Light snow began falling about 10:00 AM on the 2nd. Snow continued throughout the remainder of the morning and into the afternoon, soon becoming heavier (at times the far shore of our lake was obscured 1/4 mile away) and driven by gusting winds up to 45 mph. Temperatures hovered around the freezing mark most of the day and except for a couple of occasions when snow briefly accumulated on grassy surfaces, it tended to melt almost as rapidly as it fell. As a result, there was never more than 0.1 inches of snow accumulation on the ground at any one time. Thus, "new snowfall" is at best an estimate.
