The wind sensors began transmitting from on top of the new mast about 1245 EDT. The the sensors are open with out obstacles from NE clockwise through NW. There is a line of tall trees and rising land between NW through NE so the winds from those directions aren't likely to be representative of the free wind flow. The trees at the closet point from the mast are 200' away.

CW6014 tipping bucket registered 0.69" before 1300. Nearby pond still 95% ice covered. 0530 to 0900 EDT sustained winds continuously over 22 mph was also when part of the heavier rain fell. Probably this partially accounted for the large disparity between the amounts in the 3 different gauges.

Still a 1-1.5' plowed pile of snow on SW side of parking area. Line of snowers went through producing the precip with a polar (arctic?)front in the early evening of the 1st. Substantial work being done late this afternoon on the wind system of CW6014. Finally have gotten a transmitter operating which will provide accurate wind direction.

Probably a very slight change in wind direction, but too low speed to move the Davis wind vanes. This dip was similar to the one on the 4th except 1.75 hours earlier this morning and the temperature change was less than yesterdays 9 degree drop.
7/6/2013 1:00 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M Thundershower passed just to the north of here last evening with Brooklin School receiving 0.02" I hope the CAR forecasters are looking at the observed Citizen Weather sites maximum temperatures for the previous day before issuing a new forecast. We are getting consistently too low temps forecast along the coast. See CW6596, CW6014 and EW1465 on the NWS Mesonet observations for max temps. On the 4th the max here was 87, on the 5th it was 86 and today by 1245EDT it had reached 88. These max's are from CW6014 Brooklin-Naskeag1 which is using a Davis aspirated temperature radiation shield.

In addition dew points have been 65 or above except for late during the evening of the 4th and early on the 5th when they dropped briefly as low as 60F. Max temp forecasts for the BH Peninsula have been consistently too low. Many of the CAR forecasters are not looking at the observed max temps from Citizen Weather stations along the coast. Temp compares well with RM Young RTD temp sensor in RM Young aspirated radiation shield. Davis aspirated shield has less air flow across temp/RH sensor and thus the Davis temp/RH slower to respond to temp changes than is the RM Young RTD temp sensor in Young aspirated radiation shield.
