Only showers yesterday and in middle 50's all day. Rain started consistent with next storm around 7:00 pm. There wasn't any wind with it. Squall line came in around 10:30 pm and rain was very heavy and the wind was the strongest in years. It was literally howling around the windows and doors. Power outage started at 11:00 pm. Came back on briefly at 2 am but soon went out again as another set of storms moved in with more wind. This time there was a lot of lightning. Hail possibly fell as it was loud on the roof. Power came back on at 5 am.

Heavy rain yesterday morning with a brief downpour that was so heavy the water flooded my garage. It started clearing around 11 am with only drizzle and light showers. Gauge check at 12 pm was 0.75 for the morning (5 hours).
It was initially mostly clear early evening dropping to 43f.
Showers 0.08 overnight and 47f and cloudy with the next storm coming.
Just a side note. It seems the 'el nino' is stuck over us here and isn't going to go down to Southern California as much. Early in the fall the county emergency management had a briefing for the winter and the projections were drier here this year and most rain going south. That is not happening as it is stuck right on my location. We are on track for another month of above average rainfall.
Also the soil moisture is very high. I have seem springs popping up in my backyard that haven't been there before. Same thing in the forest. |

Another very nice day, yesterday warmed up quickly as an east wind blew strongly. The low was 59f but by 8:30 it was about 67f. The high at the house here was 76f but with no wind in the late afternoon the temp cooled down. It was 54f this morning with scattered high clouds as the high pressure is waning here. Yesterday started off clear. By 9 am high and mid level clouds started to form. By 10 the south winds started and steadily increased all day. By noontime there was overcast and gusty south winds.
Very gusty in late afternoon and rain began at 6:10 pm.
Squall line on radar finally came to my location about 6:20 and very heavy rain with high winds until 6:55pm. The wind snapped a fertile branching stem on my pear tree, about 5 inches in diameter.
Afterward light winds and rain persisted and at 7:50pm I checked the gauge. 0.38 fell.
At this time the sunset and reflected off the lower clouds for a brilliant golden shine that amazed my children. Temp fell now to 47f
