Temperature @ 9:54 a.m. is 32.0° F There is a skiff of snow on the ground. At 7:40 p.m. last night we had a very hard wind gust about 45 to 50 mph., from the west. It continued for about 20 minutes and was accompanied by intense snow flakes that seemed to be frozen together in clusters. The wind was strong enough to make my home make a creaking sound. The temperature went from 54° to about 45° in 5 minutes. Power went out after the initial gust of wind. |

I went out to find rain and snow in and on my gauge. 0.21 hundreds of rain in gauge from yesterday and 0.29 hundreds melted water from snow on top of gauge. total of 0.50 for both. Then the melted core from sample on snow board was 0.21 hundreds. Snow was 2 1/2" deep on board. What is odd is that we have only had small amounts of rain/snow all winter, until this morning. When I got up this morning about 7:00 A.M. the wind was blowing steady from the West. I was shocked to feel the difference between this morning and the last three weeks. I checked the Wind chill and it was 33° F. If you have ever stood in a constant wind at a lower temperature for any length of time, you know what I am talking about. What really gets my attention about this front, is the coldness of it, when it reaches the great plains, Kansas,Nebraska,Oklahoma and various other states, I believe that it will start a set of Twisters that people are not ready for.
