11/14/2015 7:30 AM M 1.0 M 1.0 M Lake effect snow advisory issued last vending for Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Allegany counties. W-NW flow off Erie first brought rain then a rain-snow mix then heavy, wind-driven snow.
11/23/2015 7:15 AM M 3.0 M 3.0 M Lake Snow Warning issued for Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties yesterday. A cold western flow over Erie was forecast to bring heavy snow to the Chautauqua ridge. We did experience several meandering heavy bands between 8-10:30 am but that was it. Forecast accuracy grade: 2 out of 4 flakes.
12/3/2015 7:30 AM M 2.5 M 2.5 M Diffuse low pressure system moving through western PA dragging in colder air and limited moisture brought a general light snowfall overnight to the Western Southern Tier and N. Pennsylvania.
12/19/2015 7:30 AM M 8.0 M 8.0 M Lake Snow Warning for S. Erie, Wyoming, Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties. Coldest air of the El Niño-dominated season. Band began impacting region late yesterday on a W-SW flow that veered W-NW which is the best trajectory for giving us the best snow. Snow forecast to continue here for the better part of the day albeit in a .5-1"/hour rate. Could end up with a foot or more before all is said and done. Warmer temps in the 50s later next week.
12/20/2015 7:30 AM M 3.0 M 10.0 M Total snowfall from lake effect over the past 36 hours: 11". This is will be long gone by Christmas with temps approaching 60F accompanied by showers in the extended forecast.
12/29/2015 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Winter Weather Advvisory issued for entire area yesterday afternoon and evening for freezing rain and sleet. A heavy mix occurred late yesterday afternoon into mid-evening along with winds gusting to 60 mph. No significant impacts on roads or issues related to power outages. Heavy snow in northern IA, WI as the strong pressure system ejected out of the panhandle toward Madison. This is a classic setup for heavy snow in northeastern IA (where I'm from).
1/2/2016 7:30 AM M 2.0 M 2.0 M Lake effect snow warning issues yesterday for the Chaut, Catt, S. Erie, Wyoming counties.
1/4/2016 7:30 AM M 1.0 M 2.0 M Minor lake effect as arctic front air invades area on NW and then N winds.
1/11/2016 7:30 AM M 3.0 M M 3.00 Strong cold front ushered in coldest temps of the winter. Strong west winds formed multband LE snow across W. Southern Tier, S. Erie and Wyoming counties. LE snow warning issued. Alberta clipper will bring light synoptic snow to area tomorrow which will renew LE. LE snow watch for tomorrow afternoon which will extend for 24 hours. Same areas predicted to be impacted as current system.
1/13/2016 7:30 AM M 8.0 M 10.0 M Lake Snow Warning continued thru 10 pm for Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and S. Erie counties along with McKean county in PA. Alberta clipper brought 1.5" of snow with a distinct heavy squall line that ushered in cold NW winds igniting the LE. Snowfall rates were about 1"/hr for much of the first 1/2 of the evening. 6.5" of LE.
1/14/2016 7:30 AM M 1.5 M 10.0 M Alberta clipper
1/18/2016 7:30 AM M 7.0 M 12.0 M Lake Snow Warning for Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties along with neighboring Warren and McKean counties in PA. Coldest air of the season coming on W-NW winds fueling bands on heavy LE snow through tomorrow (warning from yesterday until 7 am tomorrow).
1/19/2016 7:00 AM M 9.0 M 16.0 M Lake Snow Warning extended for Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties until 1 pm today. A constant W-NW (280-300) wind has put the bands in a near bullseye across the Southern Tier all of yesterday and throughout the night - a perfect setup for giving us maximum accumulation. Average sniwfall rate was 0.5"/ hour with occasional 1-2" rates yesterday afternoon. In the 9 years I've lived here this is probably the 3 highest LE total -- 16"
1/20/2016 7:00 AM M 1.0 M 12.0 M
1/21/2016 7:30 AM M 3.0 M 14.0 M Weak but consistent NW winds brought snow showers throughout the night.

2/10/2016 7:30 AM M T M T M Lake Snow Warning for S. Erie, Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties until 4 pm tomorrow.
2/11/2016 7:30 AM M 5.0 M 5.0 M Lake Snow Warning until 4 pm today; Lake Effect Snow Watch tonight thru tomorrow night for majority of area. Occasional, light snow yesterday and overnight on W-NW flow. Arctic air invading area.
2/13/2016 7:30 AM M 4.0 M 8.0 M Lake Snow Advisory for 3 counties until 1 am tomorrow. Arctic front plowed through area last night about 8 pm and brought whiteout conditions for an hour followed by periodic moderate/heavy LE for several hours until strong NW winds resulted in multi-bands. Wind Chill Warning until 10 am tomorrow. Temps will struggle to get above 0 with wind chill nearing 20-25 below. This will be temporary as temps rebound to above freezing within 72 hrs.
2/14/2016 7:30 AM M 3.0 M 8.0 M LE snow on a NW flow. Coldest air of the winter. Daytime temps in single digits; overnight low last night -5 to -10F.
2/16/2016 7:30 AM M 8.0 M 14.0 M Winter Storm Watch upgraded to WSWarning yesterday; goes from 7 pm yesterday to 7 pm today. Copious moisture streaming northward from Gulf bringing heavy rain to East Coast. We are in the "sweet spot" here in WNY especially from central Cattaraugus County west and northward toward Buffalo. 2/17/2016 7:30 AM M 2.0 M 14.0 M Wrap around snow from yesterday's major winter storm. Storm total: 10"
2/18/2016 7:30 AM M 1.0 M 15.0 M
2/26/2016 7:30 AM M 3.5 M 3.5 M Wrap around moisture from Midwest storm and weak LE.
3/3/2016 7:30 AM M 2.0 M 2.0 M Lake Effect Snow Advisory issued yesterday -- weak lake effect on a NW flow.
4/3/2016 7:30 AM M 5.0 M 5.0 M Potential upper level low pressure from MI brought synoptic snow to entire region along with arctic winds and temps. After practically no snow in March, it was a rude awaking. Near record breaking lows predicted in the next few days as a series of systems continue pulling cold air from Canada into the NE US.
4/8/2016 7:30 AM M 2.5 M 2.5 M Upper air disturbance coupled with minor lake effect.
4/9/2016 7:30 AM M 2.0 M 2.0 M Clipper system moving from MW to SE across N. PA affecting the S. Tier of NY.
