When I took some samples off the snow board they were higher than on the snow board. It didn't seem as though there had been much drifting though. The Housatonic in New Milford has broken up a lot and there is a channel through the middle of the ice except for one small portion. Lovers Leap gorge still looks pretty jammed up. Temps right around freezing. Snow very lightly falling. Not sticking to paved surfaces at this point, although 1.5" on the ground - 1.0" new on board. My depth measurements on the ground when there are only a few inches of snow seem to regularly be about 1/2" higher than on the board when snow is new. I think this is because the grass holds the snow up, especially when it it light fluffy snow like today. The SWE are equal though - both 0.10". |

I hadn't a problem with my gauge. It had snow in the bottom 1/4, then nothing in the middle, and a snow plug in the top 1/4 that didn't slide down. There was snow piled up out of the top as well, which I knocked down in assuming it would have gone into gauge if it wasn't plugged. So I don't think that reflects what fell yesterday. That is why I took the extra time to be sure to do the melted value on the ground - probably more accurate. |

Yesterday the snow was wet and heavy. Last might it went down into 20's and the snow this morning is crunchy and hard. Difficult to walk where not shoveled. Even though it didn't get too much above freezing yesterday and clouds came in in afternoon, some melting did occur. Only 7.0" left on the ground. I had to take measurements early due to morning meeting. |

I don't think that the snow board measurements indicate the amount of snow that fell after I took yesterday morning's readings. It kept snowing the rest of the morning, but then the temperature got up to about 38 and it melted a lot. This early morning was also very windy. What was in the gauge had melted and frozen, but it too doesn't seem to reflect what fell. There is still quite a bit of snow here left on the ground - 4.0" average. I did the SWE of it which equaled 1.04". |

Very light snow was falling when I checked gauge, even though the sun was just coming over the hill. There was a little dusting of snow on board also. It is difficult to report the snow on the ground because about one quarter of the yard is bare, and the rest has 2.5". So I averaged to 1.5". Hope that gives an idea of what is on ground. |

What a storm yesterday! I've never experienced anything like it. I think we heard that it was a tornado. The wind damage was incredible. It hailed briefly about 1/4" pellets - I filed hail report. Only lasted a couple of minutes and melted right away. Trees down everywhere. No power. The town has declared a state of emergency. Our street was blocked at both ends until about midnight when one end was opened. Storm started at about 4:45 pm yesterday. The severe winds only lasted about 15 minutes, but the storm went on with light rain and thunder and lightening for at least another hour (estimate). |

Thought there would be more rain in the gauge from yesterday's storms. Only 0.38". I was in Ridgefield at about 3:30 yesterday when they got hit by a thunderstorm and torrential rain. Roads had standing water several inches deep - difficult to drive. And lots of thunder and lightning. I'll be interested to see what they measured this morning. My plants look very happy today - it actually seems they have grown visibly in last two days. |

A storm came through about 6:00 yesterday evening and brought a bri f, torrential rain and wind. It also lowered the temperature almost

Some flooding in the roadways near here yesterday - standing water on the road as it ran off the hill. Our pool is not closed and we had to dump water yesterday at height of storm. It was coming down almost as fast as we let it out it seemed. Quite warm this morning compared to yesterday morning - almost 20 degrees warmer today. Windows are all foggy and there is a bit of fog outside. Cloudy. Very still. |

No severe storms yesterday as predicted, mostly just rain. Temperatures in low 80s by afternoon and very humid. Nice contrast this morning - cool (56) and low humidity. Sunny. Feels mor like fall, although no color in the leaves yet. |

More rain! 0.69". Seems like I heard it raining all night. It didn't sound heavy, just steady. So I was surprised when I saw how much we got. This morning is about 50 degrees and overcast - looks like it could start raining at any minute. |

Coolest morning in a long time - 47 degrees! Sunny, lots of dew and condensation on gauge. There was a trace of water on the bottom of tube, but I am quite sure it is from dew, so did not report. |
