Snow started yesterday at about 7:30 a.m., stopped briefly in the late evening, then started overnight. At 10:30 p.m. there was 5/8" of snow on the ground. Very light sprinkles very early yesterday and then nothing until snow started at 12:30 p.m. This was a very slushy snow for about 10 minutes and then for about 5 more minutes there was also a "snowball" snow at the same time. This was cool. The "flakes" were like little 1/4" snowballs that smashed apart on impact--just like snowballs do. By 12:45 p.m. the snow ended and we had rain for about 5 minutes. Wild storm last night! Thunder/lightning started about 2 a.m., some rain shortly after. By about 2:30 a.m. thunder and lots of lightning was over head and rain was steady and hard! More lightning than thunder during this episode--about 3 flashes to a sharp crack of thunder. This lasted until about 3 a.m. and then thunder/lightning quit and rain slowed to a steady shower. Rain slowly tapered off with a few thunder rumbles until 4 a.m. at least. |

We were out camping--30-40 miles to the north. Afternoon thunder and lightning and rain a couple of times. Wind came up bad enough to blow a lot around there. Don't know if there was any precip here but did hear there was wind. There is tree debri down--leaves, twigs, and up to 3/4" diameter larch braches. |

Overnight we had 0.04" of precipitaion. We had a trace of rain about 8:30 a.m. yesterday and a pretty good rain storm about an hour later lasting for about 30 minutes or more. Thunder started in the distance shortly after 7 p.m., by 7:15 p.m. it was closer and coming from the east south east. About 7:30 p.m. rain started and then wind--enough to blow the trees around a bit. At 7:40 p.m. the rain almost quit for a couple of minutes and then started raining really hard. Thunder continued throughout. At 7:50 p.m. the rain quit and there was 0.03" in the gauge. At about 8:15 p.m. it started raining again. The thunder never quit--even when the rain did for a bit. There was more wind and harder rain. At about 8:20 p.m. the hail started, first with bb size and then with 1/4" mixed in. Hail lasted for about 1 min., then the rain really came down hard for abother 10 minutes or so. When I checked the gauge at about 8:40 p.m. we had 0.08". This morning there is really heavy dew on the ground. |

Yesterday's weather: 11:34 a.m. a sonic boom thunder clap--very loud, followed by about 4 minutes of light rain. More light rain for a few minutes about 12:30 p.m.and then again about 4:15 p.m. I learned later that the lightning strike hit about 4 miles to the west of us. |

Rain started sometime in midafternoon. When I got home at 5:00 p.m. there was a lot of lightning and thunder--much of it fairly close to us. Rain stopped sometime between 6 & 6:30 p.m. Total at 6:30 was 0.34". There must have been a bit more rain because at 8:30 p.m. there was 0.35". I heard rain start again close to 4:30 a.m. and last about an hour. |
