Observation Date Observation Time Precipitation Snowfall Snowfall SWE Snow Depth Snow SWE Notes
10/1/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M 24-hr hi/lo(F): 85/61 September concluded with 4.96" (3.24" of which measured on the 28th), the 6th lowest September total in 18-yrs. June 1 - Sept 30 total was 12.29", by far the lowest 4-month wet season total in 18-yrs of recording weather at this location.
10/2/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M 24-hr hi/lo(F): 85/61 Morning low was 62F. 2010 annual rainfall to date now stands at 37.47" (5" below normal). This year was very unusual with twice as much precipitation measured (25.18"!!) during the dry season months of January through May than the 12.29" measured during the wet season months of June through September.
10/3/2010 7:00 AM 0.34 M M M M 24-hr hi/lo(F): 84/62 Precipitation fell from a narrow line of low-topped showers dropping south down the coast generally a few miles either side of I-95 mid-afternoon yesterday.
10/4/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M 24-hr hi/lo(F): 81/55 This morning's low of 55F breaks the 18-yr record low for the date of 56F recorded in 2001, and is the second earliest (fall season) temperature measurement of 55F or lower (earliest was 54F on October 2, 2001).
10/5/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M 24-hr hi/lo(F): 82/51 Temperature at 7 am observation was 59F. The 51F low was observed shortly after midnight under calm conditions with near ideal radiational cooling, then a steady N/NW wind picked up through dawn, greatly moderating the cooling potential. The low of 51F was an 18-yr record low for date, shattering the previous low of 61F in 2006. It also represents the lowest temperature so early in the fall, occuring 5 days earlier than the previous earliest/lowest temperature of 51F recorded on October 10, 2000.
10/6/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M 24-hr hi/lo(F): 81/53 Very dry air mass in place (no dew observed on grass or vehicles this morning). 3rd straight morning with low temperature in the low to mid 50's.
10/7/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M 24-hr hi/lo(F): 77/51 Unseasonably cool (for early October) temperatures continue, with the 4th straight morning low in the 50's. The temperature dropped to 55F shortly before midnight, and held below that level for the remainder of the pre-dawn early morning. The farmer several miles down the road lamented that he did not get his fall garden in early enough to compensate for the slower growth due to the very cool nights below 60F.
10/8/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M 24-hr hi/lo(F): 79/48 Morning low of 48F shattered the record low for date of 63F set in 2006, and is the earliest sub-50F reading I observed in 18 years of recording temperatures at my location in North Brevard County (previous earliest was 48F on October 15, 2006).
10/9/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M 24-hr hi/lo(F): 86/48 Morning low was 50F, marking the 6th consecutive morning low of 55F or lower. This is the earliest run of six straight mornings with temperature of 55F or lower in 18 years of records. Previous earliest was Oct 24-29, 2005 following Hurricane Wilma.
10/10/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M 24-hr hi/lo(F): 86/48 The morning low of 48F, under ideal radiational cooling conditions, broke the previous 18-year record low of 51F recorded in 2000. This morning marks the 7th straight morning with a low of 55F or lower, an event never before observed in October at this location.
10/11/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M 24-hr hi/lo(F): 85/48 Morning low was 55F. This is the 7th straight morning with a low of 55F or lower, a cool weather event not previously observed in October in 18 years of records.

This is the first time in 18 years of records that all of the minimums (Oct 1 - 14) were this low. Usually minimum temps range in mid to upper 60's, with a few 70's usually observed early in the month.
10/15/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M 24-hr hi/lo(F): 87/55 Another pleasantly cool morning, followed by another mild/dry "chamber of commerce" day. WE NEED RAIN!
10/16/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M 24-hr hi/lo(F): 81/42 The low this morning of 42F is an 18-year record low for the date, eclipsing the previous low of 48F recorded on October 16, 2004. The low is also the earliest sub-45F October temperature measured in 18 years, besting the previous earliest October/fall low of 44F on October 18, 2009.
10/17/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M 24-hr hi/lo(F): 81/42 Morning low was 53F. Oct rainfall to date only 0.34". The 18-yr low for Oct was 1.11" in 2006. in 18 years I have observed 21 months with less than 1" here in north Brevard. Jan 2003 lowest at 0.19", May 1998 2nd with 0.29". Oct 2010 will be 3rd lowest if no more rain.
10/18/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M 24-hr hi/lo(F): 80/47 The morning low of 47F did not break the previous 18-yr record low of 44F observed October 18, 2009, but it was the second coldest reading for the date.
10/19/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M 24-hr hi/lo(F): 82/49 Morning low was 55F.

10/22/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M 24-hr hi/lo(F): 82/54 Moderate drought conditions that developed over the summer are now intensifying to severe given the dearth of October precipitation. Fall leaf drop from the maple and elm shade trees on my property is a month ahead of schedule in response to the lack of moisture.
10/23/2010 6:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M 24-hr hi/lo(F): 83/54 Wind decoupling overnight, along with clear sky, allowed very good radiational cooling. This morning's low in the 50's makes 19 out of 23 October morning lows below 60F. The 4 morning lows above 60F were either 61 or 62F. There have been 5 morning lows below 50F. The cool minimum temperatures are indicative of the dry air mass that is well established over the Florida peninsula.
10/24/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M 24-hr hi/lo(F): 83/55 Morning low was 63F, which is the highest low to date for October.

10/28/2010 7:00 AM 0.01 M M M M 24-hr hi/lo(F): 91/67 Morning low was 68F. The 0.01" measured in rain gauge was a product of the dense fog this morning. Yesterday's high temperature tied the 18-yr record high for the date of 91F observed in 2009.
10/29/2010 7:00 AM 0.01 M M M M 24-hr hi/lo(F): 90/68 Occassional thunder was heard, with distant flashes of lightning in the NW, Thursday evening from 7 pm until 8:45 pm. This was followed by a barely measureable, brief sprinkle. With dry weather in the forecast, the month's total of 0.36" looks to stand, making this the driest October in my 18 years of observations. Starting with June, each month's precipitation total was either the driest (July, October), second driest (June, August), or third driest (September) in 18 years of records.
10/30/2010 8:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M 24-hr hi/lo(F): 81/59 Onshore wind decoupled shortly before sunrise, allowing temperature to fall from 65F at 6:30 am to the morning low of 59F at 8 am. Surf water temperature was measured at an unseasonably warm 27C on Thursday 10/28.

Most (0.34") precip fell yesterday nearly equally in two periods of light to moderate showers, the first between 11:30am-12:30pm and the second between 5:30-6:30pm. The morning low of 49F is the warmest daily (midnight to midnight) minimum temperature so far in December. Given that 50F is the average/normal daily low, this speaks volumes on just how cold the month has been to date.
12/20/2010 7:00 AM 0.01 M M M M High yesterday: 53F Morning low: 36F Yesterday's low maximum temperature of 53F shattered the 18-yr min/max for December 19th of 59F recorded in 2003. 12/31/2010 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M High yesterday: 72F Morning low: 47F (warmest low of the month and still below climo!). December 2010 at this location was extremely notable for both temperature and rainfall. Two 18-yr all months/dates record lows were documented (20F on the 14th and again on the 28th, then broken by 18F on the 29th). December also had most freezes (14) of any month (previous was 11 in January 2010), and it was the first month ever that each day (midnight to midnight) had a minimum temperature below 50F (previous fewest 50F or greater days in a month (18-yr period of record) was 5 days, observed on 3 times. December 2010 was also driest December in 18-yrs with only 0.56" (previous was 0.66" in December 2001).
1/1/2011 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M High yesterday: 76F Morning low: 46F This morning's low of 46F makes 32 consecutive days with a minimum temperature below 50F, a remarkable stretch of sub-climo low temperatures and an 18-yr record. Previous longest stretch of sub-50F days was 16 observed last winter on February 6-21, 2010. Notable observations for 2010: June-Dec rainfall total was 15.1", by far the lowest total for the summer, fall and early winter for any year at this location since records started in 1992. Conversely, Jan-May precipitation (normally dry months) total was an astounding 25.79", an 18-yr record for the period. The annual total was 40.89" (2nd lowest in last 18 years behind 38.5" in 2000). 2010 was also noteable for temperature extremes. The previous lowest temperature (any date, 18-yrs of records) of 22F was tied Jan 6th then broken the following day (21F Jan 7th), broken again Dec 14th (20F), then tied Dec 28th (20F), and finally shattered the following day with 18F observed on Dec 29th (establishing the all-time low last 18-yrs!). On the opposite end of the temperature pendalum, summer 2010 was the warmest in the last 50 years for many east central Florida locations, and an 18-yr high temperature (any date) of 102F was set on July 30th, eclipsing the previous high of 101F observed on June 14, 1998. 3/31/2011 9:00 AM 1.77 M M M M High yesterday: 86F Morning low: 63F At 9am observation (delayed due to strong storms in area): thunderstorm with moderate to heavy rain, wind gust from SW to 45 mph observed at 8:20 am. Yesterday, a wind gust from the WSW of 70 mph (est) was observed 5:10 pm on 3/30 during a strong to severe t-storm. Numerous large limbs torn off trees by the near hurricane force winds. It appears that straight line winds associated with a bowing segment of the squall line that raced across east central Florida yesterday afternoon were responsible for the damaging winds. Strongest corridor of wind passed between Mims and Scottsmoor, where extensive damage (downed powerlines, trees and limbs) was incurred. I was driving north on US 1 through this area during the heigh of the storm around 5:10-5:15pm and had to slow to a crawl to avoid being blown off of the highway by the strong gusts. An 18-wheeler on I-95 to the west of my location was blown over onto its side during the storm.

5/26/2011 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M High yesterday: 87F Low overnight: 64F Seasonally mild temperatures were observed during the past 24 hours. Given the current and forecasted weather pattern, I don't expect the summer rainy season to start in east central Florida on time this year. That doesn't bode well for the high drought index (KBDI approaching 600) and wildfire danger.

Only 4.07" measured in July (3" below normal) and near normal precip (8") in June, coupled with the above normal temperatures, does not help climb out of the hole produced by the long-term 14 month drought.
8/4/2011 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M High yesterday: 92 Morning low: 71 Yesterday's high represents a seasonal temperature for my east-central Florida location in mid-summer, thanks to the sea breeze propagation through the area around noon yesterday (instead of delayed later in the day as been the case many times in June/July).
