The storm that was suppose to give us a little rain turned out to be a dud. Inside of rain gauge was bone dry, condensation on funnel. |

major storm that brough heavy rain and thunder around 11am (the first lightning strike in California yesterday (many more strikes to follow around the state after the first one I happen to hear which originated towards Roseville I believe). We got an estimated 7/10" of an inch of rain in like 1/2 hr. A 2 day total of 2.97" one of the highest amount I have observed if not the highest these past 25+ yrs I believe. In contrast to the 2.97", our sac international airport only had .84" |

may have been a sprinkle but not one drop inside gauge. I happen to drive to Roseville/rocklin area 7pm in gully washer and thunderstorm, had to slow down to 35 mph on the freeway it was so heavy and so much water being kicked up off the road. Reports of as much as 1/2" to 1" of rain in that area. Was like 75 deg in Carmichael, but only like 65 deg in rocklin with that thunderstorm. I heard long distant thunder at home late aft. |

Still a bone dry rain gauge all summer long so far, but we did have sprinkles yesterday morning. Also more sprikles just after midnite early this morning (big drops), Thunder came shortly later(lots of it mostly off in the distant over Sacramento..over 1/10" near Mckinley Park). Power went out for a few seconds after a lightning strike. Hail reported in North Highlands yesterday, high dew point of 66F last night. 2nd warmest night in history here with a low of 79F. Yesterdays high temperature here was 111F (one degree shy of all time high). Death Valley Ca reached 130F yesterday. |

rumbles of thunder around midnight or so last night with lightning flashes towards the S and SE, a few sprinkles noted shortly after midnight. Extremely smokey as well overnight (took off shirt, it smelled to high heaven with smoke...even inches away from the shirt). There was another thunderstorm later during the night crossing near Fair Oaks, Orangevale, Citrus Heights, Roseville, Rocklin (as it continued to travel Northward). Reports of measurable rain in Rocklin area. Remnants of what was hurricane Genevieve. |

Mercury was lower yesterday (104F) compared with a September all time high of 110F here on Sunday with that hot air aloft, so hot, the low temperature in the Santa Monica mountains above Malibu was 100F Saturday night/early Sunday morning. |
