6/30/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms developed late night 6/30/2012 along a quasi stationarey front that extended from northeast to west central Missouri(KCI) to north central Kansas. However, the scattered showeres and thunderstorms dissipated and moved south to south central Kansas prior to reaching central Missouri. More showers and isolated thunderstorms have developed along the quasi-stationary over north central and northeast Missouri early morning 7/01/2012, moving slowly north.
7/1/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 OVC CS, associated with MCC moving across north central and northeast Missouri, during moring 7/01/2012 became BKN to SCT AC early afternoon, as scattered rain/few thunderstorms remained over north central and norteast sections. Elsewhere, abnormally DRY, moderate drought, severe drought, even extreme drought Missouri bootheel persists.
7/2/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms developed across western east central and south central Missouri middle afternoon 7/02/2012, moving east and dissipating. Abnormally DRY, moderate drought, extreme/severe drought conditions persists over the remaining areas of Missouri.
7/3/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Showers and isolated thunderstorrms were confined mainly to southeast Missouri afternoon 7/03/2012. Elsewhere across Missouri, abnormally DRY, moderate drought, severe/extreme drought(mainly northeast and southeast persists.
7/4/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Middle/upper troposphere ridge buikding eas across the central and north plains into the middle and upper Mississippi 7/04/2012 maintained mostly CLEAR skies across Missouri. Abnormally DRY, moderate drought, severe/extreme drought (mainly northeast and southeast Missouri) conditions persist.
7/5/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 July 3 2012 US Drought Monitor issued July 5 2012 indicates severe drought conditions, although of a short term nature(<6 months)persists across Missouri, except southwest/northwest where moderate drought now exists. Extreme drought conditions persists across southeast/bootheel Missouri.
7/6/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Although widely scatered showers/isolated thunderstorms, associated with midle troposphere disturbances, moved east across southeast, south central, now southwest Missouri late afternoon, evening, night 7/06/2012, abnormally dry/moderste drought(northwest, southwest), extreme drought(southeast/bootheel), severe drought persists across Missouri. Also, near record or record daily maximum temperatures were reached at a few central, north central, east central Missouri locales.
7/7/2012 12:59 AM 0.09 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Mid/upper troposphere disturbances and associated scattered showers/few thunderstorms moved north then east across south central, central, east central Missouri afternoon 7/07/2012. Prior to shower and thunderstorm activity, record daily maximum temperatures of 106F and 107F were set Columbia Regional Airport and Lambert Saint Louis International Airport, respectively, Besides 0.09 inch at Columbia 0.6 W, known storm total rain amounts varied from 0 or trace at Columbia Regional Airport, 0.03 inch at University of Missouri AES Sanborn Field, 0.17 inch at Jefferson City Memorial Airport, 0.95 inch at Rolla Memorial Airport, Moderate drought(northwest/southwest), severe drought, extreme drought(southeast/bootheel) conditions persists in areas that did not receive measurable rain.
7/8/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 MCC and associated scattered showers/moderate, heavy RAIN/thunderstorms moved west southwest along a quasi-stationary front across west east central Missouri over southern Boone and Cole counties. This moderate/heavy rain activity has prompted NWS Saint Louis/Saint Charles to issue a small stream/FLOOD advisory for affected areas of southern Boone and Cole Counties until 6AM CDT or 11Z 7/09/2012. At 1AM CDT or 06Z 7/09/2012, 0.66 inch had been recorded aat Columbia Regional Airport MO and 0.49 inch at Jefferson City Memorial Airport. Although lightning has been observed to south of Columbia city MO, there are no known reports of measurable rain within the city of Columbia MO, as of 3AM CDT or 08Z 7/09/2012. Elsewhere across Missouri, moderate drought(northwest, southwest), severe drought, extreme drought(southeast/bootheel) conditions persists across Missouri.
7/9/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Although 06Z to 08Z known rainfall amounts were 0.49 inch at Columbia Regional Airport MO and 0.80 inch at Jefferson City Memorial Airport MO plus few 2 to 3 inch storm total amounts few south central Missouri locales, other central Misoouri locales, including Columbia, locales to northwest, north, northeast received no measurable rainfall. So, moderate, severe, even extreme drought southeast/bootheel conditions persists outside of late night 7/08/2012/early morning 7/09/2012 rain areas.
7/10/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorm activity was very limited mainly northeast and southeast Missouri afternoon 7/10/2012. Short-term moderate drought, severe drought, extreme drought(souheast/bootheel) conditions persist for most areas of Missouri, outside south central.
7/11/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 The only known shower activity was over southwest Illinois and extreme northeast Missouri 7/11/2012. Since most of heavy rains that fell over south central Missouri late night 7/08/2012/very early morning 7/09/2012 has runoff and evaporated, moderate drought, severe drought, extreme drought(southeast/bootheel) conditions persists across Missouri 7/11/2012.
7/12/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Few light showers developed across west(include KCI)and northcentral Missouri early afternoon 7/12/2012. However, these showers moved south southeast and dissipated later afternoon. So, abnormally dry/moderate drought(northwest, west, southwest), severe drought, extreme drought (southeast/bootheel)conditions persist across Missouri.
7/13/2012 12:59 AM 0.07 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Relatively small MCC and associated scattered showers/few briefly heavy and few thunderstorms moved east northesst across central/south central Missouri early afternoon 7/13/2012. However, relief to severe drought stricken central Missouri locales varied. Besides 0.07 inch at Columbia 0.6 W, other known amounts were 0.05 inch at University of Missouri AES Sanborn Field, 0.02 inch at Columbia Regional Airport, 0 or trace at Jefferson City Memorial Airport, 0.54 inch at Sedalia Regional Airport, anomalous 0.62 inch at KMIZ Channel 17 network Columbia/Joe Machens BMW.
7/14/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Widely scatterred shower and isolated thunderstorm activity was confined to south cetral and southeast Missouri afternoon 7/14/2012, So, abnormally dry/moerate drought(west), severe drought, extreme drought(southeast/bootheel) conditions persist across Missouri.
7/15/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Although few cumulus humilis and SCT CI were present during afternoon 7/15/2012, there was no known shower activity across south central and southeast Missouri during afternoon 7/15/2012. Therefore, abnormally dry/moderate drought(west), severe drought, extreme drought(southeast/bootheel) conditions persist across Missouri.
7/16/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Isolated showers and thunderstorms developed over south central Missouri late afternoon 7/16/2012, moved southeast and dissipated by sunset, Hence, abnormally dry/moderate drought(west), severe drought, extreme drought(southeast/bootheel) conditions persist across Missouri.
7/17/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Isolated shower/thunderstorm developed early afternoon 7/17/2012 vicinity of Cape Girardeau MO; however, by sunset, the isolated activity had moved south and dissipated. Hence, abnormally dry/moderate drought(west), severe drought, extreme drought(southeast/bootheel) conditions persist across Missouri.
7/18/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Again, isolated light shower and thunderstorm activity devloped over southeast Missouri vicinity of Cape Girardeau MO afternoon 7/18/2012.However, as 7/17/2012, activity weaken, moved south southeast and dissipated by sunset 7/18/2012, Widely scattered showers and thunderstorms have developed along a weak cold front from northwest, north central Missouri, east Kansas 06Z 7/18/2012. KCI was reporting a thunderstorm at 07Z.7/19/2012. Elsewhere, abnormally dry/moderate drought, severe drought, extreme drought(southeast/bootheel) conditions persist across Missouri.
7/19/2012 12:59 AM 0.13 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Scatered showers and thunderstorms continue to move east southeast across central Missouri 09Z to 12Z 7/19/2012, along and ahead of a weak cold front. Although BKN SC OVC CS remained until 14-15Z, no more rain fell central/north Missouri after 13Z, DUE to rapid evaporation, moderate drought(southwest), severe drought, extreme drought(north central, southeast/bootheel) conditions persist by evening 7/19/2012.
7/20/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 FEW/SCT SC late morning/early afternoon and brisk northeast to east wind caused afternoon 7/20/2012 maximum temperatures to be 10 to 15 degrees cooler than 7/19/2012. Since weak cold front was well south of Missouri over south central Arkansas/north Mississippi afternoon 7/20/2012, there were no known reports of rainfall at reporting station locales. Hence, moderate drought(southwest), severe drought, extreme drought(north central, southeast/bootheel) conditions persist.
7/21/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 There were NO known shower/thunderstorm reports 7/21/2012 from Missouri station locales. Only SCT/BKN CI moved south southeast across north central, northeast, central, east central Missouri afternonn prior to dissipating, as maximum temperatures warmed again to 95F - 100F. Hence, moderate drought(southwest), severe drought, extreme drought(north central, southeast/bootheel)conditions persist across Missouri.
7/22/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 There were NO known reports of shower and/or thunderstorm activity in Missouri 7/22/2012. FEW AC/SCT CI moved south across central, northeast and east central Missouri late morning/early afternoon prior to dissipating late afternoon 7/22/2012 Hence, moderate drought(southwest/northwest), severe drought, extreme drought(north central, southeast/bootheel) conditions persist across Missouri.
7/23/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 High pressure aloft and associated CLR skies/HOT(100F to 108F) afternoon temperatures moved east across Missouri 7/23/2012, Hence, moderate drought(southwest, northwest), severe drought, extreme drought(north central, southeast/bootheel) conditions persist across Missouri.
7/24/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 FEW to SCT CU/CU Congestus developed early afternnon 7/24/2012 over mainly north and central sections of Missouri. Afternoon tempeeratures continued to range 100F to 108F!! By sunset, CU had dissipated and sky had become CLR. Hence, moderate drought(southwest, northwest), severe drought, extreme drought(north central, southeast/bootheel) conditions persist across Missouri.
7/25/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 FEW/SCT/FEW CU humulis, along with southwest to west winds 10 to 15mph gusts 20 to 25mph made afternoon 7/25/2012 102F to 108F temperatures more bearable. Although moderate drought(southwest, northwest), severe drought, extreme drought(north central, southeast/bootheel) conditions persist 7/25/2012, regional WSR-88D/Dual Polarization Image loops indicate that northwest/west Missouri is getting some drought/cooler temperature relief early morning 7/26/2012 and the shower/isolated thunderstorm activity is moving east toward central and northeast Missouri!!
7/26/2012 12:59 AM 0.45 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Scattered showers and thunderstorms developed ahead of notable cold front over west northwest Missouri 06Z - 07Z and movied east across central northeast Missouri 12Z - 13Z 7/26/2012. Rain associated with this cold frontal system were the heaviest to date July 26 2012 and brought temporary drought relief to locales that received notable rains. After partial clearing late morning, SCT SC/BKN to OVC AC developed early afternoon 7/26/2012 and traces of rain were observed at a few locales. By late afternoon, skies had become mostly CLR, allowing temperaturres to rise into low 90s most locales, altough dew points remained 69F t0 72F. Although early morning rains brought temporary relief to exctreme drought west and central Missouri and severe drought south central Missouri, where 0.50 to 1.00 inch amounts were recorded, soils were again being impacted by severe and extreme drought conditions in areas that received lesser amounts by sunset.
7/27/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Late morning/early afternoon BKN/SCT AC/ACCAS became CLR late afternoon, as notable cold front moved south southeast across central Missouri 7/27/2012. Although afternoon temperatures were low to mid 90s, dew points fell into the low to mid 60s, There were no known reports of additional measurable rainfall from north and central Missouri reporting locales. Hence, moderate drought(northwest, southwest), severe drought, extreme drought(north central, southeast/ bootheel)conditions persist across Missouri, as soil moisture evaporation negated the impact 7/26/2012 early morning rainfall.
7/28/2012 12:59 AM 0.03 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Aftermoon temperatures were mid to upper 90s and dew points were upper 50s to low 60s 7/28/2912. however, 0430Z to 0500Z Mcc and associate scattered showers and thunderstorms that developed over west central. south csntral Iowa began to move southeast across north central and central Missouri and continue after 06Z 7/29/2012.
7/29/2012 12:59 AM 0.36 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 According to regional WSR-88/Dual Polarization Image Loops, MCC and associate scattered showers continue to move southeast across south central Iowa, north central, northeast, into east central Missouri at 1259Z 7/29/2012. Locales receiving measurable rain are experiencing temporary drought relief. FEW to SCT AC/ACCAS late morning/early afternoon 7/29/2012 became FEW AC to CLR late afternoon, as temperatures rose 97F to 103F central and 101F to 107F west central and southwest.
7/30/2012 12:59 AM T 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Weak mid/upper troposphere disturbance associated with very light rain over north Missouri moved east southeast across central, east central, south central, southeast Missouri afteernoon 7/30/2012. Outside north Missouri, the only other known rainfall amounts were trace to perhaps 0.01 inch. HENCE, there was little relief from moderate drought(northwest, southwest), severe drought, extreme drought(north central to east central, southeast/bootheel)conditions.
7/31/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Scattered showers and thunderstorms moved southeast across southwest Missouri along and northeast of quasi-stationary front over northeast OK/northwest AR 7/31/2012. Otherwise, moderate drought(southwest-locales not receiving rain, northwest), severe drought, extreme drought(north central, southeast/bootheel) conditions persist, as afternoon temperatures were >100F/dewpoints 57F - 63F most Missouri locales.
8/1/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Few showers and isolated thunderstorms developed afternoon 8/01/2012 over south central/southeast Missouri. However, amounts were light and moved south southeast prior to dissipating by sunset, Otherwise afternoon temperatures were 99F - 105F and dew points 59F - 65F. Hence, moderate drought(southwest, northwest), severe drought, extreme drought(west central to east central, southeast/bootheel)conditions persist across Missouri.
8/2/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Weak mid/upper troposphere disturbances and associated SCT SC/BKN AC/OVC CS and scattered very light rain moved east across north and central sections of Missouri late morning/early afternoon 8/02/2012, Although trace to perhaps 0.04 inch rain was observed at a few locales, little relief from state-wide drought conditions was provided. Latest Drought Monitor/UNL released 8/02/2012 indicated extreme drought across Missouri except severe drought(northwest) and exceptional drought(southeast/bootheel).
8/3/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Although SCT to BKN AC/OVC CS prevailed early to late afternoon until evening across north and central Missouri 8/03/2012, there were no known reports of measurable rain. However, maximum temperatures 96F to 101F were reached very early afternoon. Hence, severe drought(northwest), extreme drought, exceptional drought(southeast/bootheel) conditions persist across Missouri.
8/4/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 8/4/2012 has seen one period of scattered showers and thunderstorms moved east across west central, south central, east central Missouri early morning and another period of scattered showers and thunderstorms move across southwest, south central, southeast, east central Missouri into west central and south central Illinois early morning 8/05/2012. 0.02 to 0.13 inch early morning 0.12 to 0.36 inch late night have brought temporary relief to affected extreme and exceptional(southeast)areas of Missouri and Illinois. However, although lightning was seen and thunder heard at Columbia 0.6 W and Columbia Regional Airport, not a drop was observed at Columbia 0.6 W and only a trace at Columbia Regional Airport MO. Further north Missouri, there have been no reports of rainfall either trace or measurable.
8/5/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Although 0.12 inch was reported 0930Z - 1030Z 8/05/2012 at Columbia Regional Airport, 0.18 inch Rolla National Airport, 0.01 at Jefferson City Memorial Airport and University of Missouri AES Sanborn Field, there was NO rain observed at Columbia 0.6 W. Since I did not see the pavement and/or grass moist vicinity of or no indication of drops that had fallen on the rain gauges, I mus report 0.00. However, temporary relif from rctreme drought was experienced at locales that did receive notable rain fall, including Lambert Saint Louis International Airport MO where at late night 8/04/2012 total of 0.35 inch was recorded!
8/6/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 There was no known rainfall across Missouri 8/06/2012. There only clouds observed were FEW CI over east and southeast sections, Hence, moderate drought(northwest), extreme drought, exceptional drought(southeast/bootheel) conditions persist. Missouri drought conditions were enhanced 8/6/2012 by afternoon temperatures 95F to 101F and afternoon dew points 45F to 55F, after early morning minimums 62F to 68F.
8/7/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 8/07/2012 afternoon temperatures range 101F to 108F, dewpoints range 48F to 55F and RHs range 18% to 25%. Sky CLR until middle afternoon when SCT/BKN CI moved south southeast across north central, central Missouri ahead of scattered shower/isolated thunderstorm activity of southwest Iowa. Scattered shower/isolated thunderstorm acivity continues to move east across south central Iowa/Missouri-Iowa border early morning 8/08/2012. Hence, severe drought(northwest), extreme drought, exceptional drought(southeast/bootheel) conditions persist.
8/8/2012 12:59 AM 0.02 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Small areas of scattered very light rain and isolated thunderstorms moved east along I-70 8PM to 10PM CST 8/08/2012, continuing until 07Z or 1AM CST 8/09/2012 east central Missouri, west central Illinois. Besides 0,02 inch at Columbia 0.6 W, other known evening.late night amounts are 0.31 inch at Jefferson City Memorial Airport, 0.01 inch at Rolla National Airport, 0.02 inch at Sedalia Regional Airport, 0.47 inch Lambert Saint Louis International Airport. So, some temporary drought relief, especially Cole Coumty MO and Saint Louis MO metropolis, Otherwise, severe drought(northwest), extreme drought, exceptional drought(southeast/bootheel) conditions persist.
8/9/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 8/09/2012 sky condition was SCT to FEW SC to CLR. The only reports of rainfall were 06Z to 07Z from east central Missouri. Hence, severe drought(northwest), extreme drought, exceptional drought(small sections west, south central, southeast/bootheel) conditions persiat across Missouri.
8/10/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Although afternoon temperatures and dew points were markedly cooler(80F - 86F and 51F - 55F), WSR-88D Regional Image Loops indicated that NO rainfall occurred across Missouri 8/10/2012, Hence, severe drought(northwest/north central), extreme drought, exceptional drought(west/near MO/KS border, southeast/south central/bootheeel) conditions persist. Sky was SCT to FEW SC late morning/afternoon. In fact, 8/10/2012 was the first day since 6/21/2012 the maximum was less than 90F at Columbia 0.6 W!!
8/11/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 SCT to FEW CI late morning/afternoon, afternoon temperatures upper 80s to low 90s and dew point temperatures upper 40s to mid 50s were dominate weather conditions 8/11/2012. So, severe drought northwest/north central), extreme drought, exceptional drought(west near MO/KS border, southeast/bootheel, south central) conditions persist. However, scattered light rain/very light rain associated with a middle troposphere disturbance is moving east across southwest MN, west IA, northwest/north central MO early morning 8/12/2012.
8/12/2012 12:59 AM 0.06 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Middle troposphere disturbances and associated scattered very light rain continue to move east across central/east Iowa, west/central Missouri early morning 8/12/2012. Although scattered very light/ light rain had moved into west central Illinois by 17Z or 11AM CST, SCT SC/BKN AC remain into the late afternoon, so temperatues were able to rise only 85F to 89F. A small but more intense disturbance moved along/south of I-70 2130 to 2230CST 8/12/2012, However, there was no known measurable rain in Columbia MO. Known reports of measurable rain include Jefferson City Memorial Airport 0.04 inch and Lambert Saint Louis International Airport 0.12 inch - 06Z to 07Z.
8/13/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 BKN to OVC SC moved south southeast across north and central into south central, east cemtral, southeast Missouri early to late morning 8/13/2012. The OVC SC and northwest to north wind 5 to 15mph prevented afternoon maximum temperatures from reaching 80F for the first time since 6/01/2012. Although ceiling rose from OVC 1000 to OVC 4000, NO known rainfall was observed at any Missouri reporting locales. Although NO known rainfall was observed, drought conditions were alleviated by markedly reduced solar radiation and lower evaporation of soil moisture.
8/14/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Weak mid/upper troposphere disturbances and associated BKN to SCT AC/OVC CS moved east southeast across central and south sections of Missouti along and south of I-70 morning to late afternoon 8/14/2012. Even 0.01 inch of rain was recorded at Sedalia MO Memorial Airport and 0.03 inch at Osage Beach MO early afternoon 8/24/2012. BKN AC/OVC CS kept late morning afternoon temperatures in low to mid 70s until AC became SCT to FEW and CS BKN to SCT late afternoon, allowing afternoon temperatures to rise upper 70s to low 80s. Missouri state-wide drought conditions continue to be alleviated by much below afternoon temperatures, in spite of lack of general rainfall.
8/15/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 CLR skies, afternoon dew points 55F to 65F, southeast/south winds 5-15mph allow 8/13/2012 afternoon temperatures to again rise 93F to 98F. There were no know reports shower and thunderstorm activity across the middle Mississippi and Missouri Valleys 8/15/2012, However, a relatively small MCC and associated scattered showers and thundertorms is moving east across west central Iowa early morning 8/16/2012. Hence, severe drought(northwest, north central), extreme drought, exceptional drought (south central, southeast/bootheel) conditions persist across Missouri.
8/16/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Notable cold front moved across central/east central Missouri 18Z - 20Z 8/16/2012. Scattered showers and thunderstorms devloped along/ahead of the cold front and moved east southeast across south central, east central, southwest and southeast Missouri later afternoon. However, locales along/north of I-70, west of Sedalia MO received trace amounts, if any rain. Afternoon 8/16/2012 known amounts are trace at Columbia Regional Airport, 0.02 inch at Sedalia Regional Airport, 0.03 inch at Jefferson City Memorial Airport, trace at Rolla National Airport, 0.26 inch at Farmington Regional Airport, 0.10 inch at Osage Beach/Lake of the Ozarks MO and 0.51 inch at Lambert Saint Louis International Airport MO. US Drought Monitor released 8/16/2012 showed that exceptional drought had moved east from central Kansas across west MO, include metro Kansas City, into west and central Boone County MO.
8/17/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 FEW CI late morning /early afternoon became CLR and remained CLR late after, evening , night to early morning 8/18/2012. However, lack of additional rain and afternnon dew points upper 30s to mid 40s were important parameters in maintenance of drought conditions across Missouri. Hence, severe drought (northwest to north central), extreme drought, exceptional drought(southeast/bootheel, south central, southwest, west into central Boone county) conditions persist.
8/18/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Weak middl/upper troposphere disturbance that was strong enough to produce and maintain BKN AC/OVC CS late afternoon, evening, night 8/18/2012, continuing early morning 8/19/2012. Even very light rain or "sprinkles" have been reported at a few locles. Although mid/upper troposphere remain quite moist, as indicated be BKN AC/OVC CS, the lower troposphere continues relatively dry, so only trace amounts are being reported at locales, receiving rain. Although alleviated by cooler late afternoon/evening temperatures, severe drought(northwest, north central), extreme drought, exceptional drought(southeast/bootheel, south central, southwest, west into central Boone county) conditions persist.
8/19/2012 12:59 AM T 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Although Trace amount, as indicated below, occurred prior to 7AM CDT, I did not have time to send another report, since Fall semester 2012 at University of Missouri begins 8/20/2012 and I was too busy by 7AM 8/19/2012 to send another report. However, in spite of afternoon dew points 45F to 50F, cooler afternoon temperatures helped alleviate severe drought(northwest, north central), EXTREME drought, exceptional drought(southeast/bootheel, south central, southwest, west into Boone county) conditions across Missouri 8/19/2012, Additionally, very light rain and much below normal afternoon temperatures occurred Cape Girardeau MO 8/19/2012.
8/20/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 SCT CU/BKN SC developed late morning/early afternoon across central and east central Missouri 8/20/2012, becoming FEW CU/FEW SC late afternoon/evening; however, there were no known reports of rainfall. Hence, severe drought(northwest, north central), extreme drought, exceptional drought(southeast/bootheel, southcentral, southwest, west into Boone county Missouri) conditions persist, although alleviated somewhat by north to northeast winds and cooler(relative to early August) afternoon temperatures.
8/21/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Again, SCT to FEW CU developed late morning/early afternoon, mainly across central and east Missouri. However, sky became CLR by late afternoon/evening and there were no reports of rainfall from any station locales. Abundant sunshine and afternoon relative humidities 17% to 27% maintained severe drought(northwest, north central), extreme drought, exceptional drought(southeast/bootheel, southwest, west into central Boone county) conditions across Missouri.
8/22/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Again, there were no reports of rainfall from Missouri station locales 8/22/2012. Only FEW CU/SCT CI appeared afternoon becoming FEW CI evening/night. Abundant sunshine, afternoon relative humidities 15% - 23% and afternoon maximum temperatures 98F to 100F maintained severe drought(northwest, north central), extreme drought, exceptional drought(southeast/bootheel, southwest, west into central Boone county) conditions across Missouri. New weekly US drought monitor due 8/23/2012.
8/23/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Again. FEW CU/SCT CI appeared afternoon 8/23/2012; however, there were no known reports of rainfall. Afternoon relative humidites 18% to 26%, abundant sunshine, maximum temperatures 96F to 99F maintained severe drought northwest, extreme drought, exceptional drought southeastbootheel, southwest, west into central Boone county conditions across Missouri. However, latest GFS runs continue to offer relief Saturday night, Sunday, Sunday night!!!
8/24/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Although BKN to SCT AC was present throughout the day 8/24/2012, there were no reports of rainfall until very light/light rain began to fall over extreme northwest/west Missouri 06Z to 07Z 8/25/2012. The rainfall is moving north northeast. Hence, severe drought northwest, extreme drought, exceptional drought southeast/bootheel, southwest, west into central Boone county conditions persist across Missouri 8/24/2012. However, latest GFS model runs continue to indicate that there will be relief 8/25/2012 night, 8/26/2012.
8/25/2012 12:59 AM T 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Rainfall amounts around the state of Missouri 8/25/2012 range from TRACE to 0.05 - 0.10 inch, 0.25 to 0.50 inch. However, more significant drought relief is expected during the day 8/26/2012 and 8/26/2012 night into morning 8/27/2012.
8/26/2012 12:59 AM 0.30 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 I apologize for this late report. However, due to system virus, CenturyLink internet services were unavailable from 08Z/3AM CDT until 23Z/6PM CDT 8/27/2012.

Hence, severe drought(northwest), extreme drought, exceptional drought(southeast/bootheel, southwest, west into central Boone county)conditions persist. However, GFS model runs and HPC extended QPF continue to offer significant relief, especially southeast/bootheel and east central Missouri for 8/31/2012 night and 9/01/2012, as remnants of Issac move north northeast across lower into middle Mississippi valleys and central Illinois.
8/28/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 CLR/FEW CU to CLR, afternoon relative humidities 24% to 34% were main parameters for afternoon maximum temperatures 96F to 100F. Hence, severe drought(northwest), extreme drought, exceptional drought(southeast/bootheel, southwest, west into central Boone county)conditions persists. However, latest GFS model runs and HPC QPF continue to indicate significant drought relief 8/31/2012 night, 9/01/2012, 9/01/2012 night due to remnants of Hurricane Issac!!
8/29/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 CLR skies/afternoon relative humidties 21% to 31% allowed 8/29/2012 maximum temperatures to again rise 95F to 100F. Hence, severe drought(northwest), extreme drought. exceptional drought(southeast, southwest, west into central Boone county)conditions persist. Since latest GFS model runs and HPC QPF continue to indicate marked drought relief for Missouri, due to remnants of Tropical ISSAC, 8/31/2012 afternoon/night and 9/01/2012, 8/30/2012 US Drought Monitor should be the last for summer 2012 to indicate severe, extreme and exceptional drought conditions for not only Missouri but Illinois, also!!
8/30/2012 12:59 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 CLR skies, afternoon relative humidities 19% to 29% again enabled maximum temperatures to reach 98F to 104F 8/30/2012, Hence, severe drought(northwest), extreme drought, exceptional drought(southeast/bootheel, southwest, west into central Boone county)conditions persist 8/30/2012 acoss Missoouri. However, regional WSR-88D Image Loops early morning 8/31/2012 indicate that light/moderate rain is moving north across southeast/southcentral Missouri associated with the remnants of former tropical storm ISSAC. 2 - 3 inches of rain are expected by Saturday evening 9/01/2012 across central Missouri.
8/31/2012 12:59 AM 2.05 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Rain associated with the remnants of Tropical Depression ISSAC began moving north across central Missouri morning 8/31/2012. Although most of the rain was light, there have been periods of moderate, occasionally heavy rain, providing drought relief to most sections of Missouri. Record 8/31/2012 rainfall totals were received many Missouri station locales!!
9/1/2012 12:59 AM 0.38 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 After low/mid troposphere disturbances associated with early morning 9/01/2012 rain moved east, low troposphere disturbances were associated with development more light/very rain that moved across central/east central Missouri late afternoon, evening, night 9/01/2012. Late afternoon, evening, night totals were generally 0.10 inch to 0.25 inch. 8/31/2012 and 9/01/2012 rains have provided significant drought relief to those Missouri locales, receiving greater than 1.00 inch.
9/2/2012 12:59 AM T 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Scattered very light rain associated with weak low troposphere disturbances continued to move south southwest across central /east central Missouri early morning 9/02/2012. Only trace to perhaps 0.01 inch amounts were recorded over central Missouri while 0.05 inch to 0.10 inch amounts were recorded over east central Missouri, As skies became CLR late afternoon, temperatures rose 84F to 87F. Evidence still remains that topsoil moisture has been replenished by 8/31/2012 and 9/01/2012 rains.
