Yesterday I recorded a heavy rime on the instrument. Throughout the day we had sunshine and near cloudless conditions. This AM there was 0.02" of water in the graduated cylinder.
I see no signs of overnight rain on grass, streets or porch. Therefore, I am assuming the 0.02" is derived from the prior night's rime, but I do not know so it goes in as read. |

They had some pine needles mixed in the "ice", indicating they came from the roof. A search of the property failed to uncovered more. T was in mid-60s so I am assuming there was a hail storm prior to my arrival. No hail or other ice-"storms" were encountered on the road home, nor was there a mention of hail in today's AM paper. |
