Snow began very lightly around 2:00 yesterday afternoon, but fairly shortly turned into what looked like a real winter snowfall. Leaves were still on some trees and there were a number of branches down on roads and elsewhere. The snow turned to rain sometime around 8:00 p.m. and was hard rain at 11:00 p.m. That added to the weight on the trees and shrubs and around midnight everything looked bent to the ground. We measured 3.5 inches of snow on the ground then. This morning branches and trees popped back up again. All during this the temperature was a tad above freezing. The ground is still snow covered. It is still raining lightly. |
