Observation Date Observation Time Precipitation Snowfall Snowfall SWE Snow Depth Snow SWE Notes
10/1/2013 7:00 AM 0.01 M M M M After seven consecutive months of below average precip, Sept yielded 2.13" liquid precip, well above the 1.12" average. This was in stark contrast to Sept 2012, when no precip was observed and the fire season raged on. Year-to-date precip for 2013 is 7.75" liquid, only 69% of the 11.19" norm.
10/2/2013 7:00 AM 0.01 M M M M On my 'to do' list today is removing the inner-column and top of the gauge to prevent freezing and cracking and to allow for the collection of snow. It's that time of year!
10/3/2013 7:00 AM T M M M M 12th consecutive day with precip observed. Currently, very light rain, gusty north winds, and a temp of 34.
10/4/2013 7:00 AM T 0.0 M M M Precip had a hard time making it over the Sapphire Range into the Bitterroot.

10/20/2013 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Saturday's high temp of 63 was the warmest in two weeks, with a mild overnight low of 38. Saturday was also the 18th consecutive day without measurable precip, with no relief in sight.
10/21/2013 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M The wet and cool Sept followed by the dry and mild Oct has resulted in several Bitterroot farms cutting a late round of hay. Meanwhile, after a promising start in Sept, the high terrain snowpack has diminished to the point of showing bare patches.
