NW late in the afternoon....Thus we got almost 9 hours of sunshine today which is just short of max for this time of the year and with my software program. As for October 2009....The average wind speed was a respectable 9.7 mph with average temp 49.8 degrees to go along with the most monthly rain for 2009. Average temp for the year so far is 51.5 degrees as average wind speed is a rather light 7.9 mph. On that note today's winds were very light for this time of the year with high gust of just 11.4 mph occuring about 11:00 AM. High one minute average wind speed was 9.3 mph occuring about 10:30 AM with high gust during last hour just 5.1 mph and current ten minute average wind speed of 0.2 mph from the ENE as winds have been varible during last 24 hours plus. Average wind speed for the day so far is just 4.3 mph. Temps were much cooler today than the last couple...Perhaps about average for this time of year with high of 53.5 and low of 41.1. Current temp is 43.0 degrees about 1 1/2 hours after sunset with average temp of 47.0. Barometer rose until about noon today topping out at about 1031.5mb or 30.46 which is the highest pressure recorder here in several months as a decent sized high pressure ridge forms over this area. Barometer is currently trending down slowly with current pressure of 30.42 or 1030.1mb. Forecasts call for continued clearing with cooler temps and very light winds through most of the upcomming week.
11/2/2009 5:30 PM 0.17 M M M M Despite that the NWS had just a low chance of rain today and skies were supposed to be party sunny...In fact skies were mostly cloudy to overcast all day with some rather strong showers falling during the mid day period. We virtually got no sunshine today as well. Rain really didn't last all that long but clouds still persist well past update time. Winds alternated from very light to slightly breezy with average wind speed 6.1 mph. Current ten minute average wind speed is 10.4 mph however from the SE as direction has been varible for last 24 hours plus. High gust during last hour was 16.3 mph with high gust for the day of 18.8 mph occuring just after midnight. High one minute average wind speed is 17.3 mph occuring just before high gust. Temps were much cooler today than the last several with high being only 47.6 degrees. Low was 39.2 since midnight but temps got down to about 38.7 degrees before midnight as well. Current temp is 46.3 degrees under mostly cloudy skies with standard time having it totally dark out now. Average temp for the day so far is a rather chilly 43.7 degrees. Barometer eased down until mid day and now is easing back up. Current pressure is 30.284 or 1025.5mb.

Rain should start after midnight and get rather hard as a flood watch has been issued for this area now for almost 24 hours.
11/5/2009 5:30 PM 0.03 M M M M Significant rain predicted today simply didn't materialize in the area around this site as doplar radar and satellite showed plenty of cloud cover and moisture in the region....Just very little fell here. What rain did fall was just light spinkles but these fell for a long enough duration to account for at least some rain fall totals. Skies were cloudy most of the day....Just not the heavy overcast I was looking for except later on in the afternoon. What today was is windy....Significantly so. High gust for the day is also high gust for last hour and is a stout 46.8 mph as winds are still increasing. High one minute average wind speed of 40.1 mph occured during last hour as well. 11/6/2009 5:30 PM 0.62 M M M M After very windy but not very wet day yesterday this day was merely breezy but certainly wetter. 11/7/2009 5:30 PM 0.35 M M M M Rain came in a series of 3 distinct showery periods with some partial clearing in between adding up to about 1 1/2 hours of sunshine again. Minor flooding is due a lot to high tide table and a fair amount of aggregate ground water with no place really to drain off to. Winds were breezy again and mostly from the SE. High gust was 31.1 mph with high one minute average wind speed of 24.7 mph. Average wind speed for the day was 13.0 mph. High temp was 49.1 and low 41.7. Average temp for the day was 44.8 mph.

11/9/2009 5:30 PM 0.05 M M M M Rain predicted was much less than expected. It came mostly as light and scattered showers with the 'heaviest portion' falling at the end and barely qualifing for that distinction. Windy conditions did for the most part materialize as high gust for the day was 43.0 mph occuring just before 11:00 AM. High one minute average wind speed was 35.4 mph occuring the same time with high gust during last hour of 24.5 mph as winds have eased and now are freshing slightly as ENE winds shift more to the south. 11/11/2009 5:30 PM 0.19 M M M M Very light rain started in the early evening and kept up at that light and steady rate until just after midnight with a short period at the start of this session just slightly harder than the rest of the event to justify it as the 'hardest rain' for this update period. Barometer eased up barely from yesterday's update topping out around 10:30 AM at 1017.5mb or 30.049. It's been falling since with current pressure of 29.945 or 1014.1mb making pressure range for the 24 hours plus less than 3.5mb. Forecasts call for partly sunny and dry tomorrow with light winds followed by more wet and breezy and then windy conditions into the weekend.
11/12/2009 5:30 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M No rain today as skies were partly sunny with just a few scattered clouds. This brings to an end 7 CoCoRaHs days of rain in a row and 8 calender days as well. 11/13/2009 5:30 PM 0.26 M M M M It was fairly windy starting later in the evening and increasing overnight through the early morning hours and really not easing much until about the noon hour. Rain came in a series of showers...The strongest coming before dawn and continuing for over 3 hours before becoming light and then stopping just before noon....Then skies cleared and the sun came out with this site getting almost 3 3/4 hours of sunshine for the day. The rest of the rainfall totals came late in the afternoon as a thunderless series of showers moved down the Straight of Georgia from the NW accounting for .07 of the daily total and the heaviest showers of the day....Some of this falling in the form of small hail. 11/14/2009 5:30 PM 0.01 M M M M After yesterday's update light drizzle finally ended leaving this update with just the minimal measurable precipitation amount. Skies overnight and through today were a mixture of clearing and clouds with just enough sun breaks to get just short of 2 hours of sunshine for this site today. Light winds at the time of yesterday's update then freshened dramatically and shifted to the west with multiple gusts exceeding the 40 mph range until winds subsided through the evening hours to very light to calm about midnight. They stayed very light until about 6:00 AM and since then have been freshening throughout the day switching to the NE and then east and now the ESE. High gust for the day so far was 23.1 mph occuring mid afternoon with high one minutea average wind speed of 20.9 mph occuring about the same time. Barometer has remained rather flat for well over the last 24 hours....Total range since yesterday's update just slightly over 3mb. Current pressure is 30.243 or 1024.1mb. Forecasts call for breezy and wet conditions to continue well into the Thanksgiving weekend with the one major change being the snow level rising to the 7000-8000 foot level meaning poss flooding.
11/25/2009 5:30 PM 0.33 M M M M It was overcast all day with some scattered light showers moving through in the morning hours accounting for about .03 of this updates total. Steady rain then started just before two in the afternoon and continued right through update time. This day was the 'darkest' day of the year so far with solar radiation topping out at only 40 W/M2...Only hitting this once in the morning and once in the afternoon with between the time of 10:00 AM & 2:00 PM hovering right around the 20 W/M2. Winds were rather fitful in both direction and intensity varying from almost calm to quite blustery. High gust was 35.7 mph with high one minute average wind speed of 28.5 mph. Average wind speed for the day was 12.5 mph. Wind direction was mostly from the SE but also came from the SW and NE too. Temps were warmer with high of 54.9 and low of 45.4 and average temp of 45.9 degrees. Barometer sort of eased down for this update period although sometimes it seemed to be rising and a lot of the time it appeared to be steady. Average pressure for the day was 30.059. Forecasts call for continued rain overnight with easing winds followed by a short break in this wet weather and then more breezy and wet conditions to complete the long weekend and start next week out with.
11/26/2009 5:30 PM 0.86 M M M M Steady rain continued from yesterday's update through the evening hours past midnight and then through the early morning hours until almost dawn. This rain hardly varied but did just enough after 3:00 AM to designate this time as the 'heaviest period.' This site now has measurable rain during 14 days in a row and 21 out of 22 days as well. We've also surpased November 2008's rain fall totals. One thing additionally is that weather software told me that we went almost 18 hours straight without rain stopping which is significant....With ground being very soggy already flooding around my home was much more significant than it usually is. Additionally the middle portion of the Nooksak River crested above flood stage while the lower portion close to this site is about 17 feet....With 19 feet being flood stage but major road flooding and closures happening 2-3 below flood stage. Once the rain stopped...It stopped and has yet to return with this site getting enough scattered sunbreaks to total over 1 1/4 hours of sunshine for the day. Temps were mild but not quite as mild as expected with high being 49.8 and low of 45.1. Currently it's 45.7 degrees under overcast skies about 20 minutes after sunset. Average temp so far is 47.3. Winds were much lighter today...On track for being in the bottom 5 for the month in wind energy totals. Average wind speed so far is only 6.6 mph with current ten minute average wind speed of 15.9 mph from the NW as afternoon winds freshen....Wind direction becoming more consistent too. High gust for the day and last hour is 20.6 mph with high one minute average wind speed of 18.4 mph occuring about 3:30 AM. Barometer has been fairly flat for last 24 hours plus with range between 1014.7mb & 1017.3mb. Current pressure is 30.000 or 1016.0mb. Forecasts have changed significantly with much less wind and moisture and cooler temps.
11/27/2009 5:30 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M For the first time in over 2 weeks and only the 5th time this month this site can report no rain having fallen for this update period. Instead skies were a mixture of overcast to scattered clouds to mostly clear...And sunny with this site getting almost 6 1/4 hours of sunshine for the day. Breezy even blustery evening and overnight winds gradually eased since about dawn becoming very light by about 2:00 PM. NNW direction also gradually switched to the NW then WNW and then SW. Current ten minute average wind speed is just 3.8 mph coming now from the SSE. High gust during last hour was just 6.5 mph with high gust for the day of 34.6 mph occuring at 1:11 AM. High one minute average wind speed was 29.9 mph happening at 3:14 AM with average wind speed for the day so far of 14.1 mph. Temp range was rather limited with a high of 45.8 and low of 40.6 degrees happening right around sunset this afternoon. Current temp is 41.6 with average temp for the day so far of 44.0 degrees. Barometer's flat trend ended about midnight with it 'bottoming out' then at about 1015.0mb or 29.972. It rose since but seems to be leveling out now since about an hour ago with current pressure of 30.270 or 1025.1mb. Forecasts are a little eratic with marine forecasts being rather inconsistent going from each 6 hour update...Changing from breezy to light winds. Land based forecasts call for breezy contitions developing overnight with more showers and rain in the forecast throughout most of the weekend with an inconsistent range in temps as well.
11/28/2009 5:30 PM 0.31 0.0 M M M Rain started late yesterday evening as very light sprinkles and continued as light drizzle overnight and throughout the morning hours....It picking up some between 6:30 AM and 12:30 PM with it being just slightly harder around noon....Since then it went back to light but rather persistent drizzle right through update time. Even though it didn't rain very hard with soil saturated all ready minor yard and street flooding occured again. Doplar radar doesn't show much but what there is pretty much is concentrated over this area as cloud cover is more widespread with most of the energy going north into Canada. High pressure ridge keeps this substantial front sliding to the north as it stretches out 1000's of miles southwest into the Pacific. Overcast skies persisted throughout this update period. Very light winds during evening hour gradually freshened becoming quite blustery by the midnight hour and continuing pretty much all day. High gust for the day was 33.6 mph occuring about 4:00 AM with high one minute average wind speed of 26.3 mph happening about 6:45 AM. High gust during last hour was 26.0 mph with current ten minute average wind speed of 16.0 mph coming from the SSE....The prevailing wind direction since the winds started freshening about 8:00 PM. Average wind speed for the day so far is 17.9 mph which is gradually trending downward. Temp range was small today with there being a chilly feel...High temp was 45.6 and low was 42.4. Currently it's 45.6 degrees under overcast skies with mist falling and breezy SE winds. Average temp for the day so far is 43.8 degrees. Barometer has been fairly flat neither really trending up or down. Total pressure range for last 24 hours plus is just 1.8mb. Current pressure is 30.273 or 1025.2mb. Forecasts call for breezy/blustery conditions to change to very light winds. Wet weather is supposed to become foggy.
11/29/2009 5:30 PM 0.16 M M M M Steady light drizzle like rain continued from yesterday's update until just after 9:00 PM when it became just sprinkles...No more rain accumulating until just after midnight when the heaviest rain for this update period moved through...This ending before 2:00 AM with .01 more falling about sunrise completing the day's total. It remained cloudy all day with cloud cover finally just starting to break off to the west right around sunset. Breezy to blustery winds never really eased much at all through the evening hours and throughout all of today. Yesterday's average wind speed was 17.9 mph with today's average wind speed so far of 16.0 mph. High gust for the day was 30.2 mph occuring about 1:00 AM. High one minute average wind speed was 23.2 mph happening about 3:30 AM. High gust during last hour was 22.7 mph with current ten minute average wind speed of 14.3 mph from the SSE....The consistent direction for the entire 24 hour plus period. Temps were slightly warmer with high of 50.4. Low was 46.8 with current temp of 49.9 degrees under mostly cloudy skies about 2 hours after sunset. Average temp for the day so far is 48.5 degrees. Barometer once again remained fairly flat with no real trend apparent unless it's now currently trending down...It being the lowest pressure at 30.253 or 1024.5mb in well over 48 hours. Total pressure range for last 24 hours plus was just slightly more than 2mb. Forecasts keep changing...They started out with dry and light wind but between the 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM marine forecasts they changed singificantly....Small craft advisories extended now several time to past midnight with more breezy conditions predicted past that. More rain in the forecast for next 24 hours with drying out period to start after that.
11/30/2009 5:30 PM 0.34 M M M M While it was cloudy for most of this update's time doplar radar didn't show much moisture out there until this morning when a short but rather intense front moved through here from the NW. Significant enough rain fell in a short enough period of time to cause more minor and local flooding. By update time though overcast skies had started to break up off to the west but not enough to add anything relevent to the month's sunshine totals....This being just short of 55 hours...Ten hours shorter than November 2008 with yearly total over 2024 hours. Rainfall totals this month went well past 2008's total...Almost by an inch with yearly total to date almost even with the aggregate total for entire year of 2008. Winds were quite breezy/blustery again with wind run energy total going over 10,000 miles for this month...One of the windiest on record. High gust for the day was 30.3 mph with high one minute average wind speed of 22.4 mph....Both occuring just after 9:00 AM. High gust during last hour was 21.6 mph with current ten minute average wind speed of 15.1 mph from the NW...Wind switching from the SSE to the west and then NW late in the morning. Average wind speed for the day so far is 13.0 mph. Temps cooled off some too with high of 49.3 and low of 43.7. Currently it's 44.0 degrees under mostly cloudy skies. Barometer trended down until about 10:00 AM and then started to rise. Current pressure is 30.194 or 1022.5mb. Forecasts now call for mostly clear and sunny skies to complete the week with cooler temps and lighter winds.
12/1/2009 5:30 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M December did not start like November left off as today was clear and sunny save some morning fog which burned off fairly early....And not a drop of rain fell either. Thus we got almost 6 1/2 hours of sunshine for the day. It was much cooler today as breezy to blustery wind came from the NE.
12/2/2009 5:30 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M No rain today...Looking at yesterday's update apparently the comment section word count has been reduced to only around 60...Just a fraction of what it used to be so my only comment is why was this changed????????????????

5/19/2010 5:30 PM 0.29 M M M M Winter strength storm came in with @ 50 mph gusts and heavy rain this afternoon after some lite showers last night. Temps varied widely with low of 50.7 and high of 72.8 (the high for the year so far) with the temp then dropping from this high 14 degrees in 30 minutes as the front arrived. Still windy with some lite rain and showers forecasted throughout the evening. Some lite feild street and yard flooding due to amount of rain falling in short period of time.

5/28/2010 5:30 PM 1.45 M M M M Quite the rain event especially for late May with this being the most rain YTD. Rainfall totals also put us past 2009's yearly total and pulls May 2010 almost even with May 2009 monthly total as well. Rain for the most part was steady until mid day with it now being a heavy and persistent mist that's still adding to the daily total. Skies are very dark and it's breezy from the SE as well. Rain fall totals coupled with high tides have cause local street yard and field flooding.

5/31/2010 5:30 PM 0.35 M M M M May 2010 ends as the wettest and cloudiest and coolest May in over a decade at this location with today being typical of the second half of the month. This all happened with May having almost two weeks straight without a drop of rain. This is unusual except that this is an El Nino year where weather like this year is more or less typical.

6/2/2010 5:30 PM 0.40 M M M M Large storm which orriginated in Indian Ocean as a typhoon hit the Northwest today although most of the energy went south into Oregon. However the rain was significant enough and coupled with multiple days in a row of signifcant rain accounted for some local street yard and field flooding as June 2010 rain fall totals already are more than June 2009.

9/27/2010 5:30 PM 0.13 M M M M Rain came mostly in the form of scattered light showers throughout this update period. Still even with these modest totals it puts this site over 5 inches for the month which makes more that twice as much as the next wettest September ever at this site and a rather damp month compared to almost any other month on record. There was almost 1 hour of scattered sunbreaks today but for the most part it was overcast. It was very warm for an overcast day with the temp rising and staying above 70 degrees for a signifcant period while it was cloudy which is rare for any time of the year but almost unheard of for late September.
