The gage was not emptied so that a more accurate assessment of the total precipitation could be made tomorrow morning once this storm passes. This measurement is less than the actual total because of the unmelted snow in the funnel. Snow was not yet sticking to the ground. A little snow was clinging to blades of grass in the yard.
