6/17/2016 7:00 AM 1.49 0.0 M M M Three major waves of heavy rain occurred, the most intense (reported below)was accompanied by hailstones and added about 0.6" to the accumulated rain. The second and third started at about 5:15 pm and lasted about 20 minutes and started at 6:55pm and lasted about 30 minutes, respectively. Hailstones were very irregular with lots of knobbiness and with lengths 50% greater than widths and thicknesses only bout half of widths. Maximum length was about 1.75" and most common length was about 1.25". Hailstones were sparse with only about one every square foot. At 3:50 pm hailstones were still evident on the ground but none were observed in the gauge funnel.
