Oddly overcast until afternoon and then heated up into low 90s. Beautiful sunset with waves of high clouds and probably smoke particles from wildfires. Chard and blackeye susans are happier with not as hot temperature. Not as cool tonight as last night. |

All my peaches dropped off the tree sometime this morning or last night. I gathered 6 but there were only pits left for the other half-dozen. Probably some animal or bird. The ones that were left are very tasty, though. |

Sunny with diffuse high clouds so it wasn't so hot in the sun. Nice light breeze kept it very comfortable in the shade. First Asian pears of the season on my tree should be ready in another week. |

Very clear skies this morning for the total eclipse. It was amazing! Temperatures fell, the breeze stopped blowing, and colors shifted from sunny yellow to dark bluish. As totality approached, I saw white shimmering waves across the top of my car, although it wasn't apparent on the driveway concrete. The corona was larger and wilder than expected. Totality was very short lived and ended as the sun peeked over the moon with a brilliant LED white beam. Heat and wind picked back up when about 1/3rd of the sun returned. I'll see how my photos and video turned out. |

Backyard neighbor's olive tree leaves are looking dry and falling off as if tree suddenly has no water. First time I've seen it do that. Scrub jays are starting to attack some of my Asian pears. They only peck the ripe ones :( |
