Rain started out very light but withing about 1.5 hours of this it came down very hard...Hard enough to be the "heaviest" on most days except today. A wet end to one of the wettest month in the ten years of this site....That with no rain falling at all for the first 11 days with mostly clear and sunny skies. Today's totals are right up there with the most precipitation as well. Steady rain did ease around noon with overcast skies breaking for a bit. Showers have returned with temps rising as well. Rivers crested just under flood stage with the minor local street and field flooding being at the upper end of this category. With yesterday being very windy (605 miles of windrun/25.3mph average wind speed) but not having much rain the skies really opened up about 7:30 AM. During the evening hours there were some scattered showers which lasted through the early morning hours. Significant rain and snow mix continued from yesterday's update until just after midnight before easing and stopping. Then rather hard rain hit about 4:30 in the morning driven by strong westerly winds before these slowly eased and stopped by mid morning. Rain in itself was enough to cause more minor street and field flooding....However coastal flood advisory issued for this area came through based on this rain with high tides, low barometric pressure (28.91) and gusty west winds driving storm waves over the beach and then across the road blocking it with 3-4 feet of water for several hours in the late morning. Skies cleared and tides ebbed causing water levels to drop enough for traffic to continue. Gusty winds still prevail from the west along with cooler than normal temps. Yearly totals of rainfall exceeded 40 inches for the first time in nearly 10 years of this site gather weather data. More is sure to come. |

During the early morning hours we had a decent shot of rain come through with not much more until some light drizzle during the late morning hours diminishing off by early afternoon. Until today June 2013 has been rather dry. Mother nature sort of made of for it with just short of an inch falling in @ 16 hours. Rain started in the early morning hours falling at a decent rate before picking up quite a bit. It then tapered off until a couple hours after dawn and then picked up remaining steady until a couple hours before noon. It subsided slowly until just a drizzle fell and then less. It's still misting out but not enough to say it's still raining. Not a minute of sunshine today. Breezy winds have subsided. Enough rain did fall to cause some local minor street and yard flooding. |

Again no rain. If it wasn't for that .01 inch dubious reading about ten days ago this site would be working on over 30 days without any rain. Whatever scattered precipitation fell that late night and early morning it was just barely .01 inches if that meaning it isn't significant compared to the drought like conditions this site is going through. Today was sunny almost all day with a few thin high clouds again with sunshine total just a couple minutes shy of 14 hours according to the solar sensor. Monthly sunshine total is 351 hours which already has blown the previous record of around 311 hours away. If the site averages 10 hours a day for the remainder of the month total will exceed 400 hours which is simply extraordinary! Overnight low was the coolest of the month at 54.1 degrees. High was about average at 75.0 degrees. Average temp for the entire day will be just under the monthly average of 65.2 degrees. Winds were lighter than monthly average but not super light especially for this time of the year. There is no significant change in the forecast. |

July ends with another day of no rain. Monthly total of .01 is about as close to a minimum record as possible. Seattle wasn't blessed with even that much rain going on 35 days with no precipitation...Something this site matches save that .01 inches... With this being said today was different. Much cooler with average temp of around 63 degrees...2 degrees under monthly average. High did get above 70 degrees (71.9 to be exact) meaning that each day of this month's high exceeded 70 degrees. Each daily average was well above 60 degrees...Both of these very unusual. Today was somewhat breezy again with July's average wind speed of close to 8.5 mph very breezy for this time of the year. Daily sunshine total of 6 1/2 hours was by far the lowest of the month. Monthly total of over 409 hours smashing previous record by around 100 hours. August usually is the driest month but it will be difficult to match July this year. |

Quite the rain day for September. Decided to go with the longer duration variable on the "heaviest precipitation" data. .47 fell during this hour plus period. However another shorter duration starting at 3:20 in the afternoon and lasting 15 minutes plus resulted in .28 inches falling with a max rater of .06 inches a minute or 3.65 per hour. Another hard and short duration rain period started around 4:55 in the afternoon and lasting about 7 minutes in which .15 inches fell which is about .02 inches a minute. Both of these "short duration" rain periods were heavy enough to knock out my satellite TV reception. In general rain started out as light drizzle during the early morning hours picking up slightly around dawn and then easing to light drizzle again staying that way until the long duration heaviest period started. As the front pushes through rain is moving to more shower like with another heavy shot predicted for tomorrow afternoon. Otherwise almost no sunshine hours with lots of heavy overcast skies. Mild temps with snow level about 8000 feet. Windy with gusts to 42 mph and average wind speed so far of almost 19 mph. Barometer fell far to 990mb or 29.26 inches...Very choppy during hard rain and wind periods. Wind advisory for today and high wind watch for tomorrow afternoon with a flood watch as well. Enough rain fell over last couple days and fell hard enough to cause some minor street and field flooding. |

Precipitation really tapered off after yesterday's update with some clearing happening. Skies varied from overcast to partial clearing. Throughout the evening hours all morning and into the early afternoon showers would pass over accounting for all the precipitation. Supposedly most of the moisture is still on the way. Temps mild again with breezy conditions becoming blustery and now quite windy. A high wind warning has been posted from now through tomorrow morning with several 50 mph gust happening already. Very rare for this early. Flood watch is still posted. Last night the middle Nooksak River went briefly over flood stage. It has gone down some. Only time will tell what will happen next. Once again enough rain fell to contribute to minor street and field flooding. |

Very light drizzle at the start of this period. Then right at 7 in the evening rain really picked up with around .45 inches falling during this period. Then rain tapered off as very strong SE winds shift to the SW and eased....Then picked up quite a bit again. Precipitation pretty much stopped until around 4:30 in the morning when it fell light but steady until about noon. This site then got hit by a set of showers in which around .25 inches fell during a 50 minute period. Rain eased with one last small set of showers adding .02 about 30 minutes before update time. Blustery winds now are just breezy. Mostly overcast skies but some clearing with slightly more than an hour of sunshine today. Temps feel cooler than the 53 degrees reading on the thermometer. Enough rain fell again to keep fields and roads affected by some minor flooding. Last week of precipitation wettest week ever in September as was the month of September itself mirroring the surrounding areas. |
