A most welcome rain and my records show it to be the largest amount in one 24 hour period for the entire year at my location! 1.65 inches, which in most years would barely be in the top 10! At 7am - Mostly cloudy... can see some stars through breaks in the clouds. Windy with NW wind 20-25 mph with gusts 30-35, temperature 38F, overnight low temperature 36F. Yesterday - Cloudy with rain beginning at around 2pm then continuing through the afternoon, evening, and overnight. The rain was heavy at times, but it was mostly light to moderate. South wind 5-10 mph switching to the North with a Cold Frontal Passage just before 2pm. The North wind then increased to 15-20 mph with gusts 25-30, becoming NW in the late evening and increasing to gusts of 35 mph overnight. High temperature of 63F occurred around midday and dropped 10 degrees in the first hour after the Cold Frontal passage.

At 7am - Mostly cloudy... the darkest clouds are to the southeast where the outer rain band from former Hurricane Isaac is about 50 miles away, NE wind 5-10 mph, temperature 72F. Yesterday - Sunny and hot, south wind 5-10 mph becoming east 5-10 mph in the late afternoon. High temperature 100F. 24 hour low temperature 68F. Much needed rain is on the way as the center of Isaac is in northwest Arkansas and is expected to move N-NE toward central Missouri today. |

It has been raining almost non-stop for over 21 hours thanks to the remnants of Hurricane Isaac. Isaac continues to spin over Missouri and will be slow to move out, so the most welcome rain continues, although a Flood Advisory is now in effect for the KC Metro area. 4.92 inches of rain so far! The rain has been heavy at times with the heaviest rain falling overnight. Windy yesterday and overnight... NE 15-20 mph with gusts 25-30 yesterday, and north 15-20 mph with gusts 25-30 overnight... some early morning gusts nearing 40 mph. Current 7am temperature 68F, high temperature yesterday 77F, 24 hour low temperature 68F. |

The last drop of rain fell at 5:20pm yesterday.... after raining continuously for nearly 32 hours! An amazing rain event that won't bring back the thousands of trees that have succumbed with this Summer's drought, or the corn burnt up in the fields; but it is a great start to get much needed moisture back into the soil. Yesterday's total precipitation of 1.52 inches added to the prior days total of 4.92 gave us 6.44 inches of rain from the remnants of Hurricane Isaac. And with all this rain, there was no flooding. The rain was continuous, but never too heavy to not soak into the ground, and most of it did. And how quickly the grass... brown since early June.... is starting to show a tinge of green! The current 7am temperature is 63F, which is also the overnight low. The high temperature yesterday 71F. |

Clear and calm at 7am, heavy dew and patchy ground fog, temperature 65F. Yesterday - Sunny and hot, light north wind, high temperature 91F, 24 hour low temperature 63F. The local lakes and reservoirs have filled nicely.... thanks to Isaac. Water continues to fall over the Prairie Lea Lake spillway which feeds Lake Jacomo... which is less than a foot from reaching the top of it's spillway. We haven't seen this in quite some time. The lake at Legacy Park, which showed much of its mud bottom just a few days ago... is now bank full. A beautiful sunrise.... a huge reddish-orange ball! |

Overnight - lightning observed to the northwest around 11:30pm, and a period of strong gusty wind around that time as well with the highest gust 40-45 mph out of the north... a brief shower around midnight.
