Heavy thunderstorms came through during the afternoon hours yesterday, producing some of the highest rainfall rates I've seen in quite a long time. Nearly 1 inch of rain fell in about 15 minutes during the heaviest portion of the storm. Rather significant street flooding was observed after the storms passed through, but flooding has since subsided. There is no flooding ongoing now at observation time. |

Two main rounds of thunderstorms occurred during the evening hours. 1st storm was tornadic. Tornado sirens in Pontiac sounded around 5:20 PM as there was heavy rotation coming into town. That storm brought some heavy rain and wind to the area. Another storm came through about an hour or so later. 2nd storm was not severe, but was more of an efficient rain producer than the 1st. |
