21 and mostly cloudy--COLD! Yesterday morning around 8:30-11am had series of snow "squalls" with blowing wind. Snow could be seen barely accumulating on sides of roads and the grass. But Sun emerged around noon and it was immediately gone except for some rooftop crevases in the shade. Last few days have polished off what was left of any summer plants outside that had such an extended growth period due to warm fall. |

38 sunny and clear. had a few sprinkles right at 8am then nothing until first wave of storms came through with thunder lightening and gusty winds at 11 am.
Rain continued until second major line came in at 2:00pm. I was out in Madison shopping and tornado warnings given--all taken to safe place in store. Could hear winds rain some hail and thunder. We were released at 2:30 when storm passed. No damage to bldg I was in. But on road home two doors down Large store signs were bent, others blown out. Garden center canapies were tossed across property even a hwy traffic arrow sign was blown over into the road. Power lines were down in Hendersonville in two places on 31 and had to detour around. Lots of signs blown out and trees down along the way. Trees blocked road into my neighborhood. When I got home a huge tree limb was down on my new fence. We had a couple more thunderstorms rumble through around 6 and 8pm and just rain and falling temps until around 10 when it started to clear. Wind was still up when we went to bed at 11. We had no power from 2:00pm until 3:00 am.

Wind gusts intensified all evening right up to the front coming through. Luckily the storm intensity had decreased by time it got here. It was still a strong storm and I think rainfall amounts are less than what actually fell due to the strong gusts of wind. More storms come through during the night--esp around 4:30-5am. Winds are calm this am and no rain. No tree damage in my immediate area--that I can see from here. |

70 sun with some haze. Rain fell around 2pm in form of a heavy downpour that lasted less than 5 minutes. We caught the edge of a severe thunderstorm that passed just north and east of us. Had a few strong wind gusts but that was about it. Could have used more rain from it. But it did cool down the temps by 20 degrees for awhile making it much more pleasant. |

Once again many in our surrounding county and areas to the south and east of us have gotten all the rain. This seems to be the pattern of the summer--if we get rain--and many times we don't..it is always to the south and east. But not complaining too much as at least we have some slow steady rain to relieve this extended dry spell--vegetation looking very stressed over last two weeks. |

Though it was lighter in the morning, by afternoon heavier rain "bands" came through on and off the rest of the evening. No localized flooding yet...this slow steady rain is just what we needed after such a dry summer--esp July. Still a little breezy out this morning..but looks like we escaped without the 8-10 inches other parts of the state have encountered! |

Wind picked up yesterday--but no real damages--few leaves and dead limbs were knocked down. Total of rain for last four days here was 4.27! And boy did we need it..plus it fell slow and easy so that the majority was soaked up by the ground. Lots of happy trees and plants out there now. |
