About 3 miles east of this location tornado/straight line winds came through the community of Gladeville and damaged some trees, the Baptist Church, elementry school and a few out buildings. National Weather Service will survey today and figure out if it was in fact a tornado. This all happened in the 5:00 pm hour, power was off at this location for several hours. |

Very, very fine ice particles drifting in air, visable mostly when looking toward sunrise in the 'sun beams'. It's not snow or sleet or freezing rain, really not visable unless sunlight is reflecting off them. Light frost, much heavier on roof and car tops, which might be explained by these drifting ice particles. Partly cloudy and still, temperature in single digits and not expected to warm up beyond 20. Stayed up late and made sure wood furnace had big bed of hot coals which paid off this morning as I got instant fire when I added wood before going out to check on the geese and wild birds. This very cold spell expected to last all week.
Ice on duck pond much thicker but geese still had a 2 geese sized hole to swim in which I enlarged considerably. My breath froze on my face and beard within a minute of starting to break ice.

Overcast and dark with rain just ending. About 6:30 am strong cell came through with very heavy rain. All rain accumulated was from this one 30 minute event. Water running down driveway, puddles and some standing water everywhere, can see clearly line in duck pond where water ran off bank into pond and was muddy. Light rain, overcast, puddles everywhere with limited run off in roadside ditches. Most of the ongoing rain still seems to be soaking into the ground but I feel that the ground is approaching saturation. Duck pond has added several vertical inches of water so the geese are happily swimming all over the pond again.
