Observation Date Observation Time Precipitation Snowfall Snowfall SWE Snow Depth Snow SWE Notes
10/1/2011 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 high Friday 70, overnight low/7am temp 46; BR-R-R-R-R-R! It's gonna be like this for a couple more days, they say.
10/2/2011 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 high Saturday 57, overnight low/7am temp 44; BR-R again, and once more into the forties for tonight before a warm-up. Did not notice any frost; there are no cars that I can see parked outside here, which are often the first places where it can be found.
10/3/2011 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 high Sunday 64, overnight low/7am temp 44; once again, I did not see any frost here today, either. Prediction is for 70 today, 75 tomorrow and near 80 on Wednesday. Apparently the low's in the 40's will, however, be with us for a little longer, as the warm-up will be slower for the nighttime. If you were hoping for some rain in the next week to ten days, you might as well forget about it, as it looks to be clear and dry that whole time. Sorry 'bout that.
10/4/2011 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 high Monday 70, overnight low/7am temp 47; mostly rooftop level fog at sunrise, sometimes dipping down to ground level but not particularly dense in either case so far. Forecasts still call for no rain for all the coming week, so if you're putting out grass seed, you will need to water it.
10/5/2011 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 high Tuesday 76, overnight low/7am temp 51; one weather forecaster says 23% chance of rain Sunday, but another says there is no real shot at precip before a week from today. They're already comparing this to some of the driest Octobers on record locally.
10/6/2011 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 high Wednesday 80, overnight low/7am temp 53; consensus forecasts now calling for chance of rainfall on Tuesday with greater odds for greater amount the following day. Until then we may see some clouds, but precip unlikely.
10/7/2011 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 high Thursday 80 here (it reportedly was 83 at airport), overnight low/7am temp 55; should be nice fall weather for the Vols' football game tomorrow evening. TV meteorologists are still saying our best chance of rain in two weeks will be on this coming Tuesday and especially on Wednesday, when significant precip amount is expected. I certainly hope they're right on both.
10/8/2011 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 high Friday 80, overnight low/7am temp 53; DENSE FOG as well as heavy dew, visibility LESS THAN 100 yards. Must be getting some more humid air coming into the area. It has gotten close enough for TV meteorologists to slap a number on the rain chances for this Tuesday and Wednesday, and they are 50% and 40% respectively. I, for one, hope they're being conservative on that, because we surely could use some precip right about now.
10/9/2011 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 high Saturday 78, overnight low/7am temp 56; as an aside it was only 77 at the airport yesterday. Consensus of TV meteorologists has somewhat lower chances of rain for us on Tuesday and Wednesday (and now Thursday): 20% to 30%. While we're still ahead for the year, it's been about two weeks since we had any measurable precip, so we certainly could use some rain, please and thank you very much. UPDATE: thermometer has now dropped to 55.

12/28/2011 7:00 AM 0.25 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 high Tuesday 47, overnight low 32; supposed to be 44 today, 27 tonight, followed by mid-50's highs and mid-30's lows for the rest of the week. But watch out for next week, when it's expected to turn colder.
12/29/2011 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 high Wednesday 51, overnight low 29; it warmed up more than expected yesterday, so maybe that means that it will make it to the mid-50's today, maybe? Anyway, the forecast for the next few days is mid-50's/mid-30's.
12/30/2011 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 high Thursday 56, overnight low/7am temp 40; big change coming in the weather after Sunday: by Tuesday the high will be barely above freezing. Doesn't look like it will last very long though, just an introduction to winter.
12/31/2011 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 high Friday 62, overnight low/7am temp 43; looks like it may warm up as fast or faster today than yesterday, even though the morning TV meteorologist (the only one that I could find on Saturday), says the high will be only 55. Big cooldown coming with lows in the teens on both Monday and Tuesday nights, and Tuesday's high may barely (if at all?) make it above freezing, they say. Today would be a good time to bring your hoses in, and put insulated covers on your outside faucets, and do any other winterizing steps such as caulking.
1/1/2012 7:00 AM 0.05 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 high Saturday 63, overnight low 35, 7am temp 41; should reach 58 this afternoon, 25 tonight, 38 tomorrow, 18 tomorrow night, 30 Tuesday, 18 Tuesday night, then a gradual warming trend to next weekend. Happy New Year.
1/2/2012 7:00 AM 0.28 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 high Sunday 61, overnight low/7am temp 29; good shower(s) yesterday morning and right up to lunchtime, and then it cleared up completely as if on a schedule. Teens tonight and tomorrow night with high below 32. If you haven't already, you've still barely got time to winterize your house or car for this hard freeze if you get busy now.
1/3/2012 7:00 AM T T T T T high Monday 44, overnight low/7am temp 23; high only 30 or 32 today, then down to teens tonight. Next couple of days the highs will be in the mid-40's and lows in the mid-20's, followed by a warming trend to the weekend. The Trace reported above was from a short snow shower yesterday afternoon, too little and/or too ephemeral to measure.
1/4/2012 7:00 AM T T T T T high Tuesday 33, overnight low/7am temp 23; trace above was not much more than scattered snowflakes coming down yesterday morning. Supposed to reach the 40's today and then down to the 20's tonight; warmer later in the week.
1/5/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 high Wednesday 48, overnight low 29; supposed to be just a couple of degrees warmer today with about the same tonight as last night, then warming up into mid-50's for the rest of the week, with lows mostly in the 30's.
1/6/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 high Thursday 58, overnight low/7am temp 29; high today is supposed to be 60, then lows in low-to-mid 40's and highs in mid-to-upper 50's until the next rain arrives on Wednesday and brings colder temperatures.
1/7/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 high Friday 64, overnight low/7am temp 48; supposed to be around 60 again today, with a good chance of some rain showers. Another good chance of rain Monday and a stronger chance on Wednesday as a cold front arrives.
1/8/2012 7:00 AM 0.63 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 high Saturday 62, overnight low/7am temp 47; no precip falling at this time, but TV forecasters say there is a chance for some scattered rain showers today, followed by a greater chance tomorrow, then a strong chance on Wednesday ushering in colder temperatures.
1/9/2012 7:00 AM 0.39 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 high Sunday 51, overnight low/7am temp 45; just a little mist falling at Observation Time, but there is a chance of some more rain today in addition to the 1.02 inch(es) we have gotten in the past 48 hours. More importantly, a cold front that will be bringing a sharp drop in temperatures starting Thursday night is also supposed to bring measurable rain on Wednesday.
1/10/2012 7:00 AM 0.09 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 high Monday 50, overnight low/7am temp 44; south wind brought warmer air into the evening and 100% humidity. Nice temperatures today, and again tomorrow (with an inch or so of rain), but colder air arrives later Thursday, with even the possibility of flurries. Then some wintry readings on Friday, which will be followed by a pretty slow warming trend. In other words, after Wednesday it'll be more like a typical January.
1/11/2012 7:00 AM 0.27 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 high Tuesday 52, overnight low 45; periods of heavy rain today with scattered T-storms and possibly even hail, high 60. Rain ending later tonight, low 42; high 53 Thursday but frozen precip arriving for Thursday night with a low of 24 and high Friday only 36 with a wind chill of 15
1/12/2012 7:00 AM 0.71 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 high Wednesday 59, overnight low/7am temp 46; the worst part of the storm yesterday mid-afternoon missed here, but the Kroger in Bearden really got a rather lengthy downpour along with a good bit of thunder and lightning. High today 50 around midday then falling temps start to usher in much colder weather including some frozen precip by tonight. Some snow accumulation seems likely, but forecasters say less than 2 inches. Low in low to mid 20's with single digit wind chills, then the high tomorrow will be barely above freezing.
1/13/2012 7:00 AM 0.13 0.1 T 0.1 T sorry, no hi/lo or other tidbits today due to a funeral of a relative that I need to attend.
1/14/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 T T high Friday only 30 degrees F., overnight low/7am temp 26. Looks like it'll get up to about 40 today, so some of that leftover snow ought to melt in the sunshine that is already starting to put in an appearance. Actually, most of the snow on the ground and roofs (and all on pavement) has already melted, but not the stubborn layer on our deck over 8 feet up in the air.
1/15/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 high Saturday 46, overnight low/7am temp 29; today should be a lot like yesterday and tomorrow just a little warmer as clouds start to move in, then a good chance of some rain Monday night and on into Tuesday. Snow was all melted by early yesterday afternoon.
1/16/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 high Sunday 51, overnight low/7am temp 29; odds are up to 70% for rain tonight and/or tomorrow, with somewhat warmer temperatures as that happens, then colder again on Wednesday followed by gradual warming to the weekend.
1/17/2012 7:00 AM 0.02 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 high Monday 56, overnight low 45, 7am temp 52; looks like the rainy forecast odds came true after all, with rain here now and expected to stay for most of the day. Supposed to be quite a bit colder tomorrow than today.
1/18/2012 7:00 AM 0.41 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 high Tuesday 60, overnight low 29, 7am temp 32; some frozen rain on top of grill, but precip in rain gauge is not frozen, which means I didn't have to melt it first. High today predicted to be 41, but low to mid 50's for tomorrow and Friday, then near 60 on weekend. Lows in 20's for a couple of nights, then warming up.
1/19/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 daytime high Wednesday 40 (may have been higher right after midnight), overnight low/7am temp 26; supposed to reach low to mid 50's today and tomorrow, and near 60 on Saturday and Sunday, with 100% rain chance Saturday that is expected to produce one to two inches.
1/20/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 daytime high Thursday 44, overnight low 30, 7am temp 37; clouds kept temperature down yesterday, looks like they might do it again today. Still projecting 100% chance of rain tomorrow, with amounts in the 1 to 2 inch range.
1/21/2012 8:30 AM 0.67 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 daytime high Friday 51, overnight low 44, 7am temp 51; we had a solid hour of thunder and lightning starting about 7 am and lasting till well after 8 am, with only a little rain during that time. Now, however, the rain has picked back up, so we might make it to that forecast of one to two inches today after all.
1/22/2012 7:00 AM 0.18 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 high Saturday 54, overnight low/7am temp 42; yesterday's rain gauge reading was at 8:30 due to the T-storms, so today's amount covers a little less than 24 hours. Rain event total at this location was 0.85 inches; it all fell in less than 24 hours, but it was split into parts of two different observation days.
1/23/2012 7:00 AM 1.21 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 daytime high Sunday 56, 7am temp 50 (may be overnight low also but can't be sure due to human error); we did not get any T-storms here despite severe T-storm watch broadcast by my SAM-E Weather Radio at about 2:50 a.m.
1/24/2012 7:00 AM 0.27 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 daytime high Monday 65, overnight low/7am temp 39; 2-day rain event total 1.48 inches. Also two systems/events in the last 4 days have left a combined 2.33" in rainfall. It's been a pretty wet (& warm) start to the year so far.
1/25/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 daytime high Tuesday 62, overnight low/7am temp 36; we have a small chance of a little rain today but one TV meteorologist went so far as to say a 100% chance of significant rainfall tomorrow, possibly an inch or more.
1/26/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 daytime high Wednesday 64, overnight low/7am temp 46; some showers are predicted for today, and heavy rain is likely tonight. Our deck was wet this morning, but the rain gauge was dry, so it had to be just condensation.
1/27/2012 7:00 AM 0.51 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 daytime high Thursday 62, overnight low/7am temp 44; weak reinforcing cold front coming will make it colder for the weekend, but not too drastically so. It will also bring a slight chance of a scattered shower.
1/28/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M lots of frost, especially heavy on the roof
1/29/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 daytime high Saturday 60, overnight low/7am temp 28; a lot of frost again this morning, especially on the roof but also secondarily on the deck with less noticeable amounts on the grass and other areas near the ground.
1/30/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 daytime high Sunday 53, overnight low/7am temp 29; it will be warmer mid-week, with a decent chance of some rain Wednesday night into Thursday. January should wrap up with a total precip of 5.82 inches for the month.
1/31/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 hi/lo 63/31, light frost this morning; rain expected tomorrow night, possibly half an inch or thereabouts
2/1/2012 7:00 AM T 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 daytime high Tuesday 67, overnight low 46; rain falling as I write this comment, it got here sooner than it was predicted as little as 9 or 10 hours ago on late TV news
2/2/2012 7:00 AM 0.98 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 daytime high Wednesday 52, overnight low/7am temp 51; one of the, if not the, smallest hi/lo difference(s) I've ever seen. Just a touch of fog in the air. Next good chance of rain is Saturday. Happy Groundhog Day.
2/3/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 daytime high Thursday 67, overnight low/7am temp 39; next good chance for rain is tomorrow, with additional precip possible on Sunday and/or Monday
2/4/2012 7:00 AM 0.04 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 daytime high Friday 60, overnight low/7am temp 46; highs in mid-50's for the next several days, with low tonight a cloud-assisted 49, then falling into the 30's after that for nearly a week. Still no sign of wintry precip.
2/5/2012 7:00 AM 0.41 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 daytime high Saturday 49, overnight low 48, 7am temp 52; yes, that's right, the thermometer rose during the night just like the TV meteorologist predicted that it would. Moderate fog now, visibility estimated at 0.25 mile.
2/6/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 daytime high Sunday 62, overnight low/7am temp 43; low didn't make it into the 30's as earlier predicted, may just be another instance of how much warmer than usual this winter has been so far. It's not over yet, though.
2/7/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 daytime high Monday 59, overnight low 29; lots of frost on just about everything, also some patchy fog with visibility as little as 0.25 mile in certain spots. Forecast is for near 60 this afternoon but only around 50 for the next several days, low 36 tonight but back down to at or below freezing for the next several nights.
2/8/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 daytime high Tuesday 60, overnight low 39, 7am temp 42; highs around 50 till the weekend then mid-40s, lows near 30 until about 20 Sunday and Monday morning. Best odds for rain is predicted to be on Tuesday. Supposedly some light showers in the area, but we are not seeing any sign of them here (yet?).
2/9/2012 7:00 AM T 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 daytime high Wednesday 51, overnight low/7am temp 36; highs in 50s and lows in 30s through Friday, then colder with highs in 30s and lows in teens for the weekend plus the possibility of some snow showers for parts of the area.
2/10/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 daytime high Thursday 50, overnight low 29; heavy frost. Some rain tonight, with slight possibility of flurries. There is a greater chance of some snow showers tomorrow, but the best odds are not in the Tennessee River valley.
2/11/2012 7:00 AM T 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 daytime high Friday 46, overnight low 29; daytime high today is only predicted to be 31 and high Sunday 36, lows in mid-to-upper teens both tonight and tomorrow night. Some flurries this morning, but no forecast accumulation.
2/12/2012 7:00 AM T T T T T daytime high Saturday 32, overnight low/7am temp 18; the trace reported above was morning snow flurries that came close to covering parts of our deck with a rather thin layer of flakes, but it just didn't last long enough.
2/13/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Sorry, but my hi/lo is hereby discontinued because of irreconcilable differences between my two thermometers, and I don't know which (if either) of them is correct. Maybe I should go get a third one? I'll think about it.
2/14/2012 7:00 AM 0.02 M M M M The county transportation department put brine and/or salt on a lot of roads yesterday afternoon, for all the good it did. Wonder where they got their forecast from that made them overreact so?

2/19/2012 8:00 AM 0.11 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 light rain falling at observation time this morning
2/20/2012 7:00 AM 0.91 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Had to thaw out the gauge before reading; also had ice on our recycle bin that I had to pry open this morning. Don't know if we got any snowflakes overnight, but I do know there was no sign of any such at observation time. There was frost on the roof but not enough to be mistaken for snowfall (and I looked). And the rain we had was an all-day-long good soaker. That's the weather report in our neck of the woods.
2/21/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 shady spots on some streets still looked damp yesterday afternoon, but we have had no rain since 7 a.m. Monday.
2/22/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 no rain yet, but it's in the forecast for later today.
2/23/2012 7:00 AM 0.31 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Other than the rain, we didn't see any sign of a severe t-storm last night (NOAA radio alerted Knox and other counties to one they said was moving at 80 mph!), but TV news had reports of trees and/or power lines down in other parts of town. We did, however, get some thunder and lightning with a little rain yesterday about mid-morning.
2/24/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 That's right; zero precip in last 24 hours to 7am today. We subsequently got a 15 minute shower (heavy at times) around 8:30 with its arrival announced by some thunder. Of course, that amount will be reported here tomorrow.
2/25/2012 7:00 AM 0.08 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 this rainfall is the result of that early morning shower I mentioned while I was filling out yesterday's reports.

3/3/2012 7:00 AM 0.79 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 No hail or damaging winds at this site, thank goodness. Have to add "that we know of" to the flooding "value". And just a note to thank the local TV stations for the wall-to-wall coverage of these storms almost all day.
3/4/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 gauge is dry this morning, but maybe rain/snow tomorrow.
3/5/2012 7:00 AM T 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 the promised inch of overnight snow must have evaporated on the way down, which is par for the course for this winter. Oh by the way, the less than measurable amount of precip was mostly stray snowflakes during the daytime.
3/6/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 a dry but moderate-to-heavy frosty 29 degrees this morning. Low 60s forecast this afternoon should help increase turnout for the Super Tuesday elections. Not much chance of precip predicted before this Friday.
3/7/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 No frost today; 50% chance rain starts by tomorrow night.
3/8/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Another dry reading day; that should change by tomorrow.
3/9/2012 7:00 AM 1.45 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 we didn't hear any evidence of rain, so we think that most of it must have come after bedtime, since all we got before dark was just a little light showering. It also was more precip than TV meteorologists predicted. NOTE: need an "unknown" choice for Flooding Value.
3/10/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 nothing in gauge. Mid-70s coming by mid-week; everything seems to be ready for spring. Wonder if the dogwoods are going to bloom out before the Arts Festival comes around.
3/11/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 no precip, and no sign of any with clear skies overhead.
3/12/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 nothing yet, but precip is supposedly on its way here.
3/13/2012 7:00 AM 0.11 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 not much, but it's something. Predicted to get some more today and then again on Friday after flirting with the 80 degree mark Thursday as well as next Monday, too. And Spring doesn't even start until a week from today.
3/14/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 a little dew this morning, but no actual precip to report. If my thermometer is right, we hit 79 degrees yesterday, so I wouldn't be surprised to see 80 today.
3/15/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 another beautiful dry day, it reached 81 degrees here on at least one thermometer; rain is now likely on Friday.
3/16/2012 7:00 AM 0.81 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 some light fog this morning, visibility almost 0.5 mile; lots of lightning and thunder in mid-evening, but some rain continued to fall on past midnight. 3/18/2012 7:00 AM 0.59 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 thunderstorm came through here a little after midnight. NOTE: this is a 2-day report, so I will file a multi-day accumulation for it ASAP.

3/23/2012 7:00 AM 0.21 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 rain was approximately between 4:15 and 5:00 p.m., and it included thunder and lightning every 5 minutes or so
3/24/2012 7:00 AM 0.91 M M M M Sorry for the delay--internet was out since Fri. night. Regarding flooding, all I can say is I haven't seen any, but I still think there should be an option to pick for "I don't know" or "unknown" or something like that.
3/25/2012 7:00 AM 0.30 M M M M As noted previously, internet was out since Fri. night. More on flooding: we're kind of on a ridgeline, so we don't see much flooding here unless we happen to go out when the water is high or it leaves evidence behind.

3/31/2012 7:00 AM 0.04 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 shower in mid-afternoon and another one overnight, but neither one amounted to very much in the way of precip. Interestingly, additional showers must have just missed us over the nearby ridge in the later part of afternoon.
4/1/2012 7:00 AM 0.05 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Yes, we got rain, but barely enough to wet things down
4/2/2012 7:00 AM 0.10 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Yes, it was exactly one-tenth from mid-afternoon T-storm
4/3/2012 7:00 AM 0.81 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 approximately 0.77 inch of rain came in daylight hours
4/4/2012 7:00 AM 0.39 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 It was a strange, backward sort of evening at our house: first we had a power outage lasting for nearly an hour, after which we got a T-storm. Must have been something odd to cause the outage to get here before the storm did.
4/5/2012 7:00 AM 0.08 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 an evening shower once again, with a little thunder, too
4/6/2012 7:00 AM 1.73 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 large or slow-moving (not sure which) T-storm started up a little while after dark and continued for over an hour with rain beating hard down on the roof most of the time and with fairly frequent lightning occurring throughout.
4/7/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 No precip in previous 24 hours whatsoever, thankfully.
4/8/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 nothing in the gauge today, but a little dew outside it
4/9/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 no sign of frost and no sign of precip in the rain gauge
4/10/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 once again, "nothing" to report precip-wise, just some dew is all there is this morning.
4/11/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 zero precip again, but we did get some light frost today
4/12/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Zero precip again, but we did get a heavy white frost this morning to go along with our overnight low of 33. NOTE: THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IN SIX MONTHS, SINCE 10/27/11, THAT WE'VE HAD SIX DAYS IN A ROW WITH NO RAIN.
4/13/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 no precip, but we did have light-to-moderate frost with a low of 38. This is 7 days in a row without rain, the longest such stretch since a 13-day period that ran all the way through 10-10-11. None predicted until Tuesday.
4/14/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 8 days in a row and counting with no precip, the longest dry spell we've had since the 13-day "drought" that ran through 10-10-11. Relief is in sight, however, with rain now seen as highly probable on Monday night and Tuesday.
4/15/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 9 days in a row of no precip, the longest such stretch since a 13-day streak that lasted through 10-10-11. Rain is in the forecast, however, for Monday night and Tuesday
4/16/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 dry outside the gauge too this morning--not even any dew. Today also marks the 10th day in a row of no precip, the longest such stretch since a streak of 13 that ran through 10-10-11. Rain is predicted for tonight, though.
4/17/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Dry as a bone both inside and outside the gauge, so yes, that's right, the predicted rain missed us, and we now stand at 11 days in a row without any precip, which is the longest such stretch since a 13-day streak that ran through 10-10-11. Oh, well, guess we get to plant some of the garden today despite the threat of frost next Tuesday morning
4/18/2012 7:00 AM 0.20 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 exactly two-tenths of an inch; light rain falling at O.T. We had a trace of precip at 4 p.m., but the measurable rainfall all came in the overnight hours. Forecast says more rain is likely on tap for today.
4/19/2012 7:00 AM 0.07 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 reported amount fell yesterday morning, representing the wind-down to the preceding overnight rainfall. There's a good chance we may be seeing more precip during the next few days, as a cold front is forecast to be approaching.
4/20/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 zero precip, but a little light fog near rooftop level
4/21/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 zero so far, but rain is predicted for today later on
4/22/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 no rain observed at this location and none in gauge, so if we had a trace here I guess we missed it. HOWEVER, just happened to be at Western Plaza Shopping Center for a hard shower just a few minutes after 11am yesterday.
4/23/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 zero precip again, but possibility of some rain tonight
4/24/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Zero again; not seriously dry yet, but it's getting there. Maybe the forecast for rain will come true this week before temperatures increase and make it worse. Garden-starting time means we'll be needing some precip.
4/25/2012 7:00 AM 0.12 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 In addition to the above-reported overnight rainfall, we had a trace fall in a 1-minute shower at about 3:15 p.m. Almost forgot, we had a touch of light fog this morning, not enough for a significant effect on visibility though.
4/26/2012 7:00 AM 0.01 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 Just barely a measurable amount in the gauge, and that came around 6:00 p.m. (and a little after) last night. According to weather radio, severe thunderstorm(s) approaching now, but didn't arrive until after Observation Time.
4/27/2012 7:00 AM 0.76 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 We got our garden out just in time to benefit from this soaker rain. Glad we didn't get the baseball-sized hail that some folks up in Gatlinburg did. Workers here are still fixing roofs damaged by last April's big hailstorm.
4/28/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M zero precip
4/29/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 0.0 0.00 zero precip. forecast calls for 80 or more all week.
4/30/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M not a drop. one forecast calls for a little rain today, but others say wait till tomorrow when all-day precip may well be in the cards from front now in Arkansas.
5/1/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M not even any dew this morning; talk about dry, I reckon. At least one forecast is calling for some rain this p.m. (hope they're right so I don't have to water the garden), with little or no chance for precip the rest of the week.
5/2/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M dry again. the reports of possible precip turned out to be greatly exaggerated, sort of like Mark Twain's death. Be interesting to see if the same thing is true for the predictions of a record-tying high of 90 degrees today.
5/3/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M A little bit of dew, but otherwise dry as a bone, except for where I watered our (just-planted) vegetable garden. Forecast now showing a 60% chance of precip on Saturday and 40% each on Sunday and Monday, otherwise only 20%.
5/4/2012 7:00 AM 0.19 M M M M thunderstorm and some extra rain arrived around bedtime. Forecast is still for 60% chance of precip tomorrow, but the "other" 40% has now moved to Tuesday, with every one of the other days in 8-day prediction now rated at 20%.
5/5/2012 7:00 AM 0.23 M M M M woke up to light-to-moderate rain with a little thunder
5/6/2012 7:00 AM T M M M M gauge dry this morning, but we had a sprinkle yesterday mid-morning
5/7/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M dry - no precip to report today
5/8/2012 7:00 AM 0.07 M M M M we got a little bit of rain about mid-afternoon yesterday
5/9/2012 7:00 AM 0.12 M M M M approximately 90% of this precip came in a mid-afternoon shower; the rest was sometime overnight. Forecast calls for no rain for the next few days, then some on Monday. As usual there is a small chance of "surprise showers".
5/10/2012 7:00 AM 0.04 M M M M precip came around mid-morning yesterday in light shower
5/11/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M zero precip this time around, with zero chance of rain both today and tomorrow according to local forecasting
5/12/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Nothing to report again, except maybe that it's starting to look a little rainy, or is that just wishful thinking?
5/13/2012 7:00 AM 0.17 M M M M light rain at Observation Time, more rain is on the way.
5/14/2012 7:45 AM 1.89 M M M M yes, a lot of rain overnight and still raining lightly. We haven't had this much rain in one day since 10/19/11. Power was out for over an hour during the early morning. Garden just getting started, so this should really help.
5/15/2012 7:00 AM 0.08 M M M M precip reported above is from the light rain that kept falling for part of the morning after Observation Time yesterday. This total might have been a little higher if power outage had not kept my alarm from waking me up at the usual time, but conversely my reported total for yesterday's O.T. would have been a little lower. I guess you could add the two together and treat it as a multi-day accumulation if that makes it any better.
5/16/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M zero precip but heavy fog this morning with visibility down to about 100 yards or so. Please drive safely.
5/17/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M No precip again, but there is a heavy dew this morning.
5/18/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M No precip in gauge and nothing else to report this a.m. unless you count reaching 83 degrees yesterday, that is. Oh, and the morning low of 60 felt much warmer than that which I guess must have been due to high humidity maybe.
5/19/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M no precip despite T-storms in the area last evening. Note that trace did fall late afternoon at Kroger in Bearden, but that is the closest we came here to rain, although we did get some thunder in late afternoon.
5/20/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Zero precip at this location, just a moderate dew like yesterday is all.
5/21/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M nothing again, but apparently some rain is on the way for later today (tonight?) with more coming tomorrow.
5/22/2012 7:00 AM 0.07 M M M M We had what seemed like a nice little shower, but it really didn't amount to a whole lot, as the total shows. It came along about mid-afternoon for about a half-hour. No sign of any more overnight and none falling right now.
5/23/2012 7:00 AM 0.16 M M M M started with a trace late morning, then very slow-moving thunder in the afternoon, and finally rain after supper.
5/24/2012 7:00 AM T M M M M some sprinkles yesterday afternoon, but that's all.
5/25/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Not even a trace of precip. Garden needs some water soon.
5/26/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M no precip to record, but did get a decent amount of dew.
5/27/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M zero precip again; some dew; high yesterday was 89 here, well short of the predicted record-tying 94 degrees; the forecast high temp for today is 93 and it may well make it since it is already 80 at only 9:45 in the morning!
5/28/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M no precip; total rain for the last 13 days is less than one-third of an inch, so we could sure use some anytime now. Would it help if I said please? Forecast says the chance for getting some tomorrow is 50%, which is good.
5/29/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M no precip again, although there was actually some dew on the deck this morning despite our warm overnight low of 68, so I guess humidity must be increasing (I don't have instruments for that). High was 91 for 2nd day in a row, but heat index reported to be near 100.
5/30/2012 7:00 AM 0.02 M M M M only a token of rain here; grass is browning in spots
5/31/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M no precip, but 80% chance of some tonight and tomorrow, although one TV station says it may only be 0.25" or so
6/1/2012 7:00 AM 0.81 M M M M That was a long outage your site had this morning. Hope it's fixed good, as it went down at the worst possible time, about 9 a.m. or so Eastern Daylight Time, when it is the peak time for lots of folks to submit their data. We had a trace around 5 p.m., a T-storm about 8 p.m., thunder again at 11:30, and more rain before sunrise. All in all, the first decent rain in over two weeks.
6/2/2012 7:00 AM 0.38 M M M M the above rain came in the late morning hours yesterday.
6/3/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M zero precip observed during this reporting period
6/4/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M not even a trace to observe and report this morning, and this is despite at least one TV station predicting rain.
6/5/2012 7:00 AM 0.53 M M M M measurable precip reported above all came after dark, since we only got a trace during the daytime hours; neighbor said that we had two different showers, and that the last one had just ended at Observation Time.
6/6/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M No precip to report today and none forecast 'til Monday.
6/7/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M sorry I'm late but I had a very early medical appt. and was pressed for time and waited to report another zero.
6/8/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Another day, another zero in the rain gauge (sigh). At least the forecasts now say precip is likely on Monday.
6/9/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Another day, another zero. Rain now possible on Sunday.
6/10/2012 7:00 AM T M M M M just a trace so far, but radar shows lots more where this came from is on the way and some of it is heavy
6/11/2012 7:00 AM 0.09 M M M M I guess all that light rain didn't add up to very much, but later this morning we should see some heavier precip if what's on the latest radar images makes it this far.
6/12/2012 7:00 AM 0.19 M M M M a little more rain than yesterday, but not a whole lot; another chance for heavier precip today, or so they say.
6/13/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M It's back to the zeroes again for a while, it looks like.
6/14/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Zero again, and forecast makes more of them probable.
6/15/2012 7:00 AM 0.73 M M M M starting at about 6:30 p.m., one (or more) T-storm(s) moved slowly across our location, leaving 0.70" liquid precip plus a scattering of pea to small gumball sized HAIL (estimated maximum size about one centimeter). The storm(s) lasted for nearly an hour and hard rain came for around 30 minutes in the first half of that stormy hour, the second half being mostly dry thunder, at least here. There was also some rather strong wind in and around when the HAIL fell, but I don't have the instruments to measure that; and for the record I don't have a COCORAHS hail pad either, sorry to say. For what it's worth, the extra 0.03" apparently came from a little shower after dark that I didn't see. Also in the FWIW category, I guess, is that just a few minutes before the thunder started, I had checked the radar on all 3 local TV stations websites because of a severe T-storm warning my weather radio picked up for Blount County which is very close by, and there wasn't anything showing at all here in Knox County, so it must have literally been one of those pop-up storms you hear about that seem to come out of nowhere. Note: separate HAIL report has now been filed.
6/16/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M no pop-ups this time, just back to those zeroes again.
6/17/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M not only a zero, but little or no dew this morning too.
6/18/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M another day, another zero, at least that's how it seems
6/19/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M dry once more, but somewhat higher chances of spotty rain in the forecast for today and again on Friday.
6/20/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M no rain, just humidity; warm night means hot day ahead to start off the official astronomical summer season.
6/21/2012 7:00 AM 0.03 M M M M a sort of typical summer shower came along after supper; too bad it didn't last a little longer, as it just kind of got everything wet pretty good and then it was over. We did not get any thunder, wind or downpour with it.
6/22/2012 7:00 AM 0.12 M M M M t-storm came through in late evening just before bedtime
6/23/2012 7:00 AM 0.01 M M M M short summer shower came at around 3:15 p.m. or so, and it was hard enough and long enough to wet surfaces good, but then it was over and the sun came out again (sigh). It was just barely enough rain to even measure. Oh well.
6/24/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M no joy in Mudville, or perhaps more accurately no mud in Knoxville; anyway, no precip to report today, once again.
6/25/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M a little dew, but no rain; small chance for tomorrow.
6/26/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M another day, another zero, but at least it's cooler and less humid this morning. High today "only" 85 after another 94 yesterday. Big weather news is that we're due for a heat wave by this weekend, with temperatures likely to be soaring into triple digit territory. Ouch.
6/27/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M nothing again. Had to water the garden, grass needs it too. If we get the heat wave some forecasters are saying we will, everything else will need watering as well. One says we may tie or set records for 5 days in a row.
6/28/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M
6/29/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M no precip to report and none in sight, just more heat for the immediate future. Airport temp of 101 set a new record for the date, and more new records appear likely for today and tomorrow. Tomorrow's may even break the all-time record high for Knoxville of 104. Global warming may have arrived in East Tennessee?!
6/30/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M zero precip again and record temps possible again too
7/1/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M another day, another zero (again); also, another day, another record (again). Yesterday's high was the very hottest day ever recorded at Knoxville, bar none. And there's only a small chance for an afternoon T-storm.
7/2/2012 7:00 AM 0.62 M M M M still an occasional drop of rain at Observation Time. T-storm came through about 11:45 p.m. til after midnite; may have been more later, but if so I didn't hear it. May not be enough to make it safe for fireworks, tho.
7/3/2012 7:00 AM 0.10 M M M M this is this morning's reading; it is not an estimate. T-storm came through starting by 11:45 and ending well after midnight, but instead of passing directly over this location, it seemed to be off to the side somewhat.
7/4/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Well, back to the zeroes, I guess, at least for now. We thought we heard a little thunder last night, but maybe it was just fireworks; anyway, we didn't get any precip. One forecast I saw said triple digit temp again Friday.
7/5/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M no precip; seems like it's either feast or famine as far as rainfall goes this summer, and summer started early.
7/6/2012 7:00 AM 0.59 M M M M strong T-storm hit here about 6:00 p.m. with very gusty winds and heavy rain; I have no gauge for windspeed, but next door neighbor lost a big branch of a Hackberry tree. Heavy rain & wind soon moved on but moderate rain continued for half an hour or so. We were without power from a little after six until approximately 10 or 12 hours later, more or less.
7/7/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M no rain today (or milk either for Herman's Hermits fans) although there may be some T-storms coming by tomorrow; rain is more likely on Monday, 80% chance according to some forecasts. Daily record of 101 is likely today.
7/8/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M no rain to report, but there's an 80% chance tomorrow.
7/9/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M no rain in the gauge, but at least one forecaster says that we should get inches of it during this week. That should definitely help the dryness situation, but I just hope that when it comes, the weather is not too severe.
7/10/2012 7:00 AM 2.60 M M M M we got 0.80" from a T-storm that came through at about 3 p.m. in the afternoon and the rest came from one or more T-storms that hit here starting around 3 a.m., or almost exactly 12 hours later. Our grass (and weeds) are so much greener this morning that it is almost a miraculous recovery from how brown and crunchy they had gotten from all the heat and little rainfall. The much smaller rains we had last week didn't do that.
7/11/2012 7:00 AM 0.31 M M M M a little bit of thunder yesterday, but no real storm; periods of light-to-moderate rain yesterday like what we're already getting some of now. Apparently we were missed by heavy storms two different times yesterday.
7/12/2012 7:00 AM 0.42 M M M M a sprinkle of light rain continues at Observation Time. No storms here yesterday, about a third of an inch fell during morning hours, with the rest coming overnight.
7/13/2012 7:00 AM 0.78 M M M M No storms yesterday, just a daytime-long steady light to moderate "soaker" type of rain. Precip for the week is up to 3.33" (and the grass/weeds and garden are showing the fruits of it), but there is none on the latest radar for today at the present time, although some showers & T-storms are still possible.
7/14/2012 7:00 AM 0.05 M M M M 100% humidity this morning, and it was fog not rain; thermometer said 72, but it felt like 80 or more. We had a lot of thunder yesterday for about a half hour before and after 5 pm, but the big rain passed us by.
7/15/2012 7:00 AM 0.26 M M M M rain and just a little bit of thunder 2 to 2:30 pm or so
7/16/2012 7:00 AM T M M M M A sprinkle of a shower that wet the deck a little along about the middle of the afternoon yesterday sometime.
7/17/2012 7:00 AM T M M M M This time it was only a very few drops observed without any real shower as such, just a dark cloud overhead.
7/18/2012 7:00 AM 0.09 M M M M pretty good little mid-afternoon shower while it lasted. It was accompanied by a good bit of thunder, but no wind.
7/19/2012 7:00 AM 0.01 M M M M mid-afternoon severe T-storm mostly missed here, but at the Kroger in Bearden there was heavy thunder & downpour; I just don't know how much it amounted to there. 40% chance of precip today, 80% for tomorrow.
7/20/2012 7:00 AM 1.58 M M M M first thunder arrived at about 12:30 a.m., but I did not stay up for the main event. Evidence this morning that there was a lot of wind blowing the rain into the North side of the house under a rather wide overhanging eave.
7/21/2012 7:00 AM 0.10 M M M M This is not an estimate, but how much actually fell from a surprise shower that arrived a little before 8:30 p.m.
7/22/2012 7:00 AM 0.02 M M M M we apparently had a little shower overnight in wee hours
7/23/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M zero point zero zero today
7/24/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Nothing here, but a relatively short shower on Bearden Hill yesterday afternoon wet surfaces down pretty good.
7/25/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M
7/26/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M no precip to report today, but 80% chance for tomorrow.
7/27/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M rain headed our way last nite fell apart over the Plateau
7/28/2012 7:00 AM 0.19 M M M M good shower(s) between 2 and 3 p.m. without any thunder; estimated at about the same or a little less over in the heart of the Bearden District where we were shopping.
7/29/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M watered our garden since we've had so little rain in the past week
7/30/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M only moisture we've had in last 24 hours was from dew.
7/31/2012 7:00 AM 0.38 M M M M rain showers continuing but in spurts, at times slack or heavy (like 0.1" in 5 minutes around 8am this morning).
8/1/2012 7:00 AM 0.20 M M M M this was from the continuation of prior day's rain into the new day yesterday morning, making a two-day event total of 0.58 inches; the storm(s) missed us to the east last evening, although we could see occasional lightning and may even have heard some thunder from it. By the way, I have a QUESTION for you: on a day like yesterday, there's going to be some evaporation from the rain gauge, especially during the afternoon hours, so how do you account for that? Or should we read the gauge before that happens (I did.)? I understand the National Weather Service takes hourly readings, which should at least mitigate that factor from having too much impact on their official record.
8/2/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M not a drop in the gauge; if we got a trace or so then it must have evaporated overnight (see yesterday's question). Radar showed a t-storm headed right toward us in late afternoon until it veered off to go nearer to Farragut; all we got here was a little thunder.
8/3/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M no precip yet; we'll see if 60% prediction comes true
8/4/2012 7:00 AM 0.11 M M M M we had a long light sprinkle at about 3 p.m. and a short but moderately heavy shower at around 7 p.m. No thunder.
8/5/2012 7:00 AM 0.77 M M M M rain arrived a little after 4:30 and was rather heavy at times, but we did not notice any thunder or high winds.
8/6/2012 7:00 AM 0.23 M M M M moderately heavy showers and some thunder starting at about 6 p.m.
8/7/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M none at O.T, but now getting rain and thunder
8/8/2012 7:00 AM 0.40 M M M M This is not an estimate, but rather an exact measurement.
8/9/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M nothing in gauge, but 70 to 80% chance of rain on Friday
8/10/2012 7:00 AM 1.57 M M M M CAUTION: a different type of gauge located in another part of our yard showed a reading of nearly twice this amount and I don't know why they are so far off from each other, but I'm sticking with my "official" location. If it makes any difference, we had a deluge of rain around 3:00 p.m. for over half an hour, and just for fun I estimated it was falling at a rate of possibly as much as 3 inches an hour, more or less. We did get thunder & lightning, not much wind, and no hail.
8/11/2012 7:00 AM 0.11 M M M M There was heavier rain just over the ridge in the Bearden District while we were out shopping yesterday afternoon, but road was dry here by the time we got back home. There also were some showers here yesterday morning. NOTE TO MODERATORS: NICE TOUCH ADDING THE TOTAL PRECIP AMOUNT COLUMN TO THE COMMENTS PAGE!.
8/12/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Nothing in the gauge to report today. Good chance of rain in the forecast for Tuesday.
8/13/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M no precip to report but a good chance of some tomorrow.
8/14/2012 7:00 AM 1.54 M M M M heavy thunder starting around 4:45 a.m. till after 5 which sounded as if it was right on top of us, and more thunder came around 6. Still some light to moderate rain falling at Observation Time. A very good rain.
8/15/2012 7:00 AM 0.71 M M M M this report consists almost entirely of continuing rain yesterday morning from the system that brought multiple overnight T-storms through during the wee hours; only a little bit of additional precip earlier this morning. Total 2-day rain event was 2.25 inches.
8/16/2012 7:00 AM T M M M M we had two different brief light showers during the day yesterday, but neither one was a measurable amount. It is possible that adding the two together might have just reached the threshold of measureability, but there was enough sunshine in between to evaporate any "trace" of the first one before the second one fell, so we'll never know.
8/17/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M nothing in the gauge now, but rain and/or T-storms are expected today, especially this afternoon and evening.
8/18/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M No precip despite all the "weather alerts" issued by certain TV station(s) for yesterday. High school football games supposedly were in danger not from just rain but T-storm lightning. But all that came was a small pocket of rain in a far corner of the county and no lightning within a hundred miles or more. They can explain it, of course, but so much for the accuracy of even their short-range forecasts, and reports have it that soon we'll be getting official (and probably useless?) 30-day forecasts!
8/19/2012 8:30 AM 0.10 M M M M overslept and woke up to exactly one tenth in the gauge. don't know exactly when it came, just that it was sometime during the overnight, probably in the wee hours. Also, no precip falling at Observation Time.
8/20/2012 7:00 AM 0.06 M M M M two fairly brief and mostly light showers yesterday afternoon before rain clouds finally left this area
8/21/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M nothing. nada. zilch. zero.

8/24/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M dry again, but some chance of rain next week.
8/25/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M still dry, but currents predictions call for rain from T.S. Isaac starting as early as Tuesday and going into Thursday, so it may be pretty wet conditions next week.
8/26/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M nary a drop seen here despite some elsewhere in town
8/27/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M still no precip, but Isaac may send some our way later this week according to the current forecast models.
8/28/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M no precip again and chances of meaningful rain from Isaac have gone down with latest models of its path
8/29/2012 7:00 AM 0.04 M M M M just a little shower here last evening around sunset; very interesting wide precip variation on today's map.

9/15/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M no precip, but fog did roll in about 8:00 this morning
9/16/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M still no precip, but possible later today and highly probable tomorrow into Tuesday in current forecasts.
9/17/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M none yet at O.T., but moderate rain as I write this.
9/18/2012 7:00 AM 3.32 M M M M power was out here in early a.m., but no T-storms here or at least none strong enough to wake me up, that is.
9/19/2012 7:00 AM 0.52 M M M M 2-day rain event total 3.84 inches
9/20/2012 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M well, I guess we're back to the zeroes again for a while

3/17/2012 3/18/2012 7:00 AM 2 0.59 M M I already turned in a report for today which included this exact same amount. Do I need to figure out how to delete that report or does this stand separately? Also, I haven't done this before, so what do I do for Saturday the 17th, presumably not a zero report? Oh, for what it's worth, I had an out of town wedding to go to (not mine, I can assure you).
