Sleet clumps & Rain, mixed w/Snow fell early evening, overnight Freezing Rain noted around midnight a fine glaze on bare pavement this AM. (though not frozen to cup)Snow total on ground has decreased while SWE has skyrocketed (114 grams!) there has only been .70" moisture since 12/15 only 0.13" has melted but temps rose overnight into the mid 30's from upper 20's in evening hours. UPDATE: A 3" CORE WAS MELTED TO VERIFY SWE AND THE AMMOUNT WAS 0.56 ACTUAL SWE, THOUGH SOME WATER MAY HAVE BEEN LOST IN TRANSFERRING FROM 4" OUTER CORE TO 1" INNER TUBE. Lte snow in AM at report time and then midday and again slightly heavier (w lighter flakes) late afternoon into evening and throughout the night. Snow midday seemed sticky and some compaction occurred. Glaciated snow berms cascaded in two large 'Whoomps' from the Roof on the Northside where the Icicles from our roof snow pack have reached 6-8 feet and begun curving back into the house...fell to the ground. the NW corner third remains. The ICE part of the lower third of that roof-pack contains ice with smooth surface and is about 2-3 inches thick. Very heavy mass! |
