Calm winds from the NE, fog, freezing rain and drizzle. Snow pellets on the ground. No accumulation of snow on snow board. Snow board was all frozen ice accretion mixed in with some ice pellets which measured 2/16=.1 Ice Accretion on objects measured at 2/16"=.1. Ice accretion on tree twigs was on north side of twigs. We are presently getting freezing rain and drizzle at this time. The precipitation in my rain gauge was froze ice and some white on the bottom, I assume ice pellets. Very calm. We are at 31*F at our location. Blades of grass is all ice and crunches. Depth of ice is under .5". |

I started measuring at 7:40 AM, it took me awhile to get this done. Yesterday I measured 2/16"=.1 of ice accretion and I took another measurement in the afternoon which was 1/4"=.3. I am not sure what to do with those figures today? I measured my snow board for ice and it had ice accretion of 1/4"=.3 this morning. We have very light snow at the present time, calm, some sunshine filtering through some high clouds @ 19*F. Yesterday was a very different day with precipitaion changing and we had fog. We have very good visibility at this time. Thick ice covers everything. I had some trouble this morning with my mouse, it really ran me late!! The rain turned to snow around 9:00 last night. I went and took a average total snow fall at 2:30 which measured 5.72 and melted value from core, SWE was .58. |

I took my Total SWE later this afternoon after it had warmed up. My SWE was taken through a very hard pack of snow and ice. We first recieved some drizzle a few weeks back that made 1/4" ice accretion. Then we got very wet snow on top of that. We had some snowfall after but last week we got rain on top of that layer. The yard is all different in layers. I went around and measured but the ice was hard, so I took my stove pipe cylinder and cut out some holes and then measured from that because the ruler had a hard time going through the hard layer. I just averaged them out. There was some drifting in places with our last new snowfall.
I measured at grass level for the total depth of snow, not pushing the yardstick way down into the grass layer. I accumulated as best as I could for the melted core value. We are getting some light snow tonight. For the rest of the winter, I will have to deal with this hard layer at the bottom of all our new snow. It is the best I could do with what we have on the ground. |

I measured snow depth around yard and it varied but I tried to find place where no drifting took place. I tried to get all the snow in my cylinder, or as much as I could. I averaged my snow depth by taking quiet a few measurements. Yesterday was very damp with a good SE wind. It wasn't very warm day at all, even though we had a fairly nice temperature. |

Light snow, blowing snow, visibility is still down to 1/4-1/2 mile or less, winds out of the north. We got lots of snow by the looks of it with the size of our snow banks and it is hard snow. We had light snow yesterday morning but by 11:30-12:00, visibility was already down to 1/4 mile and less. The snow picked up around 5PM and snowed heavily with very strong winds through the night. I will measure this afternoon. Looking at my gauge, not much got in it with the winds. I'll take a core amount on my board. Measurements will be hard being we had such strong winds. Very strong snow system. OB Time: 2:00. Today measurement is not accurate in water content nor inches. My gauge only contained .06 of water due to our strong winds of up to and over 40 mph. My snowboard had only on average 1.5" of snow and water content was .35. I walked the yard and I had snow up to my knees in drifts, other places only to boot. So this storm packed such a hard punch with wind, measurement was impossible. I would say we got around 5" of snow to maybe 6". I am not sure how to measure my SWE on Monday. So much variation in our farm yard. |

Partly Cloudy, just a light breeze from the SW and cold @ -6*F. SWE was taking at 11:30 PM. Since we had blizzard with, 40-50 mph strong winds, very difficult to take good average. I tried to find the most sheltered areas. We still have ice at the bottom so using a measuring stick does not get down to bottom until I stick the stove pipe into the snow which cuts into the ice and goes deeper. Very hard to measure and get just a good accurate reading with measuring stick. I took 7 measurements and averaged them out. Snow at bottom is crystallized so it slips out of pipe so easy. |

Blizzard!! Strong winds out of the north, 1/4-1/8th mile visibility or less, snow, blowing snow @ 3*F. No travelling would be advised at all. We had snow showers all day yesterday off and on but last night we received some heavy snow around 12:00 AM. Flakes were huge. It was beautiful watching it came down as we were coming home from a movie. 1.2" average on my snow board. Temperature is not bad, but will be with artic air pushing down on us. I walked yesterday morning, it was very nice and yesterday afternoon it warmed up, sunshine until about 4PM. Then it clouded over. |

We had blizzard yesterday until about 4:00 when the snow quit blowing but the cold air pushed in. Visiibility was down to zero with no travel advised. Gusts up to 40-50 mph wind with the blizzard. Snow started Sunday night at 9PM with winds coming from the north. Cloudy, snow, blowing snow, blizzard conditions, winds gusting from 40-50 mph. Highways and Interstate are closed. Rural county roads are impassable in places due to drifts. Alberta Clipper is moving through. Visibility is poor. No travel advised. Because of the strong winds, my snow board had only 1" of snow. Yesterday we cleared some snow down to the grass. We measured that spot and we got at estimate between 4 to 5" of snow. That is estimate. I took a core sample at 4.5" and the water content was .78. We have huge drifts everywhere in the yard. |

Drove around our block here on rural roads, snow that was pushed along roadside is unbelievable and banks that is in yards and pushed piles. This is gonna be quiet the wet spring! My husband went behind house, he is 6'1 before this last blast and he sank to over mid-thigh in snow, it is so very deep. |

My data is late as the site wouldn't open up and I had to go to school. We had sunshine today, but cold this morning at 3* with windchill of -14. We only had a light wind from the north. Today was nice being we had hardly no wind. Yesterday was brutal with strong north winds and into most of the night. It was more like January days. Winter Storm Warning in effect through tomorrow morning to Monday morning. Up to 12" is expected with blowing snow. The .15 is water content from the snow that fell from the day before. I measured the 2.5" in the morning before it melted and we had snow showers throughtout the day. The snow melted in the water gauge and froze in the night so this is what the water content was for the snow that fell. |

Cloudy, windy, snowing @ 32*F. The snow rolled into our area sometimes after midnight. Yesterday turned out to be a pretty nice day with some sunshine filtering through. We have pretty good winds from the north with blowing and drifting. Highways are all ice.
I would of been out earlier but I bummed out my knee and so walking is very slow in doing everything and getting into the heavy snow. The snow is very wet and heavy. It is not really cold out so that helps. This makes a mess for cattle ranchers! |

Rain has stopped with NE winds @ 45*F. Cloudy. Severe flooding is taking place in Pembina County. Overland flooding everywhere. No travel advised on county roads last night. They are propping up the dam at Icelandic State Park as water was running over the spillway last night. Heavy rain in the county. My total was 4.17 at our location. Reports to our west was 7" and it rained all night. More rain expected for today. Our farmyard is surrounded by water. Our bison only has one small island to sit on. We lost a newborn bison calf yesterday morning as water rose so fast. Reports are from all over the county. It is very bad up here in our county. Cavalier is on alert for possible evacuation. |

I ran into very heavy rain up to Walhalla and heavier torrential rain travelling north to Winkler, Manitoba. Traffic was slowing down because it was so heavy. It is now 3:56 PM and I read the gauge as I emptied out this mornings reading and it is at .42. Ditches again are flowing, water everywhere, fields water. Just what we did not need at all. Very much a disaster with more days to come! |

Partly cloudy. Little popcorn shower yesterday and early this morning, SW winds @63*F. I heard this AM, meteoriologist said that it looks like we will be having a early fall due to jet stream going up and down and bringing cold air from Canada which has been happening all summer. The jet stream usually stays up in Canada for a few monthsfor the summer but that has not happened this summer. |
