Thus far, February has been a wet month. I recorded snowfall on 12 of 24 days to date. Total snowfall here (western Arapahoe county) for the month: 24.9 inches. This is about 4x “normal” expectations. Liquid precipitation measured at 1.84 inches; which is also about 4x our 30 year average. |

Snow fell before midnight, without any wind, sticking to bare tree and shrub branches. Still have old snow remaining on the ground, as much as 3 to 4 inches of “corn”. Measured snowfall just once, with the result of 11.2 inches. It was very wet, and was settling/compacting over the day - snow fell from 7:45 AM pretty much steadily until 8 PM. Incredibly wet snow; something on the order of 2 inches liquid to a foot of snow. This storm produced 2.09 inches of liquid precipitation- 0.17 in rain measured before 7 AM on Weds, then 1.92 melted on Thurs. |
