The first reading was made by taking "snow cookies" from solid surfaces with the big cylinder and then melting the contents.That produced 0.63 inches of water Measuring with a ruler gave wildly different values only inches apart because it was melting from the bottom up as it fell. Areas under big trees got almost no snow on the ground because it was held by the tree leaves. Lots of bending and broken branches. Hard cold areas like fence rails piled up more snow. Black top had less because the ground is not frozen. Precip varied from big fat flakes to rain and everything between with precip during hours from 11Am Saturday until well into the night. Another gauge, without funnel or inner tube yielded 1.14inches of water when it was melted.
