Temp. on my porch 58 degrees. As I drove thru my area yesterday I saw how hard winter was on the trees along the median strips. The city was out cutting down many of them that died from the cold temp.s Looking in my own yard, I may have lost my Japanese Maple. It never lost all the leaves like it has done for years during the winter months. I will be checking to see if I can see any leaf buds coming out in the next few weeks. I just hate to think of having to have it cut down. It has been a beautiful tree for color and do not want to lose it. Cold and dreary this morning with temp. at 32 degrees on my front porch. Todays weather will be breezy with rain showers. High only in upper 30's and we are 3 days away from spring. No rain from the last 2 days but we had some last night and this morning. It was 48* on my porch at 9:23 a.m. We will be getting more rain today and a warm up. So glad as it has been chilly the last few days. I had to pull out my hoodie that I had washed and put away for the summer. That is not cool but I figured since Easter was late this year it would be springlike weather from then on. I can see a spring that jumps right into summer in my immediate future.

with lightening and thunder and winds blowing things around in the yard. It also hailed for a short time. The storm lasted about 15 to 20 mins. and I was worried about tornados because it got so dark and threatening. As far as I know there were none. |

Storm blew through yesterday and gave us much needed rain. Tornados in VA. Beach did much damage. Trees up-rooted and limbs splitting off from trees that will probably have to be cut down because of the damage done to their trunks. Some houses were damaged pretty bad. The weather report showed one that had the 3rd floor completely gone from the tornado that hit it. A steeple was toppled from one of the churches and other damages to many to post here. Lots of clean up going on today, but the flowers look great. 90* weather reported for next week so I guess they will dry out fast. |

Lots of thunder and lightening yesterday but not as much rain as I expected. A CF1 class tornado hit the Eastern Shore across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel from Norfolk. Initally , I heard it was a
water spout.
2 people were killed and their son is in the hospital with head wounds. over thirty people injured. Had more thunder and lightening last night. It rained

I have a correction for my report on 09/26/14. I reported 0.05 moisture in my gauge and I should have reported it as 0.15. Since that last report I have had 0.00 for the days 09/27-29/14. Sorry for the mix-up but due to an emergency i was not able to correct it until now. |
