However, what seems to be an endless pattern, our area once again had a morning time system pass through the region, which in most cases means you get the left over from the day before - heavy activity. Once again our precipitation was mostly on the light side, with isolated areas receiving over .20 of an inch of rain, and all the thunderstorm activity had dissipated prior to arrival.

Every storm within 50 miles disipated and never re-developed. Makes you wonder if cloud seeding was done to kill the storms. Some of this area is still short on rainfall.

5/27/2011 11:59 PM 0.15 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 It was another missed opportunity for some benefial rain over the area. We were one of the lucky ones, but it was still not enough to help the dry spell we are in. It looks like this will be the 8th month in a row with below normal precipitation. All the systems that approach the area slide west to north of us, leaving us on the trailing end of all the precipitation.
5/28/2011 11:59 PM 0.94 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Talking about being in the right place at the right time - this spot was. Hopefully this weather pattern will change and the Deep South can start making up for missed rainfall region wide.

6/2/2011 11:59 PM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 The other day I benefited from a heavy thunderstorm while the rest of the area remained dry. 6/5/2011 11:59 PM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Had another few and far between rain chance days, and once again we had some late evening slide by and another approaching line of thunderstorms that dissipated before reaching us. So, once again, another zero day. It makes one wonder if there is someone hired to seed some of the clouds upwind which we all knows kills the activity downwind. I used to live in an area where they cloud seeded developing storms. It made it rain on the spot, but dissipated quickly, or if rain moved into an area where they could cloud seed, it did kill the rain downwind. All it did was kill the updraft in the clouds. I do not know if that is happening in this local area, but is sure does appear that way. The storm that developed over this spot a week ago that dropped almost an inch of rain here, downwind just a few miles away got zero. It totally dissipated.

6/7/2011 11:59 PM 0.11 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 It was not much, but I was one of the lucky few that benefited from the sea breeze front that broke through the mid level inversion during the afternoon hours.

6/12/2011 11:59 PM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 No rain had fallen before midnight, however a thunderstorm was approaching this area. Thunder was heard at 11:55 PM, and hopefully the rain will soon follow. It appears it will be just after midnight when and if the rain occurs.
6/13/2011 11:59 PM 0.02 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 What was and has turned out to be an unseasonal dry weather pattern, we had another line of thunderstorms move into the region from the NW only to dissipate to almost nothing as they moved SE over us just after midnight this morning. It seems every storm or rain band that has moved into this area from the NW this season dissipates prior to arriving.
6/14/2011 11:59 PM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00
6/15/2011 11:59 PM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Well, still waiting. An intense line of thunderstorms was just about over us, moving in from the NW again, and it dissipated before getting here. A new line of storms was approaching, but will be here just after midnight - but will not believe it until I see it. One of these times it has to hold together and allow us to get some measurable rains. Everything is yellow.
6/16/2011 11:59 PM 0.29 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 What looked to be a grand chance for a lot of needed rain bumbed out at this location. A solid line of thunderstorms was knocking on our door just before midnight last night but dissipated rapidly. Another line of storms moved in an hour later, but the northern end weaken as it moved over this spot, while just south of here one plus inch rains fell.
6/17/2011 11:59 PM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 An area of thunderstorms was approaching from the southwest prior to midnight. The NWS says slim chance, but on radar it looks rather healthy and getting close. It seems the best rains happen when the offical chances are low. Hopefully after midnight we benefit from these storms.
6/18/2011 11:59 PM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Another in what seems to be an endless line of thunderstorms moving in from the NW dissipated just before moving over this area. Once more, a solid line of severe storms was on our doorstep, and totally died. Just prior to midnight, another area of less intense rain was moving in, but was also showing signs of dissipating. Thunder was noted for about 30 minutes just before and after 11 P.M., but no rain.
6/19/2011 11:59 PM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 After last nights dissipation, the forecast today was for another system to move in, giving us a good chance for rain / storms - but once again, this system never materalized, so another missed opportunity, and the forecast over the next few days has partically dropped any chance for rain, so the drought continues for most of this immediate area.
6/20/2011 11:59 PM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00
6/21/2011 11:59 PM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Another close but no cigar day. Hopefully the trough just west of the area will drift into our region tomorrow and park itself for weeks so we can get our share of rain. If gets frustrating watching slide by after slide by storm, or see several dissipate before they reach us.

6/23/2011 11:59 PM 0.90 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 We finally got some rain. Just south of here over two inches of rain fell. We need more.

6/28/2011 11:59 PM 0.25 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 After watching a line of severe thunderstorms dissipate just before moving into this area from the NW, again, I once again felt like we missed another chance for needed rain. There is something about SE moving storms all season long that are strong till they get within 20 miles of here, then they dissipate. I still wonder if there is some sort of experiment going on in the county just NW of here with storm clouds. Storms from any other direction hold together. However, a small thundershower developed right over this spot from an outflow area, and a brief, but heavy downpour occurred during the mid afternoon hours.
6/29/2011 11:59 PM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Another day, same ol' result as from many days before. A decent chance for rain and nothing formed close to this region today, and now none is in the forecast. After tomorrow it will mark the ninth month in a row of well below normal precipitation. The dry weather is so widespread over the SE in general as a whole, even family members in Lubbock, Texas are dry - only one measureable rain day in the past 90 days, and this is suppose the be their rainy season, too. By the time the mid level inversion that has been parked over the Southern U.S. breaks down, any region wide / widespread rain will be way too late to save the farmers, lawns, everything that needs water.
6/30/2011 11:59 PM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Talk about frustration. The office I work at benefited from an isolated, very intense thunderstorm located next door to the NWS. 2.13 inches of rain fell during the mid afternoon storm, while nearby areas had zero, as did my location at home. All we could do was watch the depressing event. I ended up with 1.57 for the month of June - while some people would die for that amount - it was way below the normal of 6 inchesfor June. This was the ninth month in a row of below normal rainfall.
7/1/2011 11:59 PM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 A new day, a new month, another missed opportunity. Once again this neighborhood got slid by for the second day in a row when very heavy, intense storms formed just east and south of here. If this were the desert southwest everyone would be used to the no rainfall, but when you live in a moist climate where it usually rains 4 to 5 times week, and you only get some about once every 2 to 3 weeks, then it gets very frustrating.
7/2/2011 11:59 PM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Once again it happened again. The past few days every storm that developed moved due south, and slid by to our east, or developed just south of here. Today a severe thunderstorm developed north of here, but in stead of moving south over us, this storm moved southwest, missing us totally. Can't win for losing.

7/5/2011 11:59 PM 0.08 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 It was not no where near enough, but we in the right spot for a small late afternoon sea breeze shower. Late this evening a cluster of thunderstorms was progressing slowly this way from the SW. Hopefully they will hold together and give us some overnight rain.
7/6/2011 11:59 PM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 This entire area was almost covered in showers & thunderstorms this afternoon, and I thought for sure this would be the day we got our share of actual beneficial rain - but no cigar. All around but none here.
7/7/2011 11:59 PM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 When it rains it pours - NOT. I do not mean to complain so much but you know you are jinxed when you have 3 separate thunderstorms from 2 pm through 7 pm and not a drop of rain fall at your location. The first storm passed just east of here around 2 pm, the second developed just north of here, and the third was the most frustrating. It was stationary just west of here and up to 2 inches of rain fell 2 miles from from here, and not a drop here. A disturbance moving north from the NE Gulf could bring us some badly needed rain over the next 2 days, some of which may move into the area before sunrise Friday.
7/8/2011 11:59 PM 0.40 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Finally got some rain. Not to complain, but it rained 3 times and needed more. The heaviest shower fell between 8 am and 8:45 am. The same places from days past got rain again. Hopefully more will follow as the developing storm in the NE Gulf works it way this way.
7/9/2011 11:59 PM 0.71 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Many people would jump for joy to get .71 of an inch of rain when it has been so dry in spots. For those who keep rainfall amounts on a daily basis they would once again feel cheated when you were on the low end again for regional rainfall amounts. Light rain lingered behind the main line of storms for over an hour. No one wants a flood of course, but just 1 1/2 miles north of here 1.92 of an inch of rain fell. The Wal Mart Store on the north end of Moncks Corner, 3 miles north, flooded with over 3 inches of rain. The NWS office 17 miles due south got almost 3 inches. This location was centered between two solid lines of very heavy thunderstorms. However, 1.11 for a two day total is very welcome. We just need that much per week to just make normal averages for this region, so I / we hope it continues, and maybe one of these days this location will get to report the high end of a rainy day.
7/10/2011 11:59 PM 0.11 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 A few afternoon showers developed over the area this afternoon, mainly within 25 miles of the coastline. The precipitation was moving SW, which is a indication of an upper level ridge moving back into the region. This spot caught the edge of one of these showers. As has been the case all along this season, we missed the heavier precipitation amounts by just a mile or two.
7/11/2011 11:59 PM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 There was three showers that developed within 10 miles this afternoon, but none moved over this location. Hope we are not heading back into the miss you again syndrom.
7/12/2011 11:59 PM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Nothing today, hopefully this location can catch up on what everyone else received the past week beginning tomorrow when the next rain chances begin, again. This spot was either on the edge of every storm, totally missed, or was between heavy cells like the ones that caused flooding rains just north and south of here Saturday, while we got a decent amount for our three day total, it was a far cry from what the rest of the region received. Our 1.11 was the light end of our neighbors. Maybe this next round I will be able to report we got our share of rain instead of the same areas getting soaked every time it clouds up.
7/13/2011 11:59 PM 0.58 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 What started off as a disappointing afternoon ended up better. Two thunderstorms edged by this spot during the afternoon, as has been the same past result, we were on the edge of both storms, and the two storm total was .10 . However, during the evening hours a cluster of new storms developed right over our region, and with it came lots of lightning, and almost a half inch of rain.
7/14/2011 11:59 PM 1.48 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 I finally got my direct hit thunderstorm this afternoon. Most all the activity was mainly in a small radius around the Charleston area, with several isolated areas of intense rain.

7/24/2011 11:59 PM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Well, we are back to the need rain again, and once again we had a few showers and thunderstorms right on our door step, but as it has happened many times this season, they died before even dropping a speck of rain. There is a few showers drifting around the region at midnight, so maybe we might get lucky over night.
7/25/2011 11:59 PM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Not to pick on the NWS, but it happens everytime it seems - the afternoon forecast was changed to an 80% chance of thunderstorms, some very heavy - however, no sooner than they upped the chance - everything dissipated. Late this evening storms drifting in from Georgia and inland SC was moving this way, but with our luck - it will die before making it here. Hopefully me saying that will make it rain overnight.
7/26/2011 11:59 PM 1.67 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Finally received some more rain - this time it was mainly overnight through the morning hours.
7/27/2011 11:59 PM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 There was some very heavy coastline rains this morning ( some areas over 5 inches ) - this spot is 25 miles from the coast, all the actvity remained 10 miles out and inward.

7/31/2011 11:59 PM 4.87 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Just before 4 p.m. just a few thunderstheads began forming near my location. Shortly there after, a series of contunious thunderstorms re-developed over and over thru 6 p.m. During that time 4.72 iches of rain fell. There was frequent cloud to ground lightning, and a period of 1/4 inch hail. The rain eased up to just light to occasionally a bit heavier all the way to 11:30P.M. Another area of rain was drifting SSE towrds the area, but would be after midnight getting here.

8/7/2011 7:00 AM T 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 We got to watch just to our south what we received last Sunday. Over 5 inches fell just to our S-E, but it was a narrow, training band of storms. Just south and east of that area very little rain fell also.

8/9/2011 7:00 AM T 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 The only thunderstorm in the whole area was a lake affect storm. It formed on the southeast side of Lake Moultrie from a light northwest wind blowing over the lake. Moncks Corner itself got most of the shower, as I was on the edge of the storm with only a trace. Then the strom dissipated quickly as it moved to the southest away from the lake.
8/10/2011 7:00 AM 0.01 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 We were on the very eastern edge of a scattered line of thunderstorms that streched from Coastal SC to and through Southern Alabama. Just south to southwest of here much heavier precipitation fell.
