Snow fell frequently as very large flakes and was slightly wet which likely explained the very high melt ratio which is quite unusual for here. When flakes were smaller, the snow accumulated at a more usual 10:1 ratio. Untreated paved surfaces remained wet till after 3 PM when nearly 5" had accumulated on the snow board and eventually accumulated 1" to 1.5" so that only minimal shoveling was needed. However, paved overpasses became snow-covered and slick almost immediately. Despite the fluffiness, much snow still clung to wires, small tree branches, and vertical surfaces and even stacked to 5 to 6 inches tall on 1-inch wide railings.

3/22/2018 8:00 AM 0.88 9.1 M 10.0 1.07 Steady snow which resumed toward previous dawn continued steady light to moderate, except period of heavy 2 PM to 4 PM, till dusk and ended temporarily by 8 PM and included 8.5" during this report day. An encore period of light snow 9 PM to 11 PM brought an additional 0.5", and a snow shower brought 0.1" more after midnight. Storm totals: 10.7" snow, 1.15" rain and melted. Direct gauge catch and core sample results were very close.
3/23/2018 8:00 AM 0.00 0.0 0.00 4.0 1.02 Snow pack depth from the "welcome spring" storm reduced from 10" down to 2" to 6", depending on sun exposure while texture transformed from semi-powder to slush. Core sampling indicated approx 90 percent of the original mass was still present, still around an inch of liquid regardless of depth, as melt water was mainly absorbed by that which did not melt. However, much melt water was released from edges and sloped surfaces.
3/24/2018 8:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M 1.0 M Remaining snow coverage on undisturbed grounds has been quite dependent on direct sun exposure which ranges from bare where high or moderate exposure, about an inch where low exposure, and up to a few inches on always shaded areas which are now a very small minority.
3/25/2018 8:00 AM T T M T M Feeble flurries have been fluttering last hour, including at 8:00 AM (1200 UTC) report time. Remnants from major midweek snowstorm have become limited to patches and piles, mainly on areas of low or no direct sun exposure.
3/26/2018 8:00 AM 0.06 0.9 M T M Flurries at previous 8:00 AM observation escalated to steady light to moderate snow shortly thereafter till noontime and accumulated almost an inch on areas of low sun exposure. New snow melted rapidly during 11 AM or noon hour, depending on sun exposure, even while substantial snow was still falling. A sprinkle was seen at 4:30 PM despite an afternoon with sunshine and scattered clouds. Only thin patches of old snow on areas of low sun exposure and many man-made piles persist.
3/27/2018 8:00 AM 0.00 0.0 M 0.0 M Undisturbed snow coverage has dropped below 10 percent and is limited to areas of very low sun exposure; thus zero for total snow depth. North slopes of nearby hills remain mostly covered.
