There was some sleet during the afternoon, followed by freezing drizzle and occasional freezing rain during the evening and overnight hours. The overnight temperature rose from 25 to 32°F. Both road and elevated surfaces are very icy this morning, and spotty freezing rain continues. Total ice accretion: 0.1 inch.
12/10/2013 7:00 AM 0.30 3.5 M 7.5 M Report was taken at exactly 7 am and precipitation was measured, not estimated. What a difference two hours make. A few flurries began at 5 am, and two hours later, there are 3.5 inches of fresh, wet, fluffy, snow plastered to all surfaces. The temperature rose from 30 to 37°F overnight, after the dense, evening fog cleared and the cold-air wedge finally broke, but has currently fallen back to 33°F. Monday was a cloudy day, with a few drops of freezing rain lingering past the 7 am observation time and Sunday's 6.6 inches of snow/sleet setting to 4.0 inches by day's end.

Light snow and flurries lingered later into the morning. In the afternoon, partial clearing and breezy conditions led to some blowing snow. The current snow depth of 8" includes 4" of snow/sleet from Dec. 8 and 4" of snow from Dec. 10. Low this morning: 22°F.

An additional 1.3" fell from 12:30 to 5 pm. Then, there was sleet (0.1") until 6 pm, followed by rain and freezing rain -- depending upon surface -- in the eve. Overnight, a thin coat of freezing drizzle coated elevated surfaces, as the low dipped to 31 deg F. Currently, there is partial clearing.
12/16/2013 7:00 AM T T M 6.0 M Dec. 15 was a cool day with gusty winds developing. Any melting of snow occurred mostly early in the day. A few snow flurries were noted just before the 7 am observation.
12/17/2013 7:00 AM T 0.1 M 5.0 M Had the unique overnight combination of having both a dusting of snow and a light frost. There was a snow shower in the evening, starting around 6:30 pm on Dec. 16, along with a few flurries early in the day.
12/18/2013 7:00 AM T T M 4.5 M There were flurries around sunrise on Dec. 17, followed by a snow shower (snow grains) from about noon to 1 pm. Flurries were also observed at observation on Dec. 18, and a beautiful sun pillar occurred after sunrise.
