The 1.1 inches of light snow that from 12:15am - 9:00am, was almost all completely melted by sunset this evening (thus "T" recorded for total depth on the ground). Snow depth was measured at 9:10am and was rather "wet."
A total of 0.46 inches of precipitation fell over the 2 day period of this storm, most of it as rain yesterday.
We also had some on/off snow showers for most of the daylight hours, but none of it accumulated on the ground.
Road, sidewalks, and driveways were completely snow free and dry by 4:00pm. |

All snow today. 1.6 measured at 10:00am, (some of it was graupel from 9:00am - 10:00am). Sun came out and melted most of it. Had a few rounds of heavier lake effect snow squalls, periods of light flurries, interrupted by periods of sunshine later in the day. Exact amounts were difficult to measure (had to measure 3 more times during the day)because the sun would melt it soon after it fell, but I feel I got some pretty accurate measurements while it was still "fluffy."
Snow total was a combination of 4 different measurements, but the was never more than 1.6 inches on the ground at any one time.
This evening, after the snow showers stopped, there was only a trace amount left on the ground surface. There was no accumulation on local roads, sidewalks or driveways. |

Light rain/sleet/snow mix fell until 7:30am, then sleet and a few snow flakes mixed until 1:30pm. Sleet was the main accumulation on the ground and above freezing temperatures until noon melted about half of it. NEW SNOWFALL IS AN ESTIMATE, but total on ground was an actual measurement. Liquid measurement this morning was 0.41 inches (rain and melted sleet/snow/sleet)according to my "tip bucket" rain gauge, but temperatures fell below freezing about 12:30pm (and fell slowly for the rest of the measurement period. All contents in the rain gauge was frozen when retrieved at 11:59pm. Only a trace of precipitation fell from 1:30pm - collection time at 11:59pm.
There was no ice accumulation on any tree limbs or automobile surfaces. Trip to the rain gauge today was a treacherous walk for me.

All precipitation during the period was sleet, with an occasional snowflake mixed in. Some settling of the sleet layer occurred on the snow board before it could be measured.
Interesting to note that there was NO evidence of any freezing rain at this station location during the 3-day event - rain, mostly sleet, and a few snow flakes.
Liquid equivalent of the 3-day storm was 2.29 inches. |

Finally got some rain here. Absolutely no flooding at all, except for a few small puddles along the road edge. It was so dry here that it soaked in almost as fast as it fell.
Most of the precipitation (2.38") fell from 5:20am to 10:35am , and then a trace amount of very light and spotty sprinkles through the morning into the afternoon. Only .10 inches fell from 6:30pm to 6:45pm. |

With 1.66" today and the .73" late last night, the storm total was 2.39 inches at this station.
As far as flooding: just a few small puddles in the roadways, and an occasional small puddle in the agricultural fields. The Pine River, just 2 blocks from my location, was muddy, but nowhere near bank level, and just barely above a normal level for this time of the year. No puddles in the yard, but ground was a tad bit spongy.
With the 2+ inches of rain a few days ago, things here are greening up and drought conditions seemed to have disappeared. |

Storm total over the last 4 days was 3.68 inches. No local flooding because the rain was spread out over a longer period of time (but the ground is saturated), electrical outages or damaging winds (highest gust recorded over the 4-day period was 30mph) at the location.
We did have some spectacular lightning and thunder with the storms.
From what I understand, over 5 inches of precipitation was measured just a 4-5 miles to the north of us.
Grass has grown more in the last 5 days that is has the past 2 months. |
