Every 2-3 minutes you can hear a "crack" as a tree branch or top breaks off from the weight of the snow and ice. At observation time the temperature was 31.6 deg., calm and a fine drizzle of rain. Overcast with visibility about 1 mile.

Visibility about 2 miles. The gauge was coated with ice and icicles and half the contents was frozen. Took many minutes to unthaw with a hairdryer. About 0.2" of ice on the snowboard.

Core SWE done at 5 PM. 1/8" to 1/4" of ice under the snow on the snowboard not melted; it pre-existed the snowfall. Temperature at 9 PM was about 23 deg. About 3 AM wind picked up and much crashing and cracking was heard and this continues as snow and ice and limbs fall from the trees. Temperature at 5 AM was 31 deg. and by about 7 AM had reached 36 deg. Rain began falling sometime in the wee hours, however at observation time only the occasional drop was felt. Currently 34 deg. with intermittent winds and an overcast sky. Mount Hood obscured as well as the higher elevations of the west hills.

Damage to tops of deciduous trees is extensive. Intermittent very light rain yesterday morning with rain and snow showers in the afternoon. At Observation Time, it was 31 deg. and calm with an overcast sky with a ceiling of about 3000'. Thirty minutes later, it is snowing and the ceiling has dropped to about 1800' with visibility around 2 miles.
