10/4/2017 7:00 PM 1.41 M M M M
10/5/2017 7:00 PM 0.16 M M M M This all came in a fine mist but thankfully, quit long enough for the preschoolers I work with to enjoy the pumpkin patch.
10/6/2017 7:00 PM 0.44 M M M M
10/15/2017 7:00 PM 0.52 M M M M
10/22/2017 7:00 AM 1.22 M M M M This came with much wind, hail and lightning.
11/12/2017 7:00 AM T M M M M We had a fine mist all day yesterday. Sometimes enough was falling that you needed windshield wipers; other times you didn't. I think the peak fall colors are over, now for the great falling to begin.
11/14/2017 7:00 AM T M M M M Constant mist yesterday, and more today. Already tired of the gray, sunless days.
12/17/2017 7:00 AM 0.05 M M M M I really thought we'd gotten more than .05" by the way it sounded coming down!
1/15/2018 7:00 PM T 0.1 0.01 0.1 0.01 Began snowing sometime in the wee hours of the morning and had pretty much finished by 9 AM. It was in the upper 30s when I left for work (7:45 AM) and by the time I left, five hours later, the temperature was in the upper teens.
1/16/2018 7:00 PM 0.00 0.0 M 0.1 0.01 I did not see the temperature about 17 degrees, and yet, most of the snow that fell yesterday is gone.
1/27/2018 7:00 AM 0.24 M M M M This little bit of rain came as the result of a cold front moving through and was sure refreshing to hear, dripping off of the roof.
2/4/2018 7:00 PM T M M M M The snow that fell was so fine and so sparse that it really wasn't worth even recording. It was only because my kids have good eyes that I even saw it.
2/16/2018 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M Still dry...very dry.
2/17/2018 7:00 AM 0.03 M M M M I don't know if this was rain or heavy dew/fog. Sure didn't hear any rain overnight so was surprised to see puddles at the end of the driveway!
2/20/2018 7:00 PM 0.44 M M M M A lot of this fell early in the morning, then froze.
2/21/2018 7:00 PM T M M M M A fine freezing mist just started falling around 5 PM and is causing dangerously slick roads.
2/22/2018 7:00 PM 0.39 M M M M Today started off with an ice storm and would have gotten worse but the temperature slowly creeped up over 32 degrees. It is still sprinkling now at almost 8 PM.
2/24/2018 7:00 AM 0.07 M M M M We had a steady, nonstop drizzle and heavy mist all day yesterday so to only get .07" was a surprise. And the way today is starting off, it doesn't look like Mr. Sun will be making an appearance yet.
2/27/2018 7:00 PM T M M M M Literally, this was no more than a few sprinkles on the windshield. Attended Cowley County's storm spotter meeting this afternoon, an annual event I look forward to and learn so much at.
2/28/2018 7:00 PM 0.02 M M M M I really wasn't expecting to find more than a trace in the rain gauge and maybe .02" was just condensation.
3/3/2018 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M We are entering grass fire season; there was one just north of me yesterday. Southern Kansas desperately needs rain!
3/4/2018 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M There is a slight chance for rain later today and there are plenty clouds around but so far, nothing.
3/6/2018 7:00 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M Extremely windy today with fires breaking out all over the state!
3/8/2018 7:00 PM 0.00 0.0 M M M Hardly a cloud in the sky and virtually no wind.
3/19/2018 7:00 AM 0.80 M M M M This very needed rain came in several waves, the biggest after midnight, with a minor thunderstorm. Still misting at 7 AM.
3/20/2018 7:00 AM 0.02 M M M M Had a day of drizzle and gray skies.
4/7/2018 7:00 AM 0.10 0.2 T 0.2 T Yesterday's weather events included rain, sleet and finally snow, topped off with an earthquake. The sleet was enough that I had to use the windshield wipers while driving and the snow is melting as I type this up. Took the snow measurement on the back porch and would really only classify it as a trace.
4/8/2018 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M The sun came out briefly but otherwise, it's been gray and overcast. Winter can be done already!
4/14/2018 7:00 AM 0.10 M M M M I understand that Ark City had snow flurries last night while I was in Wichita; I did not see them. The little amount of rain we received blew up out of nowhere and was so hard I couldn't see across my backyard.
4/21/2018 10:00 PM 1.92 M M M M
4/25/2018 7:00 PM 0.70 M M M M
5/4/2018 7:00 AM T M M M M It was literally pouring 1/4 mile from my house! And the big storms that hit Wednesday, split and went clear around Ark City.
5/5/2018 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M A few scattered clouds and chilly early, but has turned out to be a gorgeous day.
5/10/2018 7:00 AM 0.03 M M M M It was so pleasant this morning, to have the windows up, listening to this gentle shower, and the rain dripping off the eaves.
5/15/2018 7:00 AM 2.25 M M M M This is the most rain we have received since some time last year and it came with high winds and more than one tornado. What a blessing! We were at a sports banquet last night when the sirens went off, sending everyone to the basement, where the awards were passed out.
5/19/2018 7:00 AM 0.96 M M M M Very surprised to find this much in the gauge. I thought last night's storm was just that, a storm, but it also brought much needed rain.
5/25/2018 7:00 AM 0.14 M M M M Woke up to lightning and thunder, then had a brief shower. The rest of the day has been sunny with a few scattered clouds.
5/29/2018 7:00 AM 0.79 M M M M
5/31/2018 7:00 AM 1.46 M M M M Really wasn't expecting to find this much rain in the gauge but knew by the marks in the driveway, that we had had at least an inch. The wind blew down a sycamore that had been struck by lightning in 2011, completely blocking our driveway.
6/6/2018 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M No moisture and our cooler temps are gone...welcome to summer!
6/23/2018 7:00 PM 0.52 M M M M
6/24/2018 7:00 PM 1.00 M M M M
6/25/2018 7:00 AM 2.03 M M M M Big storm blew through starting at around 2 AM and included thunder and lightning, hail and wind. The hail was at it's worse at 2:20 and I wasn't about to go outside in my pjs to see the size of the stones. Judging by the noise and debris on the ground, I'd estimate the stones had to be at least an inch across.
7/7/2018 7:00 AM 1.44 M M M M We weren't supposed to get rain at all so this sudden, very hard storm caught us unawares. Later that night, we went to Winfield, only 10 miles north and they had not gotten a drop of rain!
7/16/2018 7:00 AM 0.03 M M M M Light sprinkles here, north of town, and pouring in town as I was taking my husband to work.
7/18/2018 7:00 AM 1.14 M M M M This fell some time during the night or early morning and is just what our garden didn't need since I had forgotten and left the hose on for hours!
7/24/2018 7:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M M M No rain or moisture of any kind to report but the weekend appears to be full of rain coming.
7/29/2018 7:00 AM 1.35 M M M M This very welcome rain came during the wee hours of the morning. I had told Hubby yesterday that if we did not get rain soon, I would not be mowing in the back acre and now, with this, looks like I'll be mowing again.

8/13/2018 7:00 PM 0.18 M M M M This small amount came in several short bursts. It amazes me that a duck that has gone to setting by my garage does not leave her eggs, no matter how hard it rains. I know she gets soaked.

8/19/2018 7:00 PM 1.10 M M M M As far as we know, this was the only rain we got this weekend. We were in north-central Kansas, a place that's normally very dry and this time, got so much rain that the ponds were full and ditches had standing water.
8/21/2018 7:00 PM T M M M M I recorded a trace because we are entering the time of year when the dew is very heavy in the morning, and starts beading by 8 PM.

8/23/2018 7:00 PM 0.13 M M M M Just enough rain to mess up early recess.
8/24/2018 7:00 AM 0.16 M M M M This small amount came around daybreak, and began with a clap of thunder.
9/4/2018 7:00 PM 1.66 M M M M Rain, rain and more rain...and kids doing indoor recess again. I know the plants and streams are thankful though.
9/5/2018 7:00 PM 0.57 M M M M It drizzled and spit nearly all day so finally we took the school kids out anyway.
9/7/2018 7:00 PM 0.25 M M M M This amount includes the .09" we got yesterday. South Ark City received a LOT of rain (so much that the curb side of 177 was impassible) and got virtually nothing on the north side. It's been misting and spitting all day.
9/8/2018 7:00 PM T M M M M Misted all day. I am ready for Mr. Sunshine!
