But my mom didn't remember seeing any rain and since other gauges around reported 0, I suppose that if their was water in the gauge at 7am it was either dew or from that pesky phoebe that likes to sit on the gauge! |

I was actually out of the country from June 3 till June 6 but my parents were home. My dad said that the only time it rained during my absence was on the afternoon of the 3rd and before daybreak on the 4th. When I returned, the gauge showed 2.55". But the center tube only had 0.98" instead of 1" so it seems most reasonable to assume that 0.02" evaporated in those 2 1/2 days. |

Well, this is the farthest off that I have seen the NWS forecast in a long time. As of about Wednesday they were predicting 3-4" rain through today and we got a grand total of 0.14". Too bad because we surely could have used the rain. As my dad says, "All signs fail in dry weather." |

There was a trace in the gauge that I thought must have been dew. But the next morning the dew was just as heavy with a dry gauge so I am thinking that there must have been a little rain in the afternoon that I didn't notice. |

Main area of rain from Hurricane Laura started about 5:30pm. Total was 0.32" @7:30pm, 0.43" @8:16pm, 2.58" @8:52pm, 3.03" @9:16pm, 3.37" @10:16pm, and 5.09" @6:43am. Still raining but very lightly.
A neighbor 3.28 miles SSW of Strawberry reported 7.5" of rain but I am not sure about the accuracy of his gauge.
Though radar showed rotation tracking directly overhead about 8:36pm, no damage occurred. The tornado apparently was not on the ground.
There was a little ponding of water during the heaviest rain (2.15" in 36 minutes from 8:16pm till 8:52pm) and some creeks filled to the brim, but there was really NO FLOODING because the ground was so dry before Laura.
Praise the Lord for the rain! |

Intense thunderstorm around 3pm produced 1.43 inches here and apparently more a few miles north. (I wasn't home at the time so measured around 8pm but I don't think any rain fell between that thunderstorm and 8pm.) The church driveway 2.46 miles NNW washed out worse than I have ever seen it before. Water was knee deep across county road 286 1.3 miles W of AR 117. Rain started again 10:56pm but I only heard light rain before falling asleep. Heavy rain began 4am. At 4:10am it tapered to a drizzle and I measured 1.30 inches. Additional 0.18 inches by 7am. |

Heavy rain from soon after 7am till 8:20am. Total reached 0.86" @8:20am, 1.01" @9:20am, 1.07" @9:40am, 1.38" @10:01am, 1.42" @1:45pm, and 1.43" @5:48pm. From there, no rain till AT LEAST 9:35pm when I went to sleep. Woke up 6:02am to Heavy rain. Measured an ADDITIONAL 1.47" at 6:30am, and an additional 0.52" at 7am. THIS MAKES 11.89" in the last 5 days and 13.5 hours!
Pond across road appears to be 6" from going over the dam. Give us another 1" in the next hour (which looks possible from radar) and something might happen! |

Heavy rain in the morning caused Reeds Creek a mile away to reach its highest level in a while. (I think I have seen about the same level two or three times in the past 25 years but hardly much higher.
Daily rainfall reached 0.64" @7:30am, 0.82" @8am, 0.90" @8:54am, 1.15" @10:15am, 1.72" @4:57pm, 1.91" @6:46pm, and 1.99" @8:40pm. Pretty much no rain from 11am till 3:30pm and apparently nothing measurable overnight either.
This makes a total of 13.88" for the past 6.5 days! |
