12/9/2011 7:00 AM 0.20 3.7 0.20 8.0 M Fine snowflakes began falling as we left home. We drove out of the snow north of Missouri Valley and it caught up with us. North wind 15 to 25 MPH with a gust as high as 40 MPH.
5/7/2012 7:00 AM 0.18 M M M M Continuous lightning was from here north with a shelf cloud and a north wind up to 35 to 40 MPH.Most of the rain fell several miles north of us.It has been the case with his week's thunderstorms--heavier rain within a few miles north or south of us.

5/20/2012 7:00 AM 1.60 M M M M After a brief heavy thunderstorm around 7:40, a strong thunderstorm darkened us to dusk A nice shelf cloud moved east with wind of 50 to 55 MPH which blew off some limbs. Lightning was almost continuous, and the visibility was as low as 1/4 to 1/2 mile. Other active thunderstorms with frequent lightning moved over through after 11PM. We needed the rain because the top soil was dry, and we had blowing dust and sand from the flood on windy days.
5/23/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Our computer has been close to death's door. Interruptions in my reports are due to the computer problems.
5/24/2012 7:00 AM 1.04 M M M M The edge of the first thunderstorm gave us 45 to 50 MPH wind gusts with as low as 1/8 mile visibility in blowing dust and sand. The edge of a small thunderstorm around 7 PM dropped pea sized hail. It missed Little Sioux and River Sioux. Heavy rain with frequent lightning fell after7:20 with a rainbow visible later. A heavy thunderstorm also hit after 3:20 AM
5/25/2012 7:00 AM 0.25 M M M M Low spots in fields have puddles for the first time in weeks at least.
5/26/2012 7:00 AM 0.11 M M M M Showers passed over in the morning with a small thundershower around 11 AM A strong thunderstorm was mostly north after midnight. Lightning was almost continuous with a good shelf cloud. It was vivid with a steady roar. The wind shifted to the northwest and west at almost 50 MPH and we might have had a few hail stones with a burst of rain. It sounded like hail, but I didn't see any. Sand and silt from last year's flood must have been in the air, because our car parked outside has dirt on it. We will be gone for several days.
5/29/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M While we were gone a cold front helped cause thunderstorms Sunday night and early Monday morning. .93 fell from around 11PM through 1 or 2 AM. We had dense fog on Monday morning before the sky cleared.

6/11/2012 7:00 AM 0.60 M M M M Light showers developed ahead of the cold front. Then a heavy thunderstorm developed over or near our farm. There was a steady roar, and close lightning briefly knocked off our power. A second heavy thunderstorm moved over around 7:35 till 8 PM Other showers with distant thunder were around, also behind the cold front. A little early morning fog. Our high yesterday was 91 and it was down to 56 this morning. Corn leaves were beginning to roll in the heat of the day.
