"Snowed" off and on throughout the day, much of it ice crystals. Sundogs for nearly 30 minutes around 845. Although we're forecasted snow today, it's currently clear as a bell and calm as a tomb. I haven't a clue how to average what's on the ground. 5-6 inches of crust and new fluff is common as is the 1.5 inches measured on the ground which had been bare. I'm calling 2.5" total. What we have won't matter to flood statistics, so I'll just have to relax. |

Moderate rain shower at 7:45PM and good, strong rain, with no wind, at 10PM. These rains left .4 inches in the gauge. At observation time, we have calm, "heavy, but clearing" skies. It's quiet as a tomb at 48 degrees F. |

With help from paper towel and a chopstick, the gauge is fairly pristine. We had mist, rain, graupel and snow off and on throughout the day. 26 degrees F at 6 AM. Same at observation time. Some clouds still to the east, but clear skies to south, north and west. There are bits of snow/graupel in the lee of things, but nothing measurable. Ice coats picnic table and grasses and had both the gauge and the outhouse door locked down pretty well. |

A few sprinkles at 3:15PM, but nothing came of it as the clouds moved through. (This rain probably started between 10 and 11PM.) It's the first time since snowy spring I've had to use my headlamp to read the gauge. Too dark for a good reading; clouds are on the ground and visibility is about half a mile. No Red Butte, no Face, no North Fork Canyon to be seen. There's a light wind; nothing constant. It's going to be a wonderful autumn day. Currently 46 degrees F.
