WHEW--the rain that I've been hoping for has arrived--with a HUGE windstorm. When I went out around 7:15 the skies were cloudy but I could see blue to the east. The skies grew darker, and with a WHOOSH about 8:30 there was a HUGE windstorm and downpours--torrential! Lasted perhaps 10 minute before the winds dropped. Now at almost 10 AM it is raining steadily, but windlessly. The street is littered with fallen yellow leaves from the pasture across the street. |

When I went out with the dogs a short time later (just getting light), I did a little buck-n-wing slipslidingaway dance. It probably was quite amusing to any passersby, but set my heart into a rumba rhythm... It did NOT look slick; even the black-topped road, which seldom is frozen when there's ice only on grass and sidewalk, proved to be a skating rink. But I crept in safe and sound to the warmth of my house--where I intend to stay ALL day! |
