The snowboard and ground amounts are pretty much in the guess category. The snow on the ground ranged between 5 and 7 inches where I think it did not drift too much. However, this was extremely light fluffy snow. I think the leaf blower could clear the drive! Pretty though and the 16° does not feel half cold! |

Cannot account or major difference between guage and sb. I measured the sb at 9:00 pm and wind was not a major issue at that point. Snow came down pretty straight all day. sb measured between 2.5 and 3.5 with most between 3 and 3.5". We have the two bottem parts of a snowbow. I have only seen one other one - sometime in the 1980s in Rockford. This one is to the East that was to the west. I did not go out to measure snow depth. It could be figured out - take my last depth and add any new snow. There has been no melting and the wind has been blowing. I doubt there is any "level" snow anywhere. Finally got my Frontier internet to at least let me signon. Snowboard had about 3" of snow at 7:00, BUT is also has 3" of snow at 2:00 pm and we have not had snow. Wind is strong from the west and north-south roads have whiteout conditions. Plows are trying, but cannot keep up. Some roads (ok country roads not too wide to start with) are a narrow single land. Probably best to ignore the snowboard measurement. |

I don't know if we really had that much snow or if snow blew into the guage. There were times of intense swirling snow which lasted maybe minutes and then nothing. Snowboard is a lost cause with all the drifting. If it gets warmer, I will go into the tall grasses where it cannot drift so much and see how much snow there is on the ground. |

I tried measuring ground snow. It varied from almost nothing to over 12" with most places being about 20". I even thought it might be more levle in the tall grass. Not. Jan had 1.14" of precip and I recorded 9.25" of snow and there were a number of days when there was no snowboard reading because of the wind. THis snow is coming down pretty much without wind. Other than to say the ground is totally covered with snow, total snow is anything from over 12" to about 1" depending on where measurement is taken and that does not include obvious drifts. Measured ground snow at the top of the hill, in most places depth varied between 10 and 12 inches but I am not sure I was all the way to the grass all of the time. I have no idea how much snow we have. The guage is probably most accurate. The snow on the sb measure anywhere from 3.5 to 5 inches - in a space about 18 x 24" so I am calling it 4". Didn't think we had that much wind, but the drive varies from bare asphalt to drifts of about 18" to 2 feet. In the most protected area, it is about 3.5-4". Still snowing very lightly. |

Clear and a cold -16°. I tried measuring random spots for total depth, but I am pretty sure the measure did not go all the way to the gournd each time. Measurements varied between 8" and 13". I just picked a spot and put down the guage and then realized it wasn't all the way down. Eventually, spot I chose was the indicated 11". Depth varies greatly. We are on a hill in the country with a woods to the north and open to south and west, so a lot of blowing. |

Sleet on the window at 6:15 lasted maybe 15 min. Snow with strong south wind began around 6:45. Snowboard blown clear. For total on the gound depth ranges from as low at 4 inches to about 14 inches with most places being between 10-12 inches. That does not include drifted snow of 2 to 3 feet or plowed snow piles of 5 to 6 feed along the drive. Snow has a layer of ice next to the gournd. Total on the ground is a random choice , but pretty representative. |

As per usual, snow depth varies, however most areas where I got 6" last week, I got 4" this time and that is pretty much a non-drift area. On Feb 23 some streams/creeks showed ice free. Ponding on low spots in fields, especiall at the bottem of washes. No flooding noted between Chadwick and Sterling. Today driving to Springfield. Ok, not reporting until 7:00 pm, but it has been a long day. Between Chadwick & Springfield on Monday many fields with large areas flooded esp. between Chadwick & Peoria. After, not so much. Snow close to 100% between Chadwick and Sterling, from Sterling to Peoria, spotty, south of Peoria, no snow cover and no standing water. On return trip, ponds of water were sheets of ice from Peoria north. The tiny bit of snow was drifting in spots from Bradford north. No big deal. |

Guage & snowboard agreed again. Love these snow days without major wind. Precip for Feb was just 1.69 which was lowest in 6 years, except for 2012. Recorded precip for winter was 7.92" but my measurements did not come close to 79 inches of snow. Guess it all blew down the hill! It was snowing at 10:00 pm, but at 12:30 am it had stopped. |

Getting the last 2" of iced into the guage is a real challenge. Beautiful morning - inside. Birght sun, white snow, red birds. The approximately 10-12 inches of snow is from a spot away from drifts and away from areas where first ground usually shows up. However, it does not include the 6 foot piles left by the snowplow guy or the 2 foot drifts. Also, the small percentage of bare ground last Monday is now snow covered. |

We were not at home but I assume it was snow that changed to water to the ice this am. On the areas where there was old frozen snow, there was a 1/2 inch of new fluff. Nothing on the bare ground. Snow is about 75% melted on top of the hill and on the south facing slope. On the bottem of the hill and north facing flope still about 3-4 inches plus the 4-5 foot piles of plowed snow. Yesterday during the blizxzardy snowfall (Sterling) there were 40-50 robbins sitting under a tree. Never saw so many at one time. Guess their flight got cancelled too.
Between Chadwick & Sterling, creeks were running full but not flooding except at Elkorn Creek & Rt. 40 where several fields were under water. Wouldn't be spring without that flood.

Mostly overcast, with a bit of pink sunrise hitting the clouds. Soil very dry up to a6 least 6 inches and not very moist from 6 to 10 inches deep. Good for harvest, not so good for landscape stuff. |

Temp is 59° with hazy sky and no dew. First time in a long time there has been no dew in the am. Corn & beans flying out of the fields and countless grain trucks headed for the river. Folk headed to the hills for the weekend, be careful of farm vehicles. |
