5:38 pm - a blasted NWS weather alert made the airwaves. Thanks for including the Allsbrook community. As I took it for me to be ready.
Lightning, some thunder, winds and rains afar off encircling the community, but not within.
7:34 pm a few cold drops and lots of warm wind.
8:00 pm power went out for a few seconds. The TV comes back on with Lisa Simpson saying "Power's Out".
8:04 pm - Power goes off for a few more seconds. TV comes back on with Homer Simpson praying.
8:20 pm - 0.01 in rain gauge.
9:00 pm - no wind, no rain.
9:34 pm - wind picking up, the slowing down.
9:45 pm - rain drops, lightning.
9:51 pm - raining hard.
9:58 pm - rains slowing down.
10:00 pm - 0.05 in rain gauge.
7:00 am - 0.08 from overnight rains ...

Heard a Weather Alert on WSTS FM around 6:28 pm. I'm glad that this station has these alerts. As some of the Myrtle Beach radio stations seem to deem these alerts as a waste of air apace, advertising dollars, in lieu of the same old boring classic rock songs.
(I did not listen to these songs back in 1974 and I won't now in 2012.)
I almost feel that people along the Grand Strand will die in case of a major catastrophe because of the radio executives worship of the almighty dollar.
Anyways, heard the report as I drove towards Allsbrook and saw the clouds on the background.
But I digress ........

0.03 , lasted for about ten minutes. Coming home into the development I saw that the Gate Keeper (what we call him in the first house) had watered his golf course manicured lawn. The street was dry except for his runoff.
It's only two blocks from my rescued every plant in the area looking lawn. (I got more butterflies than the Gate Keeper.) As I approached I noticed that the street was wet. Looking even wetter the nearer I got.

A Slug was found at the bottom of the rain gauge.
Two days ago in the inner chamber that is for overflow. Today inside the gauge itself.
All I could find in a search was this mathematical problem: The default value of Specific Gas constant is R = 1716 ft.lb/slug.
I hope that assists with whatever.
Can you imagine what the song by the Weather Girls would be if "It's Raining Slugs, Hallelujah"
It'd be played on the Dr. Demento Show always.
Maybe tomorrow I'll find a Badger, or whatever ... |
