Temp remained below freezing through most of the 24 hour period and stayed in the 27º to 28º range until around approx. 8:00 pm. Max measurement of ice accretion of 2.0 was taken around 1:00 am this morning with temp at 30.3º at that time. Accretion had remained at 0.1 or below up until that time. There is still a trace of ice on our north-facing steps.

Current temp 34.4º F with bright sunshine and calm winds. Very difficult to give exact measurements this am. Melted equivalent in rain gauge may be low due to windy conditions during the last 2 to 3 hours of snowfall. Went with 15" total (new and old) depth this am which was best guest figure last evening on final storm spotter total event report to NWS. Depths were between 14" to 17" with 15" being the most prevalent. Not able to give core sample for new snow as some of the snow on my board was blown off before snowfall ended. Measurements this am are all over the place. We have drifts that are as much as a yard deep due to strong winds occurring during the night. Will edit to add core sample asap; want to double check earlier findings. EDIT: Did 2 additional core samples for a total of 3 samples at a depth of 13.5". Ranges were between 2" and 2.04 inches. Went with 2.2". |

Complicated report! Wet snow in the am with melting, then numerous heavy bands of non-accumulating snow during the afternoon while temp was above freezing and then dry, powdery snow with gusty winds early evening and overnight. Max temp was 43.5 F at 2:20 pm, however, the temp rose and fell numerous times during the afternoon. Temp at 5:39 pm was 30.0 F and continued downward. Overnight low was 16.8 F. Rain gauge: emptied at 3:14 pm on 3/25/14 with melted equiv. of 0.06". Emptied again at 8:00 am this morning with melted equiv. of 0.01". Melted core values are from two samples. First core: 0.19" liquid equiv. from a 3.0" sample taken at 3:00 on 3/25. This amount includes 2.3" of snow which was reported on 3/25/14's report. A small amount of settling had occurred from an earlier measurement of 3.5". Second core melted equiv. of 0.10" this am from 1.5" depth of new snow from an area previously cleared from snow occurring yesterday morning. Event total (3/25 & 3/26): 5" of snow. |

Patches of blue sky this am! Currently 66º with mostly cloudy skies but enough breaks to see a glimpse of sunshine. Of the 0.98" total for this morning, 0.45 was emptied at 4:00 pm. The rest fell overnight. Very dense fog at times during the day and last evening. Total amount of rain that has fallen since 8:00 am on Friday 8/8/14 through this morning at 8:00 am is 3.41 inches. Ready for extended sunshine!

As a result of the past several days worth of humid, misty/rainy days and cloudy skies, the leaves on my garden veggies are now covered in rust spots and downy mildew. Gardening has been quite the challenge this summer, first with too little rain, and now too much rain along with consistently chilly temps at nights and often during the day as well.
