Observation Date Observation Time Precipitation Snowfall Snowfall SWE Snow Depth Snow SWE Notes
10/1/2014 5:00 AM 0.14 M M M M light showers started at 1AM and continue. No wind all day, clouds, and I think I heard our mushrooom eating squirrel being eaten, meaning we have no squirrels left. I'll have to buy peanuts Friday on my shopping trip.
10/2/2014 5:00 AM 0.40 M M M M Off and on sprinkles and drizzle. Trees are giving up on the concept of holding leaves, but slow and reluctantly.
10/3/2014 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M
10/4/2014 5:00 AM 0.03 M M M M Drizzle, no wind, only chickadees to be heard in the afternoon.
10/5/2014 5:00 AM 1.63 M M M M Most of the day was light/moderate rain. Heavy band came through at the end around 9PM.
10/6/2014 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Sun and windy in the morn, which settled down in the afternoon. Chickadees were present when thw wind settled.
10/7/2014 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Aside from learning Hawaii and Alaska have interstates, nothing happened Monday. Leaves, wind, falling. Chickadees. No blizzards YET.
10/8/2014 6:00 AM 0.31 0.0 M M M Heaviest rain was a short burst around 9PM. Wind wasn't as forecast, but it hasn't been all summer. Still Mom freaked out because channel 9 said there were going to be 60 mph gusts. Only got to 20mph.

10/13/2014 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Bit of a chill this morning,32.7° and a one mile an hour wind from the west.
10/14/2014 5:00 AM T M M M M Drizzly fog fow an hour. 55°.still foggy. No frost to report, no snow either. Still waiting.
10/15/2014 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Toasty morning, 66°, and a bit breezy. An hour ago a turkey was accosted, or an attempted accosting, it flew across the road, but there was another that didn't sound so lucky. All under the cloak of darkness.
10/16/2014 5:00 AM 0.12 M M M M A few blasts of rain, temp has been 66.4° all day and still is. Wind is calm, and I think the orange cat is up to something.
10/17/2014 5:00 AM 0.60 M M M M Light to moderate showers, no wind to speak of. trees have mostly dropped the leaves, but the orange low clouds at sunset made a great view of the remaining leaves. Very brightly lit up. No I don't know how to get the pictures from the phone to the computer, so I didn't bother getting pictures. I won Howie Carr Police Blotter/Fax Friday again.
10/18/2014 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Not bad day, sun was annoying, as usual. Warm enough to open the windows for the cats, then close them as the cats were napping. No nail attacks, all ended well.

10/20/2014 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M
10/21/2014 5:00 AM T M M M M 2 light midnightish showers. 48°, no snow yet. Hummingbird Jane sent an email, she has arrived safely south of the Equator.
10/22/2014 5:00 AM 0.02 M M M M Cloudy all day, light wind. 2 squirrels about relocating what they'd buried a few days ago. I saw 2 cats , one siamese, and the other black, both running south until they came to the tall grass on the side of the road. They didn't find any treats and went on. 1 woodpecker, large red headed and the size of a crow. Looked like a duck with a red wig when it flew off.

10/27/2014 5:00 AM T M M M M 2 minute shower at noon, that was the lot. Thin tailed squirrel showed up at 2:15 with an acorn and a oak leaf sticking out it's mouth, sat and watched to be sure I wasn't after the goods, as I have 3 teeth, it would have done no good for me. 3 minutes later it went off to the woods behind the large rock at the bottom opf turkey hill and stuffed the acorn into the ground. I assume the leaf was a marker. Then to the right of said squirrel a frog jumped... a frog. Time for them to be freezing up for the winter. Black bears will be finding the den for the winter next week, they will be sorely missed. Oak trees are the last of the defiant to drop the leaves, but they are giving off their summer plumage, very slowly.

2/21/2015 5:00 AM T T T M M Wind blew any precip away in short order. What was in the gauge evaporated. 1 set of turkey tracks. I'd assume that means the coyotes have moved on.

That's the lot it looks like as the cloud line is coming into western VT, so we should claer, somewhat, in 2 hours. Wind map's showing 2 MPH or less. Only one turkey in the area, lots of tracks around as it was enjoying the bits of tree that had fallen from the previous night's wind.

4/2/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Return visitor in town. Porcupine. Last time I saw the critter was last April. He showed up Tuesday at 6PM, sniffing around for tasty tidbits from what the snow had released as it melted. Wednesday, He was back. This is when I learned they climb trees and enjoy the evergreen needles. maybe not enjoy, as such, but do dine when winter left crap for food. Winter's apparently not a good cook. The poor fella walks slowly, like a sloth, but the quills gave it away. I found out, through a youtube search, the mysterious yipping in the woods is from a fox. Porcupines sound more like a kazzoo. So, we have squirrels, chipmunks, deer, turkeys, porcupines, weasels, foxes, partridge, hummingbirds, cardinals, blue jays, and of course, crows, chickadees, robins, phoebes, hawks, Canadia geese, ducks, and so far no bees. I must remember to get rid of that big hive when the snow clears off so I can walk out to said hive.

Tuesday night, I heard a critter walking by the deck I was sitting on,in the dead leaves, so I employed "the flashlight" I got when I bought my gauge. I switched it on, and scanned the ground. The critter was moving to the woods. Scanning the area I realized...... Skunks are made with invisibility cloak. My, my, they are clever. 2 nights later, I heard the familiar rustling of dead leaves...there was more than one. I employed the forementioned flashlight. There they were, 3 baby racoons. Dark furred critters with a healthy appetite. First time racoons have been about in this area. The coyotes have moved on as the pickin's were little to naught. The porcupine managed to crawl up a small oak, and stripped the bark of a small branch. Haven't seen it in a week. The white weasel has also moved on. 2 squirrels, and we will be putting the hummingbird feeders out this week, because they are due soon. Mr. Tom's 'in the mood' but the hens are about when he's at the pub. Birds are chickadees, pheobes, blue jays, crows, of course, and robins, red tail hawks, mallards, canadia geese, sparrows, and cardinals.

5/4/2015 5:00 AM T M M M M Just enough to wet the surfaces, but not enough to form the remotest puddle. 2 Hummingbird feeders are set out, as there were 2 possible sightings. Flowers are not opening yet, which makes me think the hummingbirds may not be here yet.
5/5/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M None to report. Hornets were looking for a nesting place, but a well used can of raid®, deterered them. First hummingbird showed up at the feeders at 1PM.

5/7/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M An all day duel for the hummingbirds. They didn't even stop for lunch. It's the males, as best can be observed, 3 so far. Ladies should be here by next weekend when the flowers are open. Trees are beginning to leaf out. The white birch has made great progress in 3 days. Hornets are a bit put off by the smell of Raid®, and not sure what to do, except annoy the humans. The fly swatter is out, just in case.
5/8/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Hummingbirds were nowhere as active today. However, there was a male doing the happy dance. Meaning there's a female around. She showed up around 6 PM. Typical of hummingbirds, she wasn't up to his annoying attempts. Hornets are aplenty. More Raid® will be needed.
5/9/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M The lady hummingbirds have arrived! Males are doing the happy dance. Ladies are less than impressed.

5/11/2015 5:00 AM 0.07 M M M M 2 small sower events. Just enough to wet the ground, not even small puddles formed on them. After the first went by, local lightning was heard on the AM radio, but only for 6 minutes.
5/12/2015 5:00 AM T M M M M By "T" I mean Trace, really small trace. Drizzle for very short times. So small of a trace, the porch is still dry. Looking at radar since 10PM the storms don't stand a chance with the fast moving cold front from the west. Low for the night was right on target 59°, that's all that's on target.
5/13/2015 5:00 AM 0.23 M M M M Short storm, wind up to 37 MPH, no hail. Then the sun came out, and to the SW plumes of fast moving fog. No damage, birds took up where the left off. For some reason, hummingbirds aren't intimidated by such storms. Temp at the start was 83°, at the finish 67°.

5/16/2015 5:00 AM T M M M M Sprinkles that didn't show up on the deck. This year, it looks like the wildlife is going to be birds. Sparrow's set up a nest on the eve of the shed, and is keeping her eggs warm.
5/17/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Nothing, not a drop. We have an unusual high number of birds nesting this year. 2 cardinals chased a blue jay from their nest, hummingbirds are in a non-stop buzz fest, and swear a lot, robins nesting in the evergreens where the cardinals, and every species of bird, many I'm not familiar with, are nesting. The bird nested on the shed eave is doing well, and has a back-up team to keep watch when she heads out for food. Not many wasps/hornets or oter bugs this year....I wonder why.
5/18/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M First time I've heard a whippoorwill in over 40 years. It was nearby, and went on for 20 minutes. I heard it at midnight, my sister heard it at 9pm.

6/12/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Repositioned one of the hummingbird feeders, which looks like it was a good hindsight. They like it best closest to the trees they use. 3 or 4 bullfrogs were "courtin' and sparkin'" in the drainage water outlet. Whipporwill's are again a no show, since the coy dogs made their presence known last weekend, and then took off. Wind (NW) was strong enough to put the deck brolly down. Bird's naturally saw it as a target practice. 1 hit... on the table.

6/15/2015 5:00 AM 0.12 M M M M Ongoing situation. It's been light most of the night, since 11PM. The rain's picking up speed, according to radar. Mum and I weeded the flowers in front that my living impaired sister planted years ago, as older sister's not interested. Older sister's cutting of grass looks like a drunk mowed the lawn, as she won't mow the clovers, thinking there will be 4 leafed clovers. She needs therapy. Puss Puss has taken to sitting in the kitchen window at night to listen to the bullfrogs, and watch the lightningbugs. Puss Puss just knocked something over in the bathroom. Time to check it out, and head to bed. CIAO!

6/30/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Not a lot to report. Hummingbirds were busy with the chase scenes, spent 5 hours in ER for a tooth that is a pain, and one of the 10 tigerlillies has opened. The deer a couple days ago that was across the road checking, apparently took dinner on the small yellow flowers in the front beside the tigers, and will be back later to munch the tigers when they are in full bloom, for a delicious feast, then the small maple it enjoyed last year.
7/1/2015 5:00 AM T M M M M Would have missed it if I wasn't out there. Not enough to make into the gauge.
7/2/2015 5:00 AM 1.46 M M M M First inch was from the morning rain, it lasted a while, though not too heavy. The rest was from 3 thunderstorms that came through, none severe.

7/4/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M
7/5/2015 5:00 AM 0.14 M M M M Not a lot, but it was a light 3 hour shower. Good news is, the tooth from hell, is gone. I pulled it out, couldn't stand the 6 day wait any longer. Tiger lillies have 9 sprouts open, and the one deer we saw hasn't been back to munch on it. Sunday, I will attempt to get plant food, hopefully with weed killer. I never liked weeding the garden as a kid, nothing's changed with that, except I'm fat and can't stand for 3 minutes. I hope all had a good, safe Independence Day. Not just the "4th of July" as Obama called it.
7/6/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Getting on to time to clean the gauge again. The summer green is showing up again. In the botanical dept., the flowers I assumed were the yellow roses turned out to be yellow tiger lillies. The roses look like they might be living impaired. Then there's the bush, Orange tiger lillies. I gave the whole lot plant food according to directions on the package. The part they missed was in a video on youtube. WATER the plants, which was not on package labeling. The labeling instructions made it look as they had to avoid water. I'll water them this afternoon.
7/7/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M I used C.L.R and got the gauge looking like new, and a tooth brush, and paper towel, and a long neck brush. , It's done and is ready for more rain. So are the fed flowers in the front yard. Deer has been munching by the cloak of darkness.
7/8/2015 5:00 AM 0.41 M M M M Severe storm was in Orange, Mass. Tasty sounding name, we made it on the edge, it was more thunder than wind. No hail. As is normal, the brave vicious cat, hid under Sister's bed. Puss Puss, however purred on my bed as she got scratched on the back. She purred herself to sleep, woke up and went to her comfy shoebox next to my pillow. One visible lightning flash. Timing was good,as I put plant food on the flowers my late sister planted, and following directions didn't water after. Directions made it clear no wet leaves, no close to the stalk, but neglected water to release the nitrogen. I found that on their website later. The rain was enough to keep the flowers feeding for 3 months.
7/9/2015 4:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Nothing to report, as far as rain. The tiger lillies are doing much better after the feeding, then rain Tuesday. I was sure I had knocked them off, but I actually did something right. No one would have guessed that was possible.
7/10/2015 5:00 AM 0.53 M M M M Not as heavy as expected, but still enough to water the lawn, which needs a shave. No snow detected.
7/11/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M No rain, just a few daytime cumulus. The hummingbirds spent the day heading out for flowers, which is understandable. Much more comfortable than standing on sun heated plastic.
7/12/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M A cardinal showed up in the late afternoon, going from branch to branch, then jumped down to the driveway just 30 feet from me. He looked around and went into the redmaple, then to his nesting area. What I noticed, was the wings were going from brightest red to dark gray. Looks as if the mating season is done for him this year. From what I've read they lose the red when breeding season's done. Cool thing is, even his beak was red. Two hen turkeys are nesting/roosting in the trees on Turkey Hill. With any luck, there will be a new population. So far, the deer hasn't chomped on the tiger lillies, but the mysterious plant my sister planted years ago with the white around the leaves, fell victim to the deer.
7/13/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Nothing to report as far as rain, but there have beenMANY songbirds around, and the cicada has started her song. According to the news, there's still snow in Boston. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2015/07/08/snow-boston-seaport-district/29849439/ Happy Snow Day!
7/14/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Not a thing here. Just east of Springfield, Ma., there was a spot of rain/storm developement, quite a lot, that was not moving anywhere, probably 5 MPH. They rained out before moving. Plamts in the front yard are happy with the Miracle Gro® and have new sprouts, except for the leafy one munched on by a deer. Still don't know waht it was, but Sis planted it for a reason. She's living impaired, so I can't ask her.
7/15/2015 5:00 AM 0.20 M M M M Two events, both gave 0.10". The first was heavy rain, with winds gusting to 7MPH, the second was moderate rain, and took no effort for wind. The stick that was a rose, has loads of leaves after 2 weeks from getting plant food. Tigers are doing well, sprouting blossoms, but the wild flowers appear to have done their run on life.

7/17/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Flowers are doing good. Much weeding should be done, but Puss Puss refuses, as a comfy bed is easier to snooze in.
7/18/2015 5:00 AM 0.38 M M M M Most of this was sprinkles for 3 hours. The last 2 hours topped it off. Humidity has moved in, so any possible rain events COULD give downpours. A bug showed up yesterday, curious looking one, when it was flying at me, it looked like a flying spider. When it landed on the railing (wood), it looked like a stinkbug with no big armour. It had no problem walking on the spiderweb, and either the spider was out for dinner, or it moved and never left a forwarding address. Bugs will be bugs. We had no rain for St.Swithen's Day, so we should be good as far as not getting 40 days of rain.
7/19/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Aside from the humidity, it was a pleasant day. Storms that developed were in NY, and traveling southeast.

7/25/2015 5:00 AM 0.50 M M M M 3 thunderstorms all formed in a line and too their turns in an orderly fashion. As the last one was finishing up, the sun came out. As I looked out the kitchen window to the trees at the edge of turkey hill, 30 feet away, a very noticeable rainbow showed up about 7 feet in the air.
7/26/2015 5:00 AM T M M M M Had we not been outside, it would have gone unnoticed.
7/27/2015 4:30 AM 0.15 M M M M This was our storm. It was North of us around 4:40 PM and went West of us. Chesterfield, Fitzwilliam, Hinsdale, Nh area. As the NWS reported on the alert, it was heading southeast from Putney, VT, but it went SSE. Thunder was near constant, and it went further south than forecast, no suprize. I followed it on radar. We still are down to 3 hummingbirds. I'm not sure what's happening with our kids. They won't give us a hint.
7/28/2015 5:00 AM T M M M M In the form of mist for a minute, as a thunderstorm passed to the south of us.
7/29/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M We're down to 2 male and one hummingbirds. Something's not right.
7/31/2015 5:00 AM 0.05 M M M M Nothing big happened. Still down to 3 hummingbirds.

8/2/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Nothing to see here, folks, move along. I've noticed the rock maples are turning colour this past week. They went to yellow, to gold and brown in a week's span. The maple in the back looks like the leaves are wilting. I haven't a clue what's going on. Any ideas are welcome. Maples typically change a month and a half from now. Still 3 hummingbirds. Last year there were near on 20. It's going to be 80° in December. That must be it.
8/3/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Not a surprize, nothing in the gauge. Forecast is for 'possible' strong to severe storms. For some reason, that's not happened in Cheshire County, in the area. The bats ate all the mosquitoes, and have moved on. I have little belief in the forecasts any longer. The Old Farmer's Almanac is more accurate. Since we were switched to Portland/ Gray, Maine, the accuracy has taken a dive. I go by Orange, Mass. forecast, out of Taunton, Mass. I don't think KGYX has an idea what the terrain is in our area.
8/4/2015 5:00 AM 0.06 M M M M Not much to report again. Still 3 hummingbirds, 2 male, 1 female. The male "happy dance" hasn't happened for over a month. When Mum and I were going out in the afternoon, I pointed out to Mum, a hen turkey with a little one trailing closely. It was about half the size of a full grown chicken. Leaves are still turning colour.
8/5/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Possibly an new addition the the hummingbird family. A female, and just as fiesty as the other. No sign of the turkey today. Tiger lillies are turning brown for the flower stalks. Fall seems to be in a hurry. Again, everyone around us got storms, and we had zilch. I hope we can make up the difference in snow this winter.
8/6/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Hummingbirds sat in the tree watching the disappearance and return of their food. It looks like we might have a second female, but considering their temperment, still no 'happy dance'. Plenty of chase scenes, though. Tiger lillies are already turned to brown stalks, one flower left. I did my gauge clean up 2 weeks ago. CLR works well.
8/7/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Hummingbirs are to a low of 3, now 2 females, and 1 male. Males need to fuel up, as they migrate first. The bees are enjoying the feeders more than the birds. Seems like nature is taking it's course a month and a half early. Trees are already going yellow, usually a mid August thing. Side note, chickadees, don't balance well on hummingbird feeders.
8/8/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M
8/9/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Sun, sun, and more sun. When will it end. Tiger lillies are done, yellow leaves falling, Hummingbirds are all gone, except 2 females, and a male that's not happy danced since June.
8/10/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Still 3 hummers fighting, and the flowers are already going into winter stage. No rain, no snow. Wasps have set up housekeeping on the NW side of the house. Odd that they do, but this has been an odd summer.
8/11/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Hummingbirds, all 3 were in a stir, tempermental as always, but have changed which feeder is the favourite. Birds, what can ya say? 3 goldfinches showed up, they sounded like mini flying hyenas. Mum and I watched them standing on the hummingbird feeder hooks, but getting along much better than the hummingbirds. We think the neighbour has stopped filling her bird feeders, as the hummingbird feeder she has in the back and the bird food feeder are empty. We decided it's best not ask the same woman that nearly fell into the drainage ditch while we snickered.
8/12/2015 5:00 AM 1.97 M M M M 0.84 in the morning, the rest came in a 30 minute rain. Somewith very close lightning. Not to worry, Puss Puss was being scratched on the belly and wasn't concerned with the flashes and sudden house shaking noise. We have 5 hummingbirds, gained 2, but they might be migraters taking flight early. Merry Christmas to all, and to all good night.
8/13/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Nothing as far as liquid, but the hummingbird battles continue.
8/14/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M No water came down. We've upped the hummingbird count to 8, as Mum watched a smackdown of the whole lot, and had to duck several times. Come to think of it, it's been a few months since we saw the ducks. Looks like it's time for me to trim the tigers, as they've started losing the leaves and stems. I'll have to get a look on the rest of the flowers, but it's not looking good. Happy Snow Days.
8/15/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Not much of a day to report. Thunderstorms in NY lostit going through VT's Mountains, weakened to showers, and once they made it to the Connecticut River Valley, disolved. River is too cold. It's been a dry summer in the County.
8/16/2015 5:00 AM 0.18 M M M M This was from 6 storms that went to our north throught the late afternoon. I only saw 1 lightning flash. It came from a storm in Keene to my northeast, traveled overhead onto the storm 13 miles southwest of it. From horizon to horizon.
8/17/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Nothing to share. Hummingbirds are either staying cooler in the trees, or moved on. Still no snow.
8/18/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Mum and I decided to pack one hummingbird feeder in. The air traffic is minimal. Good news is no mosquitoes, due to the dragonflies, which are replaced by bats at night. We had more winter mosquitoes than summer. Bees, on the other hand are annoying, and the size of their nest is impressive. At least 20 on the nest at 6pm. That covered half of it. Note made to buy Raid® and sort out this problem.
8/19/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M As we deal with the heat in S.W.N.H, we bid good bye to Keene's WKBK AM 1290's weekend morning host on his serendipitous Saturday, and Sunday morning, Al Kulas. Very knowledgable on many subjects and most respectful to the callers. He will be misssed sorely. As far as hummingbords. I think they've taken flight. 6 dragonflies were busy, then the 3 bats took over after sunset.

8/22/2015 5:00 AM 0.51 M M M M This was an early morning spot of rain. The cold front went further east than expected. Dew point has to be below 57°, as that's the temp. My decison of the forecasted weekend of finally rain, says, we won't be getting it. I could be wrong, as the NWS usually is. Stock market took a dive, making me glad I'm poor and can't afford to 'play a game of chance'.
8/23/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Aside from the hummingbird that fell asleep on the feeder, not much action here. It looked like the lower half of a hummingbird, but it's beak was on her side, she turned her beak skyward, then turned it back to the side. Minutes later she did the turning skyward turn , had a very long drink, and flew off. Must be the off season for the hummers. Slow news day in the home county.
8/24/2015 5:00 AM 0.07 M M M M Several spurts of light sprinkles. That's all I have to offer.

9/1/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M No rain, what a surprize. At 7:30, the 4 bats took over for the dragonflies at sunset. Down to one hummingbird, female and she has no problem chasing off bees on HER feeder. Patience of a cat she has.

9/3/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Just one female Hummnigbird left. Looks kike she's content having thefeeder to herself. She still looks and listens for anyone else, but alas none. I'm reasonably sure, the Northern Migraters (Quebec) have gone as well.
9/4/2015 4:00 AM 0.02 M M M M 15 minute sort of heavy rain. It's looking like our last hummingbird has departed.

9/9/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M 2 hummingbirds, both female. Not from our lot, they're unfamiliar with the trees. Only stuck around for 3 minutes, one had a drink, the other was chased off by the drinker. Migrating time at 93°.
9/10/2015 5:00 AM 0.37 M M M M The wind was 20 minutes ahead of the line of storms. Cat's observed the occasion by sleeping through it. Whitey cat, did his usual, run under the bed and panic. He's only 3. No hummingbird activity.

9/12/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M The lady hummingbird is adding size. I expect she will be heading out in a week or so. I wish her a safe travel and hope to see her next year. The ants that were getting into the feeders haven't been in there the past 2 weeks.
9/15/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M 2 Hummingbirds, not from our lot, both female, one fattened up, and the new one like a straw. Lightning bug is about for the last 4 nights. Slow light up, hold the light, and slow off light. Poor dickens.

9/20/2015 5:00 AM T M M M M So close, but nothing accumulated. On a side note, for the last 3 mornings, fog was thick enough to accumulate to 0.02 in the gauge. 1 hummingbird showed up, drank and headed off. The determined lightningbug has been blinking slowly for 9 days. The only wild animals I've heard have been the lager-louts on the weekends.

9/29/2015 5:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Hummingbird feeder is officially in and under 'winter hybernating' status with the other 2. The next few days will be a multiday report, as we're finally getting what's called rain. I vaguely remember it having to do with water. I forgot where it comes from.

Temp got as high as 46° by Thursday morn at 3AM, and that was the best of it. The wind forecast never happened (again) so the valley didn't get the 57° Albany (KNEX) got with 35 MPH gusting wind. Winter mosquitoes this year, one is the larger adult and at least 2 mini-skeeters. All good fliers and hearty.
