Although there is now basically no snow on the ground within 25' of the rain gauge, snow still covers probably 85% of the ground in the neighborhood.

SOG/SWE added 6:46 pm. No, the station did not receive 13" of new snow. The snow within a radius of 40'-50' around the rain gauge and snow board has completely melted. Because of topography, the snow around the station melts much earlier than the rest of the surrounding area and therefore not representative. Currently more than 85% of the neighborhood is still covered in snow in depths from 6" to 16". A new, more representative location has been picked for the SOG measurements.

No smell of smoke and no obvious smoky haze. Yesterday by noon the smoky haze had returned reducing visibility to 3/4 mile but by 7 pm this smoke had cleared restoring visibility of the west hills and Middle Mountain.

Most of Mount Hood is obscured. Large patches of blue sky overhead and to the W. No smell of smoke. Relative humidity here is 80% which is hopefully the case at the fire.

1/13/2017 1/16/2017 7:30 AM 4 0.03 22.5 0.03 Toughest winter here in 17 years! Observer was in residence but unable to get to the station on Jan. 12, 14 and 15 at observation time. The extreme cold snap has continued with highs in teens or low 20s and lows in the teens or single digits. Some gorgeous sunny afternoons. 1.1" snow [SWE 0.03"] fell overnight Jan. 13-14th and a trace of snow was in the gauge this morning. Currently 10º and calm with a homogeneous gray-white overcast with ceiling ~ 2600'. Mount Hood and most of the west hills are obscured.

4/23/2017 4/30/2017 7:15 AM 8 1.05 M M Rainy week: Davis auto rain gauge recorded rain as follows: 4-23: 0.08", 4-24: 0.05", 4-25: 0.38", 4-26: 0.14", 4-27: 0.20" and 4-28: 0.08". This under-reported the precipitation as 1.02" were emptied from the gauge yesterday afternoon at 2 pm. Another 0.03" fell last night between 1-2 am.
