6/8/2012 9:00 AM 0.44 M M M M 'trace' amount fell all day gradually becoming a moderate steady rain by nightfall. Wife was awake at 2am and said it was still 'really' coming down, too.
6/9/2012 9:00 AM 0.03 M M M M big showers in the afternoon beneath towering cumulus produced little rain, and reported sleet in the higher elevations above 3000' locally
6/10/2012 9:00 AM 0.32 M M M M My Dad is in town from Boston, so I didn't record rain times as usual... just have a total for the day. The afternoon rain DID produce some VERY minor street flooding in the tire grooves and low areas. That period of heavier precip approx 4:30 - 5:30pm
6/11/2012 8:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M finally... A (more typical for this time of year) mostly sunny and dry day to report.
6/12/2012 8:00 AM T M M M M Radar shows we had return over us for 2hrs this morning... found just a trace in the tube.
6/13/2012 9:00 AM 0.05 M M M M Severe T-Storm popped up over us in late AM and dropped most of this measurement. Half-dollar sized hail reported 15-20 miles SE by spotter near Culdesac
6/14/2012 9:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Zero precip here, while our thoughts and prayers go out the fire-ravaged people of the CO area.
6/15/2012 9:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M A gorgeous day with late afternoon high cloud cover turned into the most beautiful sunset display of virga that seemed to last fiery-red forever. 6/18/2012 9:00 AM 0.02 M M M M Lightly raining now at collection time, but it was a dry day with just a few Cu for this reporting period until overnight sometime.
6/19/2012 9:00 AM 0.02 M M M M interesting mid-level front came in from the north and dried us right out after lt morning rain .04 total (occurred during readings period) allowing cool cloudy conditions to rule the night. Unknown if any additional precip occurred overnight.
6/20/2012 9:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M A final push of mid level moisture (virga) came thru yesterday and we have FINALLY entered the summer pattern. *We may not have much to report for a while now~ HOT tommorrow

6/23/2012 9:00 AM 0.01 M M M M Big Drops! Little Rain during high-based T-Strm rolled through just as Seether took stage. We stood there in the rain for two songs, and it was done. (Fairgrounds are two blocks from this location)
6/24/2012 9:00 AM T M M M M Only in Lewiston, can we have TWO imminent Severe Thunderstorm Warnings with half-dollar sized hail reported... and come out with only a Trace of -r at this particular location. Across town we rode and saw some puddles by the river. HOWEVER: It should be noted that after such a lush spring, if we are going to continue this pattern of severe DRY storms across the region then one could assume we may be in a bad fire danger year.

6/26/2012 9:00 AM 0.68 M M M M and still raining, at time of collection. It was REALLY coming down when I got up at 0630. 6/27/2012 9:00 AM 0.16 M M M M heavy rain in the AM (recorded yesterday) concluded with another .10 was then followed by brief showers you could set your clock on approx .01 each, until the storm with backside Mamatos shortly before sunset, and everything became rapidly clear. 7/1/2012 9:00 AM 0.16 M M M M Severe Thunderstorm produced 1/4" hail... rain came in spells with the cells all evening. 1" hail reported 12mi south in Waha. Another unusual aspect of this day was an early morning sun-shower produced apparently by Alto Cumulus.
7/2/2012 9:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M did get a morning Trace at work down along Hells Gate SP, but not here at reg location
7/3/2012 9:00 AM T M M M M Once again, severe weather popped up just north in thin stripe of heavy precip and hail from Pomeroy (WA) to Libby (MT) through the night, eventually overtook the Valley with impressive clouds and vivid lightning... but only a trace of Rain, at our location. Meanwhile, radar storm totals showing St Maries got over 1.5". (approx 40mi north)

7/7/2012 8:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M 00 rain at registered location, but we climbed into the Blue MTNs (Joseph, OR. 98 MI SSW) and watched a fabulous thunderstorm develop around us...from 9,000'! Then as we rushed home, racing to get out of it's way. There was hail and mild tree damage to the national Forrest around us crazy winds... Then as mammatos developed and the storm matured, it 'hooked right' (as usual) and slid south east of the LC Valley. A near miss, but beautiful vision at sunset from registered location. Learned allot about our area weather generation and where the storms originate from this time of year, with the SW Monsoon season... even when they aren't in the forecast but just seem to 'pop up' such as on this day...
7/8/2012 9:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M 0.00 Precip but... Yet another Severe TS came up from the Canyon at 1900. Went severe over Pomeroy, West of here, and the outflow came as 20:00 40mph windstorm- taking down three large west-facing branches of a 50' maple tree infront of our house. The largest being 20ft long x 7in wide that came down possibly damaging the living-room! In the pics submitted to NOAA/Spokane you can see precip (most likely hail) all around us. Just nothing here. (High temp was 102)
7/9/2012 9:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M After a record high temp of 106, three main waves of thunder arrived during this reporting period from south but all storms dissipated before reaching this location. This AM i can see it all around us, but nothing here (yet, anyway)

7/17/2012 9:00 AM T M M M M Big monsoonal push (flash flooding advisories)came up the mountains East, proceeded North to St Maries, hooked to the West, pounded Spokane, regrouped and squalled through middle of WA... went severe three times and circled us 290 degrees... but all we got was a few drops at sunset.
7/18/2012 9:00 AM T M M M M Severe Storm formed over Anatone (We were there) capable Ping-Pong Ball-Sized Hail. solid precip observed and photographed...See Flora, OR. 8/20/2012 9:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Another line wildfire-causing storms formed over SW Idaho and Eastern Oregon and looked like they were going to make it here... when afternoon heating was lost and all we got, were the blown-off tops to filter the sun. .... It should ALSO be noted that one month ago was our '1 inch hail' event. we have been running zero-zero's ever since.
8/21/2012 9:00 AM T 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 I had to go bed at 0230 around when the trough got here but showing no recorded precip this morning in the Official gauge. HOWEVER MY WIFE REPORTS A 'TRACE' AT 0730 LOCAL... Other areas of region picked up some heavier amounts~ I'm concerned as front occludes over Western Montana today that the Lo Lo fire could intensify. The plume stuck around south East of town all day. Breezy dry conditions this AM shifting winds must be of a concern down there....

8/25/2012 9:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 I went down with 'Ranger Shawn' and toured some of the Cache Creek event which has grown to 23,000 acres. (approx 20m south of here) I arrived just as the inversion capped and a back burn was set south of the active fire. 450 personnel are now now working the scene including 7 aircraft, and local law enforcement was forced to close access to the city (?) of Rogersburg. I posted some pics from just across the canyon at the ID/WA/OR border on picassa if interested https://picasaweb.google.com/103997268970213283286/FireHellsCanyon?noredirect=1 This was DAY 5 of the event, that began with a single dry lightning strike in grass on 40 degree slope, Monday at 4:30PM
8/26/2012 8:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 It was a very hazy/smokey day with the inversion holding through the day around 4,000' holding the smoke in the valley (from the fires) today a LP center is off the WA/OR coast will start moderating the weather. 9/2/2012 9:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Northerly push from BC system squeezing through Canadian Rockies made for some pretty cold night temps in NE Washington, (freeze warning for Colville for example) but cool southerly flow here pumped up a night of ground-hugging smoke from Cache Creek fire down here. 9/24/2012 9:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 the LOW formed over us Saturday night, we had a trace, as the precip headed north then West, circled WA and came back around through OR and then into Central ID Boise.... but we never saw a drop. THE GOOD NEWS is some of the fire plagued areas of the Southern Hells Canyon DID pick up almost 1/4" in some spots (radar indicated)...going on 65 days without measurable rain, except for that .02 on 9-16
