Precipitation is from thunderstorm that occured late afternoon 05/11/2011. Some wind gusts but no damaging winds and no hail. Just a good soaking storm. Storm accompanied with a quick 20-degree drop in temperature due to arrival of a cold front i.e. temp before storm was 87 degrees F which dropped to 67degrees F.

At my location there was very little activity with the storm cells that moved through and around Tulsa, OK 05/12/2011. I believe my precip recording is pretty accurate this time. At my location the heaviest rainfall lasted only 2mins. then was a very fine drizzle till all stopped at 0630PM. That is how storms move through Tulsa. Yet, just 10.64 miles south of me in Bixby, OK. they had near torrential rainfall starting around 0610PM with nickel-size hail. No such thing occurred at my location.

Skies were overcast all morning then cleared in the afternoon. Thunderstorm developed quickly late evening-came in from the south. Usual pattern of heavy rain for a short time then the miserable drizzle till 11:00PM when it ended. There was moderate lightening and thunder before it rained, but once the raind started there was just some wind gusts which stopped once the heavy rain stopped. There was no hail. Skies are still very overcast. |

Huge tornado producing thunderstorm to the north of my location yesterday evening. The huge anvail-shaped and cumulous clouds were visible and a storm here looked imminent. But, it all dissiapated before it reached here. However, this morning there are darkening skies to the southwest. |

Because of the very strong winds accompanying last nights storm i.e. around 50MPH my gauge was blown over during the heaviest rain. I got it uprighted around 11:50PM and it only measured a trace of rainfall since then. Very strong storm last night with heavy lightening, thunder, strong winds and hail. During the heaviest rainfall with the strong winds the rainfall was blinding. Storm caused widespread power outages, my location included, which occured at 11:25PM. At this point I really don't care about getting any rain-I just want some cooler temperatures! It looks like there isn't going to be much fall colors as all the trees in my area are loosing their leaves due to the heat and no rain. I just read your monthly email newsletter which included comments about making comments with our daily reports. Well, I have wanted to but have refrained because I have not wanted to make the "atmosphere" less intolerable than it has been here in Tulsa, OK. this summer. I just want to say this has been the worst summer I have EVER experienced and I am 57years old! The heat has been unbearable for me. I am a cool/cold weather person and I really feel if I had been any weaker than I was I probably would not be here to record these comments now. I thank God for that. And, as I drove home tonight after viewing the spectacular front coming in from the southeast I decided I WILL NOT spend another summer like this in Oklahome-or anywhere if I really can help it. I have been aware that the northwest states have been the coolest spots in the U.S. this summer because I work in customer service and talk to people all over the U.S. every day. So, I am not surprised that they have frost adviseries out already. And, anyway, due to my own internal weather system I have been expecting a very early winter here in the U.S. I have less than a year to prepare to move if next years summer here even burps 100+-degree weather as early as it did this year. Wish me luck-I'm going to need it!
